Where will Rosie Roam in 2013. Day 2 Epcot updated 10/14

Okay for those of you who still check Marv's longgggg TR repoert that he posts on every 2 or 3 months:rotfl2:I said I had a HORROR Story and I do !!

Firstly today was Sabah Day , for those of you who have not heard of this , it is an Ice Skating Show for the Developmentally diabled . All 5 in my parttime job house participate , so this morning I had to deal with getting everyone up, cleaned up,teeth bushed . Calm down one who shoved the table at me and threw carrots at me cuz she was nervous , slammed her door and scratched me  Persuaded another that she needed to get up, get 5 guys dressed in costume, by this time my helper arrived :goodvibesI could have kissed him for being early , Go Chad :goodvibes So we departed on time with no more incidents. In fact it all went well the Show as always is amazing, to see those guys out there in chairs but on sakates and moving their legs as best they can and others who proudlu=y have learnt to skate alone , their pride is just pure joy !! See here I am in the middle of a HORROR story getting all sentimental , but I have to report the wonderfully good time as well:goodvibes
After it was over I was in the dressing room asssting a couple get undressed , and had to go find another who I was helping walk back to the drssing room, when other of my crew was witnessed by me shoving a woman , who I did not know !!! So I ushered her back into the dressing room and handed over my charge to Chad and proceeded to let Miss Shover have it but good . Rosie can be very assetrive when pushed to her limits. So seething from that the parent of the other one comes in and tells me like it was my fault she was left on the ice alone, my manager calls and starts yelling. By this time my blood is boiling . I find a volunteer and ask why she was left on the ice alone , and they apologise and say they were short og helpers . So I relay this to the irate parents who seem to be calmer now and tell my manager . Okay phew I think it is finally over ...... Wrong . Miss Shover decides we are taking her to the store :rotfl2: Oh No we are not , so she HITS me :rotfl2: I get out of the van which Chad had stopped :rotfl2: and make her get out and tell her she is getting in the back, she climbs back in the middle and starts hitting Chad at this point MR Sir Gallahad decides he is protecting us and hurls a footsttol at Miss Shover :rotfl2: Chad quickly deflects that and reads him the riot act, I ended up in the back seat with Miss Shover and Sir Gallahad in the front . Let me tell you Miss Shover did not have a pleasant ride home, tears were flowing and NOT mine !!:rotfl2:

So would you care to rate that a true HORROR Day !!:rotfl2:

Naval? Belly Button?? That's funny right there, I don't care who you are............. :lmao: :lmao:

Yikes Rosie! I'm glad you weren't hurt. You are one tough pirate: when you need to be. (I just used the pirate cuz you're crusing soon!) I've had a hard time keeping up and keeping up between PTRs and TRs, but I love to see you around, and I love what you do for your clients!:thumbsup2 I will catch up when I can.

I would rate that as one HORROR of a day, Rosie!!! :scared1: If I was forced to sit on the back row of the bus with you, I would be crying too!!! :guilty:

Although probably from laughter!!!! :rotfl2:

Holy cow, Rosie! I tried to wait up last night to read what happened, but fell asleep...oh my gosh, thank goodness you are okay! How is that scratch? You, my dear friend, are an amazing combination of tender heart and tough when necessary - for yourself as well as your charges.

As Marv said, full moon, Spring Fever...and I think the delay of Spring...is an unhappy brew in the making. Just very thankful everyone is okay- especially you! :grouphug:

My week last week was not like THAT but it sure is obvious a full moon is coming. Heck it has been like since last full moon- ACK it is Full moon AND Spring Fever!!!!! Last year it was crazy too around this time!!!! :lmao:

I have often notices that the full moon effects certain of our guys !!!:rotfl2:The problem is with them they don't process the coping skills to deal with frustration and tend to DO what we often feel like doing:lmao: Combine that with adult status but child like behavior :scared1::scared1: When asked "How should you have handled that" They usually know , but when you ask "why didn't you" They have NO idea :rotfl2: This time I refused to accept her apology which of course upset her greatly , but that's tooooo bad !! I know MEAN Rosie !!:lmao:

No I am fine , could have a bruise at some point on my back but nothing more !!!I know the feeling about keeping up !!!:goodvibes

It can be very entertaining see me get out of the back seat!!:rotfl2: Fortunately those type of days are not too frequent!!:yay:

We are trained in SCIP which is a safe method of restraining them always the least restrictive to the utmost. The least being to prevent it from happening and involves being a good talker and a sense of humor can be a HUGE help :rotfl2:

I totally get that and have actually seen that too. Sometimes teh trick is trying to see it coming and head it off and redirect and distract. ( like the dog episode)
I once had one of my special kids at afterschool, walk off the playground and back in to the main building for what seemed like no reason. I got the walkie talkie message that he was walking my way. When he arrived I asked why he walked off and he stated he did because he figured he was in time out ( he kicked a ball earlier outside) He said he got mad ( temper problem ) and kicked the ball realized what he did and walked off to come inside and get his punishment. ON HIS OWN. :lmao:
I sent him back out and praised him for knowing he was mad ( temper control is what we were working on) and ONLY kicking the ball ( not punching anyone else). Told him not to walk off and not tell staff where he was going. At least that time he caught himself before he fully reacted. He was very surprised he was not in more trouble. All his young life he was always in trouble no matter how hard he seemed like he tried. I just had to prove to him this time - he has unknowingly made progress in the anger department.
After that he behaved much better all the time- he knew I had faith in him and he DID have control over his behavior.
That was over 20 years ago and he still holds a special place in my heart.

So sorry you felt the brunt of that outburst. :sad1:

A sense of humor is a given. You have to put it all in perspective and if you can get them to just stop a few seconds to maybe think, usuallly you might be able to contain the situation.
Usually I have dealt with children but I know the adults can really be a handful and strong too.

Be careful Rosie, we don't want you getting hurt.

Too much paperwork to fill out when that happens.....

Pat, what a wonderful story. Bless you! So many kids, especially the ones with special needs, get hammered about how bad they are rather than praise and support when deserved. I did not work with special needs but I was a librarian and after school director - some kids could really get any of us worked up if we did not take the time to get proper training...but..I truly believe one has to have an understanding heart or it is time to move on out of the profession.

Rosie has an amazing gift and they are as blessed to have her as she feels being there.

Oh absolutely.... Most of my afterschool "special "kids were either undiagnosed behavior issues or even diagnosed but either medicated or unmedicated. Growing up is hard when it is hard to control impulses in the classroom and with afterschool I had the freedom to do more behavioral intervention since I did not have an academic component.

I always seemed to get those borderline cases- and I made it work. A little outside the box thinking goes a long way. :rolleyes2

At least with kids they don't want to be bad, ( there is always one though :scratchin:) they just want to control their environment like most of us. It is up to us to give them the tools and the teaching.

Rosie - is an :littleangel: for doing what she does. I am sure she will agree, you get back as much as you give. Some days are hard, sometimes you are in the line of fire but overall teh good outweighs the bad and that is why you stick with it.

I'm giving it an 8.5 on a scale of 10. God bless you Rosie for doing the work you do because I know I couldn't.

On a brighter note - you cabin sounds amazing. :cool1:
Yes my cabin is amazing!!! I absolutely LOVE my field Horror days and all!!!:cloud9:

The trick with the humor is knowing who to use it with, it can be disastrous used on the wrong individual !!!:rotfl2:

You mean since back when you were a lot younger? :rolleyes1

Oh wait, did they even HAVE :drive: way back then??? :stir: :rotfl2:

Like when dinasurs roamed the earth!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thank you Christine!! Chad who was my partner yesterday and will graduate with a bachelor in mental health this year , is an awesome young man. He frequently says "I get paid for doing this?":rotfl2:He is soooo calm and consistant and I love working with him!!!

Today we had our Annual Supervisors Drug& Alcohol Training !!! No Marv they don't have open Bar and Drug Dealers:rotfl2:But you will all be thrilled to know that testing positive for PCP is almost non exsistant now :rotfl2:I know you all have been waiting anxiously for that tidbit !!! I can't imagine why but I was singled out several times and was caste as the bully, and who was I bullying ... why none other than my BOSS!!!:rotfl2: While we all realized that Drugs and Alcohol have NO place in the workshop, 3 hours of hearing about it is :crazy2:They also talked on Violence in the workplace and at the end of the loooooong 3 hours he asked if anyone had questions.. no one did or there would have been violence in the work place !!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just had to share , as he did say we all need to have stress relief daily in our lives and I was thinking about all of you my Dis destressers !!!!:grouphug:

So we de-stress rather than distress, yes? :rotfl2:

Gee, now why on earth would anyone keep calling on our sweet, quiet, demure Rosie? :confused3 :rotfl:

PCP? is that even still around? I ask as though I even know what it actually is...I mean I know it's a drug, but only in a generic way.
