It has taken me a while but I finally have the picture of my DD's birthday cake. We ordered it through AoA to be delivered to the food court for our pick up. I sent the image and all of the details I wanted included in the cake. I went with this particular design choice because I wanted a slightly more grown up looking Ariel cake. I requested a six inch red velvet with cream cheese filling and buttercream on the outside. I asked for a dark color to resemble the ocean at night and things from Ariel's grotto. I was quoted $60 +tax. My DD loved the cake and it was absolutely delicious!! Better than the one we got from GF in my opinion.

Here's the photo:

ohh--I had an idea. My girls are fraternal twins, so how about a Secret of the Wings cake with images of Periwinkle and Tink?

That with a fireworks theme since we'll have cake while watching Illuminations? Any ideas about something I could suggest? My girls love the movie. (They are turning 9)

IMHO the best looking cakes are the ones with a simple theme, rather than multiple ideas all squeezed onto one cake. I'll bet if you told the Yacht Club you wanted a cake with a Secret of the Wings theme and provided a photo, you'd get something great!

That's a great point--thank you!

Most of the WDW cakes, including the ones I've ordered in the past, are placed on decorative cake foil covered drums or boards. Now, non-WDW bakeries commonly cover their drums/boards with fondant and other decor to compliment the cake.

Does anyone know if any of the WDW bakeries will do this if asked? Or has anyone been told no?

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to throw at me for this: I wanted to order a cake (probably to be delivered to our room at POR) for a cosmetology graduation. This is for a girl in love with the princesses, and while Rapunzel isn't her top, she's pretty close to it and I was thinking that she'd be the most appropriate one for a hair dresser's graduation lol Now, I've never ordered a graduation cake from Disney and I'm not sure where to go with this cosmetology school graduation Rapunzel cake theme...anyone have any ideas? Thanks! I was thinking a 6" cake.

Hi Everyone! We usually stay at the Yacht Club and I have a tradition of ordering my husband the White Chocolate Mickey & Strawberries on our arrival day. This time we are trying Port Orleans for something new. Based on the "by location" thread it looks like Boardwalk Inn is my option for delivery and they don't offer the white chocolate mickey. Is there any other way I can get one? Even if it means picking it up at another resort that's fine. Thank you for any help you can offer!

That's an awesome cake for that price. You did well.

I agree! They exceeded my expectations by far. I wish I had taken more views of the cake. Since Ariel is sitting on a rock they had made chocolate rocks to help support the 2D image. Just so many details were included. I will now try to plan cake delivery places that are serviced by the Yacht & Beach Club bakery! ;)

I'll bet they would. We got a fondant-covered cake board without even asking for the anniversary cake we just ordered at the Contemporary...

Of course, it was then set atop a second, naked cake board, so maybe not! :rotfl:

BoardWalk Bakery should have access to the white chocolate Mickey. Just be sure you place your order through Port Orleans - if you call BWB directly, they will tell you they don't deliver to PO.

Alternatively, it might be easier to order your usual from Yacht Club Private Dining and have them leave it for you to pick up at Captain's Grille or one of the other restaurants at Y&BC.

Nice! It's definitely a step closer to what I'm looking for ... so it give me hope. :goodvibes I still have a solid 6 months before I need to be putting in any orders (assuming the trip works out), but we'll be doing two cakes- one of which is for me...so, just trying to plan something exciting :thumbsup2 Thanks for the pic- helps a lot!

Well we have taken the plunge and have ordered a special cake to celebrate our sons 4th birthday. It is to be a 8 inch Carrot cake with cream cheese butter cream icing decorated with Cars characters. It is going to be delivered to Be Our Guest for Dinner. I am hoping for the best but I am very nervous after reading some of the cake reviews. It really seems like there is some outstanding work done and some really really not great tasting cakes/looking cakes. Anyways I am so glad I found this thread as this is our last trip for a while and I really wanted to do something special for my little guy. I think he will be so excited.

Every year we've ordered a cake for our boys birthday and have never had any problems. This year though has been a real nightmare. I called about 10 days ago to order the cake and have it delivered to our room Monday March 11. I gave all the information to private dining who then said they would have the bakery call me to give me a price and go over all the details. The private dining lady emailed me to let me know that she would be in touch after she heard from the bakery. When I didn't hear anything last week, I followed up with her via email and was told she was still waiting to hear. As of yesterday, I still hadn't heard so I emailed her again and included the bakery people in the email reminding them that I leave on Thursday for Disney, need the cake for Monday and haven't heard from anybody yet. I did not receive a response to that email at all. I'm beyond frustrated. Does anyone have a number I can call to get directly to the bakery?

Where did you order your cake?

We have booked the UK Pubside for our anniversary gathering. There will be 10 of us - 4 adults and 6 teens. We have been working with Catering and Convention services at the Yacht and Beach Club, and have not had much luck with them - their recommendations have been off point to say the least. We have now asked for a cake for our group and below is their recommendation. Does this seem right? Do you think it is pricey compared to what others have ordered? I trust the advice on this board more than our catering manager at this point :goodvibes Thanks in advance!

10” Pistachio Almond Cake with Ricotta Butter cream with Silver Dusted White Chocolate Mickey and Minnie
“Happy 25th Anniversary Sandra & Gord”
$150++

For a 10-inch cake covered in fondant, made in fancy flavors, topped with the white chocolate Mickey and Minnie figurine, and made by one of WDW's priciest bakeries, that sounds about right. You can cut down the price by getting an 8-inch (Disney's group-size-to-cake-size recommendations are hilariously generous—we had a 6-inch cake at UK Pubside for 6 people and didn't even eat half of it), asking for buttercream covering instead of fondant, and/or ditching the Mickey and Minnie.

Hope you'll share pictures! :goodvibes

Okay after stalking this site for every I have a question. I want to order a birthday cake for my DH birthday when we are there in September. I was thinking of haveing the 3inch ontop of the 5inch (there will be only 3 of us, maybe 4) I know that we will have leftovers and that is fine. Anyway. We are staying CL at the Poly and I want the cake in the room when we come back from dinner to surprise him.

My questions is, would it be better to go through IPO or do it myself? Also correct me if I am wrong, but I need to use GF not the CR. I would like a almond cake with the passion fruit mousse. Not sure yet on what I want it to look like, but was thinking something fun and bright and party related with the Fab 5. Any ideas? Any help would be great. Also any birthday cake ideas would be wonderful too!
