Just got our tickets for a quick trip to Disney - first time without the kids, but my Husband has a Conference in Orlando so we are going a little early and then I will hang out at the pool during the day.

We are going to Epcot for the flower and garden festival one day and the Magic Kingdom the next day.

Trying not to feel to guilty about leaving the kids, but it's our first time away together in 12 years!

So do you think we will have fun without the kids there?

That is so awesome! I can't get my husband to fly so I go with my son. Hope you have fun

How much do you put in there per day and do u put ur last names or room number on the envelopes? :confused3

We always do $5/day for our family of four. And we just leave an envelope out on the table each day for whomever comes in to clean. On our last stay at the WL, we ended up having the same Mousekeeper our whole stay and she was great!! We even chatted with her a few times in the hallway. We really liked her and she left us a huge mess of towel animals and displays everyday, so we gave her a little extra on the last day as well. :thumbsup2

She took very good care of us! :goodvibes

Snow day gave us an excuse to watch an extra Disney movie this week. We did Fun and Fancy Free this afternoon. A golden oldie! We had to fire up the VCR. Jiminy Cricket is one of my all time favorites. Mortimer Snerd and Charlie McCarthy cracked the kids up.:happytv:

We're at 10days now and still not got ours, they do come out a bit later in the UK though. I got home today to a note from the postman saying I had a letter that needed to be singed for so I've got to go to the post office after work tomorrow, just hope it's the Mickey Mail, I'm not expecting anything else so will be really disappointed if its not xx

Ours came today. i was so excited, then I opened it this evening when I got in from work and the date on our discovery cove voucher is for the wrong day :( it's the right date on the TA invoice and our original confirmation itinery, but wrong on the voucher, so I'm still stressed about the tickets and will have to call the TA again tomorrow :( I hope they haven't messed up! Fingers crossed it is your tickets waiting at the post office for you :)

You will have a blast!!!

Don't feel guilty either. My DH and I have been a couple times without the kids.

Have fun!:)

We were able to sneak in an extra disney movie day because of the snow too. The kids watched Up (i had to work).
Now that i'm back to being excited about disney again, let me check in with my kindle countdown clock......drumroll please.....................
.....'.......

Only 1.9 million seconds to go! :thumbsup2:

10 days until we arrive at Silver Lake Resort (Silver Points) Decided to spend our check in night with Yehaa Bob! Have always wanted to go in past trips but we get busy and it doesn't happen. So, this trip we are going there first ;)

Our plans for this trip are a bit more flexible than in the past because we have APs and we might park hop for the first time. May pop over to AK more often than past trips b/c Silver Lake is so close to it. We will definitely be taking breaks in the afternoon for naps or swimming. DD9 and DS6 can't do the parks all day everyday.

3/30 Epcot and dinner at LeCellier
3/31 Easter service, afternoon swim, Animal Kingdom evening
4/1 Animal Kingdom or DHS
4/2 Animal Kingdom or DHS
4/3 Magic Kingdom and dinner at The Plaza
4/4 Epcot morning, afternoon swim, dinner at Medieval Times
4/5 check out of Silver Lake, check in at CBR, swim and hang out at CBR, evening at MK with dinner at BOG
4/6 relax at CBR pool before heading home late afternoon

Hello, If you don't have a little one (stroller) do you carry a sling back or back pack in the parks?
I didn't know how to carry the reusable mug around all day. How do you use it?
Thanks:confused3

I got my mail today, lol after I panicked. I just didn't want to be stuck without my ME tags / passes again. I just thought a week was a bit long since being mailed- plus, my post office is well known for sending mail back and being slow! Looks like its time to start packing soon :)
Wait...you haven't started packing yet? Haha! We are 30 days out, and I am almost fully packed! I usually pack for seven in only carry-ons, so this trip is easy peasy. However, I couldn't wait. This last weekend I put my packing table up in my room again. I get sick of moving everything off my bed so we can sleep! I love setting up one of my folding tables, putting a nice tablecloth on it, and setting up the suitcases. It makes it so easy to pack!!!

This is exactly what I have been struggling with! My kids keep saying: "I wish we were going." It makes me so sad. My husband and I never had a honeymoon or a single trip without the kids in 15 years. We deserve it, but that doesn't make it easy. We are there for 9 days and I don't think I've ever been separated from them for more than two days. I homeschool, so I am with them constantly. I have been freaked out the last couple of days.

I feel it is so important for us to do this bc it will just be us when the kids grow up, so we have to stay connected, but I am nervous. I wonder how long it will take me to really start enjoying myself and realize I don't have to be conscious of five kids the whole time?! I have that issue where I am always looking to see where all my kids are, so I wonder if I will snap out of that habit quickly.

Have fun. I am sure we all are worrying for nothing!

are you talking about the mug you get for the dining plan or you pay for? if so they can only be filled at your resort, not at the parks so don't take it with you. i will be carrying a camera backpack with extra and hidden pockets and a place for a water bottle.

Sent from my Xoom using DISBoards

It's our SDD today :) :) :) I'm am beyond excited now. The cases are packed, tip and mouse keeping envelopes decorated and filled, carry on luggage sorted, everything is done just need the Mickey Mail now!!

My DH and I switch off carrying a backpack. :goodvibes

And as a PP mentioned, the refillable mug is only good at your resort, not in the parks. Unless of course you are just bringing it to carry water....

I'm not a soda drinker or my DS so I was thinking about bringing the mugs to get ice water in the parks, I read that most counter service places will give for free and I am bringing the crystal lite and kool aid for my DS singles to put in the water for something more then water.

Blackbeltdisneygirl- that is a very good idea! A packing table-- I might jut have to try something like that. We are a family of 5 going, so any organization skills will help! Lol, I really wanted to start packing but I thought I was just being Disney crazy!

What does everybody pack for April? All shorts/short sleeve tops or tanks? Sweatshirts?

I know it is supposed to be high 70's / low 80's but not living there its hard to picture exactly what it's like from morning to evening.

Had the kids decorate the Mousekeeping envelopes yesterday. Also had to edit the suitcases since I've been on a bit of a buying spree and I keep buying clothes and shoving them into the kids cases. Good thing I did, because I don't think my daughter needed 13 skirts and 17 shorts for a 9 day vacation.:rotfl2: Well at least summer clothes are all taken care of when we get back.

I bring the collapsible water bottles from LL Bean. Basically just a pouch you can fill up. Works a lot better so that you don't end up carrying around a backpack half full of those mugs.

My DW doesn't carry anything in the parks. That's because she has a pack mule (me) to carry anything we need!

Normally, I just carry water and a few small things (KTTW cards, driver's licenses, Kleenex, cellphone). If we'll be returning to the resort soon, I just carry a small shoulder bag and buy water enroute.

Of course, back before it was just the two of us, we carried everything imaginable with us. (grin)
