Magic - March 19, 2013 - Galveston 4 night Caribbean

I had a friend who was on the Triumph, Carnival cruise that was stranded, with an amazing survival story! She sent me this list of items she would take, in case of emergency. Praying this won't be needed, but I thought I would share just in case...

-Flashlights (one for EACH person)
-Hand sanitizer
-Wet wipes
-Clorox wipes?
-Power strip/Ext Cord (always handy anyway, but when the scavengers found outlets in the emergency power system behind ATMs, you could get a turn charging your phone faster if you had your own power strip and/or extension cord that you were willing to share- otherwise you had to just sit and wait for an outlet opening)
-Spare batteries
-USB cord
-Snacks (especially crackers)
-Safety pins
-Good camera
-Hand mirror (when the room was dark, the mirror did no good - had to take hand mirror out in sunlight to put on makeup last day)
-Sunscreen
-Ziploc bags (may pack toiletries in them anyway... but is good to have in case you did need to pack emergency stuff for lifeboats - put money, passport, camera memory card, etc.. in ziploc
-Little shoulder bag (small enough to fit close to body with across the chest type strap - just big enough to hold the ziploc bag of money, passport, etc, some sunscreen, chapstick, any meds you need...)- since they prob wouldn't let you take a BAG on board a life boat, a little bag this big would go nearly unnoticed, but have your essentials.
-Hat
-Personal cup/bottle (like a straw cup - when they were pouring drinks, you could get more if you had your own cup instead of using their little disposable ones, and when cups ran out, you could only get drinks if you had your own cup.)
-Extra meds (antibiotic if possible - but take extra days of anything you must take daily)
-Tummy meds (including anti-diarrheal - pooping in bags is not a time you want to have the runs!)
-Lysol or room freshener spray (body spray will even do the trick)
-Small lantern style flashlight (would help light a small area without having to hold it)
-Leave In Conditioner (when showers are quick and limited, it helps to have one less thing that has to wash out!)
-Hydrocortisone cream (strange rashes can show up when you're confined to these types of areas)
-Duct tape?

Thanks so much. My last minute attempt at a FE cracks me up (and it will crack you up too). It will do just fine. Head several other last minute things I was trying to get ready. The boyz are packed, just waiting on mom.

We head out at noon for our pre-cruise excursion to OKC and Galveston.

We are meeting some other friends on the cruise so doubt we make it to the Meet & Greet.

We're leaving Monday morning from KC, just finishing up laundry and still trying to find a box of spring/summer clothing I "tucked away" so I wouldn't misplace it!! Not to mention kiddo disappeared for a while earlier, she wanted to be helpful and pack herself...she packed swimsuits and Monster High dolls -- we are repacking now :upsidedow

We arrived in Galveston this morning and spent the day at Moody Gardens. Going to go to Pleasure Pier tomorrow and hang out at the beach/pool. My girls still don't know about the cruise! They are gonna freak out!! Can't wait!!!

Same here. We are at the holiday inn sunspree. The kids still think we are here for the entire week. We mentioned how one of the other hotels looked nicer and we might switch. When we switch "hotels" they will be very surprised. I hope they aren't disappointed the room will be half the size. :-).

ksucats & tmcm611 you guy are crazy!!!! My kids would have killed me if I waited!!

We drove from Wentzville, MO (St. Louis) to The Woodlands, just north of Houston today....... WOW what a day..... See you all soon!!:cool1:

Made it to Galveston! So excited :) :) :)

Don't let your kids talk you into the four person bikes. They look like fun, but after one full hour I am toast. Nothing else big for me today. A couple beers, some fish tacos and then bed. The kids are buying tight into our story of changing hotels. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Sunspree in Jamaica a couple years ago. This one doesn't come close to as much fun as that one was ad they want to move. Thy keep asking where and I keep pretending to look up places. Pretty soon I will tell them I found a place with a kids club. Just not sure what to tell them the name is. They talked to some kids in the pool who are going on the Magic tomorrow, so now they know it is sailing from here.

Driving through Houston. Spent the night in Dallas and went to the Sixth Floor Museum and learned about JFK's assassination. We just made a vacation of the roadtrip. See ya real soon!!:cool1:

Made it to Galveston yesterday. Had fun walking around and hanging out on the beach. What is the best time to show up at the port for boarding? I have read and heard a couple different times.

We are excited for our first Disney Cruise! See everyone at the meet and greet. We'll be the ones in the Mickey Mouse shirts... probably the only ones :rotfl2:

Packed entirely too much...oh we'll! I have never packed 4 for a cruise...ugh :) We are 45 minutes away at my brothers and will arrive early afternoon :cool1: We can't wait!!!

Looked out the door at the hotel this morning and saw the Magic. We are even more excited than before!! Can't wait to board! But obviously we will since our PAT is 12:30 :(

We made it yesterday and spent the afternoon at the beach. Got a call from father in law that a pipe burst in our newly built home and our front office flooded!!! Our family ran over and pumped water, moved furinture and pulled carpet. They started the insurace process, got the plumbers started on repairs and we will be abe to deal with the rest after we get home. Thank you Jesus for our family! They saved us from having to turn around and go home. :scared: so- yeah, praise God - we are here! Woo-hoo

Thank you for those who organized and participated in the FE exchange!! It was my first time on Disney and "exchanging"...but OMG - it's CLEARLY not ya'll's first time. :)

I can't believe how creative and generous everyone was! It's difficult to even pick a favorite gift because they were ALL so spot on, creative, and just plain fun!

The autograph book!!! the coasters!! all the magnets - personalized even!! the mouse pad!! the candy!! the tattoos! the glow sticks!! the luggage tags! the tote bags! the nightlights! the books!! the "survival kits" and hand sanitizer!! the socks!! the crayon sets! the softsoap!!! pirate masks!!! the alcohol!!! I'm sure I'm leaving out stuff...

Thank you - we loved getting each and every gift.... AND I'm filled with ideas for next time. :)

Thanks to everyone for the FE gifts!! My girls absolutely LOVED everything they got!

To all of our FE friends...from our family to yours...we say thank you!!

My kiddos were Happy Happy Happy everytime we came back to the Stateroom and saw the wonderful items :) I can say my husband and I were, too!

I can't believe it's over :(
