Official 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler

Just signed up and am really excited! This will be my 2nd Disney race. Coming down with my sister (who's not running) and staying at Art of Animation. Since it's not a host resort, we're going to have to figure out transportation. Probably end up renting a car for a couple days.

DH and I are thinking about AoA too so after some reading I found out you can actually walk from AoA to POP (which is a host resort) so maybe something to consider so you don't necessarily have to rent a car :0) (I will say I do not know how long the walk is though lol)

I'm on the east coast, about 1 hr north of WPB. Yes, the course should be nice, goes through the community of Tradition, that's where I live dde03
Oh cool, I've heard wonderful things about Tradition!

Nearly a local.... 95% sure to be one for this race. I AM in the same boat with DVC.... I think I have 18 points left for the next use year. Thankfully that rolls over before the marathon and I have more than enough points for January.
Lucky! I'm borrowed through 2014, lol! But thinking of switching things around...
And great news on almost being local - fingers crossed for you!

Any guesses on how much runDisney might bump up the cap for TOT? Having Princess to compare with now, I much preferred the smaller feel of TOT. I really want to be a legacy for this one, but not if it becomes a giant fiasco over time.

Thanks! It's lovely here. I can walk to Publix, if need be. 3 minutes away are Target, BBB, Sports Authority, Longhorn and Olive Garden, just to name a few.

i am 99.9% sure that i am in!!!

we're planning to stay at AofA! we will probably get a cab back to the resort though. i'm thinking it's going to be worth whatever it costs. ha!

i'll be going with my sister and two oldest kids. we're going to leave the toddler home with Daddy. that will be HARD (to leave him home), but i'm thinking he wouldn't enjoy himself at the after-party or at MNSSHP.

Just curious.. what are you all getting for race discounts for rooms? i am waiting to get my time off ok'd, and trying to budget..
Also, can you just give a deposit and pay the rest later?

I booked my flight today! Just wanted to share that info with people who would understand my enthusiasm!

Good luck!

Completely? Or just for race discount?? :confused3

Looking at the Central Ressie site; if you reserve just the Saturday night, regular rooms are available in both resort hotels. However, extending either way from the one night puts you in a Club level only or a suite. Actually, that seems to hold true for all resort hotels in that area including the Swan/Dolphin.

Obviously that can change quickly. Worth a phone call to CRO if you want the ability to walk to the start and back from the race.

I did mine at Art of Animation and plan to just walk over to Pop Century to get the bus... Paid for 1 night, the rest due when I check in. No discounts for the Little Mermaid rooms, unfortunately...
If you go through central reservations for room only, it's 1 night deposit the rest due at check in.
If you add park tickets and/or dining plan at central reservations or go through runDisney/travel agency, it's deposit of 1 night balance when you reserve and the rest due 45 days before check in.

Agreed, Coach! I was checking form 10/4-10/7. No luck at present

Actually- if you turn your booking into a package by adding tickets and dinning, the deposit then is $200 with balance due 45 prior to arrival

Most definitely... the count down bar popps up at 50%. Do note that in 2012 this was a fast fill race. I would expect it to be full before Memorial Day - that is unless the capacity was grown.

Thanks Coach! :) They must have upped the capacity, I'm surprised I haven't seen a 50% countdown bar yet!

Just booked our room for the Tower of Terror race- we're staying at the Boardwalk!! DH ran the ToT last year and we'll run it together this year!

Quick question - can you walk from the Boardwalk to the bus stop at the Yacht/Beach Club?

Sorry if it is a stupid question - I haven't been to the Boardwalk in over a decade (didn't make it during this year's trip!).

You can walk from BW to YC/BC -- I wish I could remember how long the walk was. We asked at the Inkeepers Lounge when we stayed at BW in Dec, but then opted to just take the boat across, but yes, you can walk. The bridge across is near Swan/Dolphin.
