It's time to try a Disney Cruise. Let's start with the Dream! update pg 14

That actually looks like an enjoyable walk from the ship to the staircase. It would be neat to be able to soak in the atmosphere of the city and get a little bit of culture that way.

You know, as long as the locals are pleasant, and it sounds like they must have been for your experience.

It was nice walk and everyone we encountered was friendly. It was interesting to see a bunch of banks that were Canadian banks. The one visible difference was they all had a guard at the door.

Looks like a lovely walk. Is there a special significance to the Queen's Staircase?

It is a 65 step staircase that was carved out of the limestone in the 1790s by slaves. It was named after Queen Victoria a hundred years later to commemorate her 65 year reign and her role in the abolition of slavery in the Bahamas.

So at the top of the staircase it is just a few steps to Fort Fincastle. It isn’t a big fort by any means but it does give you some excellent views of Nassau. The fort itself was built to defend Nassau but it never fired a shot. It is also shaped like bow of a ship. Here are some pictures of the fort and the views you get from inside.

After finishing up our visit we made our way back to the ship. Along the way we came across a Starbucks so DW decided to make a stop for some type of coffee drink. I don’t really remember what it was because for me there is only one way to drink coffee, strong and black.

Back on board, DW decided to hang out on the balcony until it was time for her Spa appointment.

She told me she would add some info about this on the report when I got to this point so I will let her know she needs to post her review soon.

DS and I spent most of the afternoon hanging out together. We hit the Aquaduct and got in 3 runs before it got too cool and then warmed up in the pool before grabbing some lunch. We each picked up beverage from the Bon Voyage bar before playing 9 holes of golf and some very windy ping pong and even sat in on a DVC presentation. Now we are looking at DVC options.

I leave things for now with some random shots from the afternoon.

The next part will be visit to the Royal Palace, the Villains Tonight show and the ship at night.

First things first, Shanleigh thanks you ever so much for the gorgeous pics of Atlantis...her dream resort that hopefully we'll get a change to visit in the next couple of years!

Sounds like another great day and great pics....especially the one where I can see my dear friend enjoying her afternoon lounging on your deck!:flower3: That's for you pooksma and I can't wait to hear about your time at the spa!

Just checking in to say hello, as I re-enter the real world and get back to the DIS a little bit at a time. I am so glad we were able to meet in person. So far, we have met nothing but nice, nice people at DIS meets, and you certainly kept the streak going. :)

I am in Alabama now hanging out with my girls. We are having an Easter egg hunt a little later. We have a cake in the oven, and we'll decorate that with springtime sprinkles when it cools. It is warming up here, so I think I escaped the worst of the cold and snow while I was gone. :thumbsup2

I will enjoy seeing more cruise pictures, as it remains doubtful if I will ever go on a cruise myself. ;)

Atlantis looks pretty cool and I was tempted to grab a water taxi with Declan and head over for the afternoon to look around but I couldn't go without pooksma.

It was great meeting you as well and never say never about the cruise.

Happy to have to ready along. Enjoy Easter with your girls.

That pool deck looks like a big mess, is it as chaotic as it looks? And this is while ship in port?

That was late in the afternoon while still in Nassau. It isn't as bad as it looks. Most of the people in the foreground pool and just soaking and watching the movie on the Funnelvison screen and the people in the back pool were horsing around more. There were quite a few loungers available on the deck above the pool, even on the sea day.

:wave2:

While the boys explored and goofed around, Mom spend a relaxing few hours in the spa. When we decided to book this cruise, I decided it would be my treat to myself. As some of you know, I am a :teacher: and the weeks after Christmas are LONG. The week prior to March Break is always extra busy.

But you want to hear about the spa. (Sorry no pics allowed in the spa)
My appointment was at 1:30 and I was met at the desk and escorted to the waiting area. I had only sat down for a few minutes when Ted, my masseur, came to collect me. He confirmed I was having the hot stone massage (a first for me) and proceed to ask several questions about areas of tension, medical and we also discussed the fact that I am under chiropractic care.

Ted then left the room to allow me to prepare. When he returned, he had me smell a couple of different scents, something with jasmine, another with lavender, and one with more of a musky smell. I did not choose the oils he used-he did. As he began working my muscles, he told me that he observed my body's response to the scents and that I had reacted best to the lavender. No surprise to me as this is a very personal scent. Not to get sappy but it was my grandmother's scent and I always feel better when I smell it.

OK back to Ted...MAGIC FINGERS!:worship::worship: The stones were placed at various points on my back as he worked my shoulders. He told me he would come back to this area again and again as it was where I had the most tension.

Ted checked with me several times to make certain the pressure was where I wanted it to be (I like a little extra) and moved the stones or added stones as he worked. When he was ready for me to roll on to my front, he rang a small bell before asking me to change positions. Same thing when he was applying cooling gel (THE BEST) to soothe the muscles. ::yes::

When the massage was finished, he went through each of the products he had used and encouraged me to return for another massage before the cruise ended. I didn't feel pressured to purchase the products but I could see that some people might.

If you have any specific questions, I will try my best to answer them.

I was taken back to the change room, had a great shower, again using the spa products, and left feeling revitalized!

I'm seriously considering a hot stone massage when my sister and I go for our birthday cruise in October aboard the Dream. Sounds wonderful! Did you get a chance to go to the Rainforest Room?
