Hello Disers! :wizard:

It has been a while since I have been over on the TR board. My last trip report, Racing to Lose a Toenail ~ My Half-Marathon Weekend, ended and life got busy. We bought our first house, moved in, and I started taking classes again to earn my Bachelors Degree. Then my husband deployed--again.

I mentioned at the end of the last TR that I was doing the Marathon Relay during marathon weekend 2012. I'm happy to report I did complete that race and earned another medal. :thumbsup2 I didn't take many pictures of myself that weekend (or none that I want to share anyway!), but I do have this one with my medal:

Those who followed along with my PTR, My Magical Journey to Running a Half-Marathon, will be disappointed to know that I stopped running and gained back all the weight I'd lost. :faint: BUT! I am back on track and am returning to WDW next January for another half-marathon (and 5k). :yay: It was difficult to see all of my Duck friends down there this year and not be a part of the fun.

So, let's catch up, shall we? For those who have absolutely no clue who I am, my name is Carissa. I'm about to turn 39 and mother to three boys: Sullivan (12), Owen (10), and Connor (8). I've been at home with them since Sully was born and have been homeschooling for all but two of their school years. My husband Chuck is active duty Navy, but currently on terminal leave as he prepares to retire next month after 20 years of service. In addition to homeschooling, I am taking classes full-time online and by the end of this year will have a Bachelors Degree with a major in social sciences and a minor in human resource management.

The last time we went to WDW as a family was in March 2009. If you are so inclined, you can read that TR, What's the Big Deal With Staying On Property Anyway? (And if you're REALLY bored, you can also read about our 2nd trip, Our 2nd Trip to Disney ~ Did It Measure Up? That last trip was our third trip in three years and we needed to take a break from Disney (mostly my husband felt we should take a break). But we talked about taking a trip in 2013 to celebrate Chuck's retirement from the Navy. So here we are! :cool1:

Here is a picture of us on our last family trip:

As you can see, we had our friend Stitch join us on that trip and you can read all about that if you read our last TR. Stitch decided he wanted to join us on this trip as well. He's tired of the cold winter and wants to soak up some rays!

**Full Disclosure--This is not THE Stitch that went with us last time and we sent to Keith in California. This is another Stitch that we adopted.**

And here is the most recent family picture I have--taken Christmas 2011

This one of the boys was taken this past Christmas:

Who is S.O.C.K. you might ask? Well, they are my boys' initials in order of age: Sullivan Owen Connor K(last name). They started referring to themselves as S.O.C.K. a while back. We even have the letters hanging on the wall in our loft--their main hangout.

Now that all the boring stuff is out of the way, let's get to the details of this trip!

We hit the road on Monday, March 11th and drive straight to Orlando. We'll be staying the first night at a hotel offsite. I forgot to mention we'll have our dog, Baxter, with us.

Isn't he cute??

Tuesday morning we'll bring Baxter to the kennel on property, Best Friends Pet Care, and check in to the cabins at Fort Wildnerness. Some of you might remember my wish to stay at the Fort and it is finally coming true! :woohoo:

We'll be in WDW until Tuesday, March 19th. We will also be visiting Legoland and driving to Clearwater and the aquarium to visit Winter the dolphin from the movie Dolphin Tale.

Phew! That was a bit long, eh? Hope you're still with me and awake. I will probably post a few updates between now and our departure so check back often. I will post links in this first post to all updates in case you don't like to read through all the chit-chat. It's been known to get a bit chatty in here. :rolleyes1

:welcome: Karen!

I read through my entire 2009 TR last night and it made me really want to do one this time. It's hard to share all of the details of a trip on Facebook. But this means I'll probably post fewer pictures on FB so that I don't spoil it for those who want to read the TR.

I'm here! Can't wait to hear about the trip! I'm sure it will be awesome!

Yay! Jenny! So glad I'll have at least two readers. ::yes::

Hope I can remember how to work this thing. :confused3

Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

I followed you over.
I'm interested to see how Baxter will do.
My dh is freaking already that he will miss the dog.
Your guys are getting so big.

I'm here! I haven't even finished my TR from our trip last August. :guilty:

Looking forward to the trip and you will love Clearwater and the Aquarium. Can't wait to hear about the adventures.

And Baxter will have a great visit to WDW.

It's just like riding a bike. :moped:

Glad you're here, Keith. :)

Hey Marisa! :)

We thought about leaving him in a kennel up here, but figured it would be better to have him down there with us. We can stop by every day and take him to the dog park. I'm nervous as he's never stayed in a kennel before. :( I'm hoping he does okay.

And yes they are! I was looking at pictures from our last trip and they've changed so much!

Melissa! I'll have to go check out your TR. :beach:

And I'm sure this TR will be slow going with my crazy life (which may include a part-time job once we get back).

Looking forward to hearing about your trip! :)

:welcome: Thanks for stopping by. :)

Woo-Hoo!!! So glad you are doing a report Carissa! I've been missing my "old" DIS friends on my report so I'm happy to be able to follow along on yours! :goodvibes

It's so cool that you are finally getting your "camping" trip! Those cabins are far from camping, though! I hear they're pretty swanky! :thumbsup2

Congrats and Thank you to Chuck for 20 years of service. And to you as well for all the years of sacrifice while he served and was deployed. :goodvibes

Taking Baxter?? How fun! Is he a good traveler?

SO SO excited that you are here and doing this! The last time we went was in 2009 as well...the boys, yours and mine...have really grown up!

First, like any good planner, I've been keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Want to see what the week looks like?

(Sorry about the quality. I took a picture of my screen.)

Looks like the chance of rain is pretty minimal. A bit of a concern with a possible storm on Tuesday, but we won't be in the parks that day so no big deal. After the winter we've had, I'm ready for some warm (hot) weather! :cool2:

Yesterday we worked on making some shirts for our trip.

I'm a bit disappointed with how the backs turned out. Should have used a darker color. The yellow barely shows up. Oh well.

I've started packing for myself and the boys. I'll do a final load of laundry on Sunday to finish up. Tomorrow I have to finish my last final (did two others already this week) and run some errands for pet food and snacks for the trip. Sunday will be devoted to housework (we have a petsitter coming by while we're gone to look after our cats Oreo and Pumpkin and our Russian Tortoise Darwin) and finishing up the packing.

I'll probably spend lots of time this weekend doing more research and printing stuff out. I feel very out of the loop with what's going on WDW these days. Yesterday I discovered an app for my phone for Legoland that should come in very handy.

To let you know what's coming, we only have two ADRs this trip: Sanaa and Sci Fi Drive Inn Theater (this will be our third time there). We plan to have quite a few meals in our cabin to save money. But there will definitely be eating at CS places.

I always try to provide lots of useful information in my TRs for those who may be reading for research on upcoming trips. If there is anything you'd like me to report on while I'm there, let me know and I'll do my best. :)

Some of the things on our agenda:

* Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom
* Check out all of the food at the Flower and Garden Festival
* Go to the Clearwater Aquarium and the beach
* Visit Legoland
* Eat lunch at Be Our Guest
* Fishing at FW
* Boating at FW
* Movies and s'mores at FW

I know! I'm finally going "camping" at Fort Wilderness! LOL We're getting a 40% military discount on the cabins. Which seems like a lot but since it's high season when we're going, they're still pretty pricey.

Yes, Baxter is a wonderful traveler! We normally put the crate in the back of the van for him, but it takes up so much space. So we've decided to skip it this time. I'm sure he'll do fine.

I was thinking the same thing when I was reading your PTR. Our boys haven't been back 2009! I really wish our trips were overlapping. :( Maybe someday!

I forgot about Legoland. We went the last trip and no one was there. Road almost every ride, saw the park and left by 4pm. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to answer.

Cool! Thanks! I did a lot of reading about best plans and it seems heading to the back and doing the big rides first is best. Their hours seem longer when we're there compared to their typical 10-5.

I'm starting to think about not going to Clearwater. It would save us money if we skipped it and it would give us a down day to relax at the Fort and take in all it has to offer.

I will be following along as I count the days to being there right behind you. I am not in the forecast window yet, but I am looking at it every day already. Unless things change, it looks like we will hang out in the low 80's. I hope our rain percentages stay low. ::yes::

Sully is getting so tall!

Hope you guys have fun at the Fort! :cool1:

Hey Caren! :) Yes he is! He's taller than me now. At 12!

I'm sure we'll have a blast. I'm so excited! I know I've been back twice since 2009, but not being there with the family is very different.

I am excited to join in the fun!

My husband uses an acronym for all of our names (but it is not appropriate to use on shirts :rotfl:)
