So we officially booked our wedding on the Wonder for this August. Now we are waiting to hear back from the wedding coordinator. Any idea on long it usually takes to hear back? They said 48 hours but it has already passed the 48 hour mark. Thanks!

Liz

Congrats! I booked my cruise through my travel agent and she forwarded an email to me from Meredith either that day or the next day! However I then received an email from Meredith (pretty much the same one) a day or two after that! You should here something soon :)

Congrats, Jessica! I was on that V-day Wonder cruise with you AND in your FE group :) Feel free to ask any questions you have along the way!! These brides have a LOT of fun ideas!

I finally put two and two together as I was posting that lol. I loved your FE gifts...so creative. They will be hanging in my new house:)

I heard back in less than 24 hours from Meredith. I would expect a call at the beginning of this week:)

I'm so glad I found this board. We are planning our second disney cruise. We just did the Dream to the Bahamas and this time we'll be aboard the Wonder to Alaska in June 2014 and since our family was also going we decided to get married. We are so excited I look forward to reading the post and getting advice.

I am glad to hear we are not the only ones that decided on an Alaskan cruise wedding. We are getting married on our trip in August since our families were also already booked on the cruise with us. Have fun with your planning!

Congratulations Liz. You'll definitely have to let me know how it goes and any suggestions that might be helpful.

So as I am looking at the paperwork for the wedding, I see that Palo is only available for the 2 of us. Would we still be able to book the 8 of us to dine at Palo together the night of the wedding and pay for our guests? We were thinking it would be nice if we could dine together that night and not be in the main dining room. Thanks!

Yes, you would just pay the $20 per person for the guests other than you and the groom, or it can be charged to their state room! I believe you just have to indicate on your planning guide who is dinning with you!

If you don't want to pay, we talked to Meredith and asked she said that would be fine. You can choose another night to eat at the Palo with just your husband and the night of the wedding you can eat at the Titan which is the nicer dining place on the Wonder and also take your cake and have it in there. This is what we plan on doing. If you decided to do that also just make sure you tell Meredith so she can make sure your itinerary states that you'll eat at the Titan the night of your wedding instead of another dining room.

Ok, past brides. Im looking for a little help here. Is anyone willing to share their real-life photos of their wedding cakes? I've seen the photos that Meredith sent in my planning guide, but I would love to see your photos. I'm having a bit of anxiety about the cake. Was yours as pretty as the pictures? Was it dry? Rich? Are there flavors you would/would not recommend? I hate that I'm deciding on a flavor having never tasted it.

I chose white cake with the bottom tier raspberry buttercream and the top layer caramel chocolate ganache- I only had a couple pieces of the Raspberry Buttercream layer, and it was very good- I'm not a huge cake lover, and it wasn't too sweet like some cakes are, and it definitely wasn't dry. You'd have to ask the other gals how they liked their different flavors! I had 45 guests (47 of us total) so I'm not certain if they only used our two tier cake or if they also included a sheet cake- I honestly don't know but we ended up with a LOT of cake leftover! They brought it to us at dinner at Royal Palace that night and we STILL had leftovers. We told them to take it back and give it to the cast members if they were allowed to have it! They also sent a piece of each flavor to our room, but we didn't end up eating them. I feel like we had SO much food on the cruise that I just didn't end up having room after a late seating of dinner! As for the topper, I got a glass Cinderella Castle from Arribas Bros at Downtown Disney and they placed the included Mickey/Minnie cake topper on the same table. I thought the cake table was decorated very nicely- it had little floral pieces that matched my bouquet and rose petals!

On my PJ/TR I have a whole heap of medium sized photos of my wedding and there's also a link to ALL of my photographers photos- unfortunately with photobucket's new formatting I can't figure out how access and paste the proper code here right now. If you're stressing, feel free to stalk my wedding to try to ease your mind! I know I did a LOT of searching to find photos of other DCL weddings when I was in my planning phase!! It always made me feel better when I viewed others wedding photos! :goodvibes

I am also interested in what every one had for cake flavors and if they liked it or would change!

Jillian I know you said on the podcast that you wouldn't go with the chocolate Carmel ganache because it was too hard. if you could change that layer, what would you pick? Has anyone else had this experience?

Thanks
Jodi

hello my little brides! Glad to see you all are still planning and using this thread!!

I have to admit, I haven't even listened to my podcast (I hate hearing myself! so weird!) but I don't recall saying anything about my chocolate caramel ganache layer because I didn't even touch or taste that layer! (Nor have I heard any feedback from my guests about that flavor, to be honest) I only cut through my Raspberry Buttercream layer of the main tier with Michael and that's the only flavor I had a chance to try. It was a little difficult to cut, but then again I don't cut large cakes often, and it was also difficult with FOUR hands on a little cake cutter (plus fondant is never easy to cut through)! I have heard from OTHER brides that one of the chocolate options can be hard, but I simply didn't have a chance to try it. I would not go back and change the flavors because it gave my guests an option between chocolate/caramel and raspberry. Neither I nor Michael are chocoholics, so we had white cake on both layers. My cake was good and I liked it a lot! If you're hesitant on a flavor, I would put that kind on your smaller top tier and keep the one that you're enthusiastic about on your larger bottom tier.

If you go to my photos on the photographer's Smug Mug website, the pages where all of my cake/cake table photos are located are on Pages 5 & 23 & 24 & 26

Jillian,

I am sorry if it wasn't you, I may have been mistaken and it might have been another DCL bride. SORRY! I'm glad hear that there were no complaints about your cake and flavor choices.

Jodi

That's okay! I was just thinking... Uhh Ohh, Did I really say that? Cause I feel like I was totally rambling when we were recording the podcast! :rotfl: I wouldn't know because I'm too chicken to listen to it!

LOL! Ok so I'm officially loosing my mind! I listened to your podcast again and no you didn't say that! Don't be too chicken you sounded great and had a lot of great information! I understand about not liking the sound of your voice, I'm the same way!

I also listened again to the podcast with Lisa Reese and I don't know where I came up with it!

Ok so I'm not loosing my mind, yay! It was Kristie, from Carrie's Nov 7 podcast!! She didn't recommend the chocolate Carmel ganache because it got hard!

Jillian, thanks for getting back to me. :) I couldn't find any pictures of your cake (password protected) So, I will PM you for that.

When booking our wedding, I had talked to Meredith with concerns of the cake size for the number of guests. She told me it's one of those "magic" Disney touches. So I'm assuming there are additional sheet cakes.

NEXT QUESTION....My DF and I will be getting married on the 2/23/14 4night Dream Bahamian Cruise. We are ROUGHLY about a year out. Does anyone have any suggestions on when to ask people to RSVP. Or has anyone done/recommend doing PRE-RSVP requests?

PS THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP :)
