DDC XXVII: Penguins in Paradise!

Evening guys. Hope everyone is doing good. Spring can't get here soon enough.

Had an eventful couple of days. Yesterday I took DS into Minneapolis for his semiannual audiology appointment. We had blizzard like conditions overnight but it wasn't bad in the morning. We picked up DW and were on our way home. She had the van and I had to old Explorer. Just north of town there was an open stretch of road that was iced over. I hit a patch and lost control. I would up in the ditch and rolled the Explorer. I was wearing my seat belt and was fine. I went to the ER anyways to get checked out. I'm doing good except for a sore neck and back. The Explorer is totaled. Unfortionatly we only had the bare minimum coverage so all we'll get out of it is what the junk yard will buy it for. Still can't complain, I walked away in one piece.

Sorry to hear about the car but thank goodness you are not hurt. Prayers and bacon to you.

Will they provide you with contact information of the other children in the group in case they want to reconnect in the future? My heart breaks at the thought of them never seeing each other again. Ethan and Lauren both have siblings. However, none of them know Ethan or Lauren exist and vice versa. Lauren has 2 sisters and a brother and EThan has two brothers that I know of.

I don't know yet. Their home life was pretty messed up, so maybe the older two will remember their siblings, but I doubt the girls would since they were pretty young when removed.

Sorry to hear about the wreck, but glad everyone is ok. It stinks to replace it, but at 180K, you may be better off. The van has 185K, so it's just a matter of time.

Cool I didn't even think about staying for the fireworks. We are coming in early afternoon Saturday and are not doing our first park day till Monday so I was thinking about trying to get in for the 8pm Saturday show. That still gives us all day Sunday to try and get rested after the drive.

I don't know any people. I hope that karma thing works. I ain't perfect, but I have never tanked a project and screwed a bunch of people. I think we did the 5 PM show and were done after 7. The Poly has that sand beach do that is a nice option. Or, you could monorail around to GV and watch it there, or over to CR for a drink on terrace on 4th floor. If you time it right, lots of fun options.

Plans are being finalized for DDCC 2.

Chick here for the lastest info and a poll on where you will be staying for DDCC 2!

I was thinking of doing a smart a$$ post, but thought I would just do a plea instead. Aaron is trying to get Group rates for the DDCC 2 like he did in January, (which were every good). This poll is just seeing who is thinking about going and were they would be staying to give him an idea if he can get Group Rates.

So please take a moment and go over and vote, Please!

Still planning on going. Is the window open for booking? I thought it didn't open until around May for the following January.

Booking is not open at this time, but feel free to vote in the poll to help get DDCC 2 going!

Corey, glad you are ok! Sorry about the car. Keep an eye on your neck and back, they start hurting more, see a doctor!

Morning guys.

Corey, glad you're ok. You can always replace a car. :goodvibes

Randall, looking forward to the DisDads invading CT on Friday!:thumbsup2

Hi guys. Just popping in to say hi.

Every year, or county had a 2 day event for all the 4th graders in the county (1 day for each student). It is organized by some agriculture businesses and organizations in the community. We have 12 stations that they rotate through talking about all kind of things from stranger danger to electrical safety, ATV safety, lawnmower safety, drug education etc. It is also technically called farm safety day, so we have a station on animal safety and I teach one on grain safety. Well, aside from the rural schools, most of the kids will never be around this stuff, so I always ask a few questions of each group to find out what they know and take it from there. Today I just about lost it. I don't know if it is standardized testing or what, but if it was possible to know less than nothing, these kids pulled it off. I've never in 4 years spoken to a group of 4th graders that couldn't even tell me what I had in my hand when I showed them a Ziploc bag with what in it. Today, I had 4 out of 12 groups that couldn't do it, and 2 more that couldn't identify a bag of soy beans.

Once I tools them what it was and asked what we can make with wheat they still couldn't tell me anything other than whole wheat bread. I usually enjoy teaching these kids and interacting with them, but today I felt like I needed 2 hours, not 20 minutes with each group. It was really depressing.

But if you show them a baggie of hemp, they'll rattle off 15 different uses...

CRUD.

Went to the vending machine today. Not the one close to me with all the healthy stuff- I had to go to the other end of the building to get a butterfinger. After putting in my $.95, I press the buttons, the thing spins, and nothing comes out. It turns out there wasn't a butterfinger in the "ready to be dispensed" position. There was an empty spot and then my butterfinger. Stupid, rookie mistake.

HULK SMASH!!!

Thanks. Turned down the cortisone but probably should have taken it. One of the reasons he said surgery isn't necessary yet is because I have full use of the arm. It just hurts.
Sorry to hear about the shoulder, CJ. Next time some punk comes to ask Crash out, kick him rather than throwing him halfway across the street. That puts way too much stress on the shoulder.

Just want to sweeten the pot a bit, Spring is just a few hours away officially starting at 7:02 am 3/20/13:cheer2::cheer2::boat::beach::thumbsup2:dancer::jumping1::rainbow::rockband::hourglass:
Yippie. Wind child is -4° and we've got about a foot of snow on the ground. I can see the tulips pushing up as I type. :sad2:

I thought we were doing a June one next.

Thanks guys for the wishes about the shoulder. It feels a little better today. Norm, it does suck about not diving. Soon it will be prime diving weather. Barry, I'll try to take your advice. Unfortunately, the kid that dared to ask DD to the prom is still around. Luckily he is in Miami and she is in New Jersey. To much distance to meet on any regular basis.

I feel for you guys. It snowed in NJ two days ago and even the Pirate Princess is getting tired of winter.

Sorry about the vehicle, but the important thing is you are okay. Keep an eye on the back and neck, just in case.

Happy first day of spring everyone.... or as it's known back in Edmonton, only 6 more weeks of winter. :rotfl2:

Last day at the office today before we head to Maui. I hear they have a restaurant that let's you sit down at a table less than 2 hours after you check in there... will have to see if its any good.

Well got to start my day of meetings / hand offs.

Prayers for those in need, praise for those deserving, bacon for all.

Corey, glad you're ok. Looks like it could have been really bad...

Glad today is the 1st Day of Spring... Means we are one season closer to summer! :cool1:

Thanks all for the birthday wishes for the Twinks... I scrolled through and let them read last night, it made them smile!
