DDC XXVII: Penguins in Paradise!

Howdy, we are good here, hate that I haven't been on the boards alot but been trying to get DD and myself a house, it's tricky when your looking around 100k and you don't want your DD playing in the backyard next to barking pitbulls (seriously 2 great houses I had to look away from because of chained up pitbulls next door and little to no fence) but we will keep on looking

Well, good luck with finding a great house. Around here $100K might get you a shed or maybe a boat house. Home prices, even with the economy, are crazy expensive up here. One friend just reduced his asking price to $1.2 million:eek::eek: because it wasn't selling fast enough. I told him I would buy it if he was OK with a 100 year mortgage that would be paid off by my kids grandkids.:lmao: Sounds like pitbulls are pretty common where you are. Up here they are not really viewed in a positive light.

He's not sterile.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl:

Congrats Justin and David! :cool1::cool1:

And Congrats to Randall too! Only 4 more sleeps until you get to hang out with me!!!!:thumbsup2

Are you having nightmares about penguins yet. You do know they travel with him, right?:wave2:

Morning all…

If people drank more, you guys would have less to count and would be done quicker. ;)

Naaa… they’d just make more and the counting would be the same.
But we all might be in a better mood.

Today marks both the 10th anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq, and, my DS is now 10 years old.

I choose to focus on the happiness of my son's birth over the beginning of a War on this particular day.

Hooray! I get to pay higher WDW prices for him now! (but no more is he limited to the kids menu!)

Happy birthday to your boy.
Our condolences on his now being an adult (in Disney’s eyes that is :lmao:)

Hi Guys!

I don'g get on this board as much as the other spots... But wanted to drop by and say I and hope all is well...

Today is a pretty big day for us as our twins and youngest (Claire princess: and Cloie princess:), turn 9... It's been a crazy 9 years and the twins have defiantly made things interesting. These two have really turned up the love of all things Disney and helped this family get even more involved!

And two more birthdays!
This seems to be a popular day for getting born.
A wondrous birthday wish for each of them as well.

Morning guys. Woke up to about 4-5 inches of snow. i'm done with winter. ;)

The problem is that winter just ain’t done with you.

Happy birthday to your DS! My first born turns 13 on the 25th. Can't believe he is a teenager now. I feel old.:sad2:

...you live in Boston!

We had 9.3 inches this morning according to measuring stick. :headache::mad: This morning I heard another storm is coming Thursday. Supposed to stay south with maybe some rain/snow, but hopefully it misses us.

I'm pretty sure I don't like that groundhog in PA. I thought he promised an early spring. :faint:

I have not really good news and bad news. Saw the doctor this morning about the shoulder. The verdict? Probably a torn Rotator Cuff. Probable because he would need to confirm it with an MRI which would cost me big bucks. They won’t recommend surgery without the MRI and besides the surgery would cost additional big bucks. I am not really a good candidate for surgery right now anyway.

The good news that is not really good news is he wants me to try to rehab it. I now have a number of exercise to do to try to fix it. The really bad news is no diving for at least a couple of months. He did give me a prescription for good drugs but I am under orders to take them only when it gets really bad. Not a happy camper right now.

Not for nothing, but I have rotator cuff issues...and I've been told that surgery is sometimes successful, sometimes not, sometimes makes it worse. Therefore, I'm opting just to deal with it....

Is the falling out of the boat incident also on page 1?

Forget the previous statement....go get the surgery..:lmao:

Michael, you are way funnier than Gibbs! :lmao:

Chris.....I hate that you are still having trouble with your gut and that you have to wait until April 10 to get it checked out more!! Is there no way they can get you in sooner since you are having so much trouble?
They've already got me on the waitlist. I just called them again and left a message asking if there have been any cancellations. We'll see. It bums me out too. I had grand plans of doing a ton of running this year and then in 2014 run every Disney Race (except the princess ones) on both coasts. Probably wouldn't have happened anyway, but I'm off to a lousy start.
Steve, 2 of the six have been adopted to other countries. The other four are in foster care within Poland.

Do you know where in Poland?

It seems that winter has other plans for you. :rolleyes1

I'd better be careful with the teasing. Who am I kidding, it's supposed to be a high of 24 here tomorrow. Winter s@cks.

You've got plenty of time to figure it out. I expect to see you at the start line on 1/11. :thumbsup2

Well now! Steve just earned himself a dole whip! They called me back and can get me in a week from today at 8:15 am. That shaves 15 days off of my wait time. Well done, sir. Next time we're at WDW together your first dole whip is on me (bacon optional).

Well...that sucks. Is there a decent chance rehab would work?

My kids are still upset they didn't get a single snow day this year. We'd take it off your hands for their sake.

I'd say congratulations, but...well, at least it'll get overwith sooner.

Hi guys. Just popping in to say hi.

Every year, or county had a 2 day event for all the 4th graders in the county (1 day for each student). It is organized by some agriculture businesses and organizations in the community. We have 12 stations that they rotate through talking about all kind of things from stranger danger to electrical safety, ATV safety, lawnmower safety, drug education etc. It is also technically called farm safety day, so we have a station on animal safety and I teach one on grain safety. Well, aside from the rural schools, most of the kids will never be around this stuff, so I always ask a few questions of each group to find out what they know and take it from there. Today I just about lost it. I don't know if it is standardized testing or what, but if it was possible to know less than nothing, these kids pulled it off. I've never in 4 years spoken to a group of 4th graders that couldn't even tell me what I had in my hand when I showed them a Ziploc bag with what in it. Today, I had 4 out of 12 groups that couldn't do it, and 2 more that couldn't identify a bag of soy beans.

Once I tools them what it was and asked what we can make with wheat they still couldn't tell me anything other than whole wheat bread. I usually enjoy teaching these kids and interacting with them, but today I felt like I needed 2 hours, not 20 minutes with each group. It was really depressing.

CRUD.

Went to the vending machine today. Not the one close to me with all the healthy stuff- I had to go to the other end of the building to get a butterfinger. After putting in my $.95, I press the buttons, the thing spins, and nothing comes out. It turns out there wasn't a butterfinger in the "ready to be dispensed" position. There was an empty spot and then my butterfinger. Stupid, rookie mistake.

I won'y be able to do the TS on the 22nd, however an afternoon of the 23rd I think a pre-Hoop-Dee-Doo beverage of the British variety would be just what the DisDad ordered.

Dinner is at 7:20 for us. We can toss one (or two) back anytime before then.

Sorry to hear that CJ. Did he offer cortisone shots at all? I had a slight tear a few years ago from softball and went for cortisone shots every couple of months and some rehab. The shots really helped the pain.

Good luck with it healing and hopefully you can avoid the surgery. My assistant hoops coach had his operated on a couple of months ago. It is a painful and long recovery from the surgical solution. I'm sure it depends on the specific injury, but I wouldn't even wish it on my nemesis.:goodvibes

Thanks. Turned down the cortisone but probably should have taken it. One of the reasons he said surgery isn't necessary yet is because I have full use of the arm. It just hurts.

Another reason he wasn't knife happy. I will be watching NCIS tonight.

Will they provide you with contact information of the other children in the group in case they want to reconnect in the future? My heart breaks at the thought of them never seeing each other again. Ethan and Lauren both have siblings. However, none of them know Ethan or Lauren exist and vice versa. Lauren has 2 sisters and a brother and EThan has two brothers that I know of.
