Is the boardwalk inn the best overall Disney World Resort?

Really, I am a CPA and know how to crunch numbers. I add up how much breakfast , drinks , appetizers and desserts would be and I come out ahead. You are once again judging now peoples math skills and how we spend our money. having an IPO is awesome, the cms at the lounge treat you like family, the ease of getting breakfast every morning, the drinks, the atmosphere is great and I have met such nice people at the lounges. I guess I am not the only one that likes cl as it is always a big number of people. You are very condescending and bitter with your, not worth it and give to charity comments.

I stated my personal deductions in a public forum. I am certain that they are correct. If you take that personally, I can't be responsible for that. The charity comment was not condescending in the least, I was simply pointing out that part of the reason club level is a poor value is because:

1. Concierge is a preposterous waste of time. You can make your own reservations online in less time than it takes to explain them to someone else.

2. The club level lounge is basically a seating area. There are plenty of great seating areas around the resorts and lots of wonderful CMs around as well.

3. The food, while convenient, could never be worth the price. You wouldn't pay $15 for a muffin or $10 for a bottle of water at a restaurant, but it is essentially what you are doing at club level. If you are a family of 5, this scenario is different. However, if the only way to get value out of club level is to feed your family of 5 all week, it should be called the "family advantage" plan or something- not club level.

Alrighty then, but I'd submit to you doing V+A just once will add more to your vacation, heck even your life in general then club level. Or how about eating a signature restaurant every night? Or a tour? Or the fireworks cruise? Sheesh people, go to walmart before you check in a buy yourself $100 worth of food and drinks and stuff it in your closet and save yourself $$$$$$$. It's like all the sudden people go to disney world and soda, beer, cookies, muffins, and a shish-kabob are worth 20 times what they cost in the real world because they are served in the "club level"

Really, spending $400 at V+A for 2 will add more to my vacation and even my life in general than Club Level - are you serious, or are you just making ridiculous statements to be controversial?
By the way in this same thread you said that The BWI had the best Club Level of any Disney resort - did you actually stay there and now feel that it wasn't worth your money, or did you just change your opinion halfway through this thread?
As for value for money, I am not sure why you are staying at the Boardwalk at all. Why don't you stay at the Motel 6 off property and save yourself a ton of money.

I would say thank you for challenging me on this matter, because I should carefully consider how I can bless others. In fact, I may stay at a value so that I can have more to help others. We all want to have a great time at Disney and make wonderful memories. However, when someday I'm dead and gone it's more important to me that I leave a legacy of generosity and concern for the less fortunate. My tombstone isn't going to read "here lies so and so, always stayed deluxe club level no matter what" I don't know what other people who are well off give and it's not my business or really my concern. Many of my wealthy friends, however, give away 30-40 percent of their income because they have the discipline to say no to extra luxuries from time to time. It's all too easy to believe something is "worth it" until you step back and consider what am I really getting out of it and when is enough enough.

Well Victoria and Albert's is a culinary experience. Many people have never had a meal that finely prepared. It's educational, delicious, and fascinating. Victoria and Albert's will leave a distinct impression and lasting memory. Without wine it's more like $350 and that's with tax and a very generous tip.

I assume BWI has the best club level because I have stayed there and in my research on DIS etc. I haven't seen another lounge that appears as comfortable and I can't imagine nicer cast members. It was a free upgrade that I was shocked and surprised to have received a few years ago.

Motel 6 doesn't offer a good value for the money because I'd rather stay home than stay at Motel 6. I actually won this upcoming trip and am allowed to choose my accommodations.

Probably the same reason you are staying at the BWI instead of the Holiday Inn . . . . it makes them feel good, it gives them something a little nicer. Why judge so harshly?

At the poly, club level is about $130 more per night. If you stay 7 nights, it will cost you $910. You have to be loaded for $910 to be worthwhile for a snack lounge.

Well while I'm at it, I'll also say that playing the lotto and gambling is a huge waste of money, as is smoking, and drug use. There's a lot of dumb things to spend money on, and when it comes to creating suckers who will ultimately end up paying $20 for a bottle of soda, Disney wins.

You're right, there is no healthy middle ground, it's either don't go to Disney ever OR go deluxe club level. Either you give up everything or you give up nothing. All I was saying is sometimes it's okay to give up something, especially something as expensive and ultimately frivolous as club level.

But I guess you don't consider it a dumb thing to spend $400 at Victoria & Albert's, or eating at a signature restaurant and spending $6 for a baked potato when as you previously said you can go to Wal-Mart and spend $6 for 10 pound bag of potatoes.
Really, if you don't want to stay CL and pay the prices then good for you - I don't know why it should bother you or why you care what other people want to do with their money.

we stayed at BCV and didnt' care for storm along bay at all the "lazy river was short,.. trying to navigate along the pool with the sand bottom was kiling my calf muscles! that stupid littloe "whirlpool/eddy was, well stupid.

you had to go out of the pool area and cross the promenade to get to the slide entrance.

now, if we had been able to stay here when our sons were 12 and 15, they would have had a gas there. but, alas they are 31 and 34 now. but trying to keep track of little ones there? I wouldn't want to.

Imuch prefer an expansive pool (much like the big blue nemo pool at AOA. the pool at Royal Pacific 9Universal) is SO NICE!!

do you know, surprisingly, what is a very nice pool on disneyproperty? The Surf's up pool at ALl star sports. very pretty. the Old Man Island pool at POR is just too tight spaced/ too congested.

the Dig Site at Coronado springs is the best! much better than Storm along bay, with all it's hype

Well we are choosing the boardwalk over the Grand Floridian based on its location and getting a view of the boardwalk. Are we crazy?

the construction at GF is an important factor. other than that, when considering deluxe resorts, you need to consider location. esp proximity to your favorite park.

if I were there with littel kids, I would choose a monorail resort. even though we tour without children, the best part of BLT was walking to MK!

but as an adults only tour group (group of 2) we prefer the epcot resorts. we love walking (or boating) to both epcot and DHS (mor eadult oriented resorts). and of course, the boardwalk.

we ahve stayed at both the BWV and the BCV. once each. I preferred the BCV, It was quitet, we had a balcony overlookig the quiet pool and yet we were ashort walk to the boardwalk. I didi LOVE the beach club villas quiet pool
and I loved the burger at hurrican hannahs but we weren't so crazy about storm along bay.. (we had no kids with us).

at boardwalk, we had a 1st floor, standard view.. meh.


but, in April we have a BWV boardwalk view, so I am lookng forward to that. it will be noist, probably, but also fun.

see, each trip is different. out friends say "why do you go to the same place all the time?" we don't.. each tri is different!!!

continental breakfast for 5 - $50 and that's low balling it - nowhere on property will you find all you can eat beverages, pastries, hot oatmeal & fresh fruit for $10 per person.

drinks - we spend a lot of time at the resort & each person in our family has at least 4 beverages a day in the loungs, if not 6, 8 or 10. Even at the minumum of 4 per person, per day, that 20 beverages that would cost $3 each in the parks/restaraunts. There's $60.

snacks, appetizers & desserts - we use these to supplement our other meals in WDW, and easily save $50 a day for a family of 5 having these at our convenience.

So if I crunch that's $160 a day for us, we worth the $80 extra per day we paid for the CL upgrade. And it's not all about the food - it's the whole CL experience.

We have no desire, nor would we ever spend $400 on a "culinary experience" like Victoria & Alberts. To us, that's a waste of money, especially with a family of 5.

First of all- thank goodness disney is upgrading bed spreads. I notice they are all trying to imitate the look of the beautiful boardwalk inn rooms, can't blame them!

Actually, Contemporary was the first to go to the white duvets, so Boardwalk wasn't breaking any ground when it went to that type of bedding.

Anyhow, I never said anyone had to agree with me I was just gleefully sharing my well informed opinion.

That's the thing, you don't have a well-informed opinion. You can ask a million people on the Disboards about each resorts and you'll probably get close to a million different answers. You've educated yourself with people's opinions. Actually becoming well-informed comes from staying at different resorts, that's how the people you've asked so many questions of have formed their own thinking on the resorts.

Again, you're not being very well-informed, assuming everyone pays the same upcharge to get to CL. We booked our trip for next October as a bounce back when we were at Disney in January. It was just less than $50 per night to go from a standard room at Yacht Club to a CL room. We're used to staying DVC and having a kitchenette where we make breakfasts in the morning (we either order groceries or go pick some up at Publix). CL will serve as our substitute for that, plus the beers/wine/sodas/snacks, as well as IPO and CL CM help during the trip makes the splurge worth it for us.

Oh, and we've got a dinner planned at Victoria and Albert's for that trip, it's not an either-or proposition for us.

And I'm the co-chair or chairman on two charity committees, so I'm the last person who would need a lecture from someone like you about charitable giving.

I say no. I really like the BW, but like BC better. I would also rather stay at WL during the holidays. The thing I like best about BW is the boardwalk area itself, rather than the resort. I think the resort and rooms are pretty, but no prettier than other resorts. I also dislike the loooong hallways in the BWV. Also not wild about the pool area. I have no problem with the clown, I just don't think it's anything special. I like the Grotto Pool at the S&D quite a bit more than the BW pool...not to mention the pool bars at the S&D. The Epcot resorts area is hands down my favorite place to stay, but the BW would not be my first choice in that area.

I think troll is right. Won the trip? This says otherwise:

Two Adults staying 2 nights at the swan and 5 nights at the boardwalk inn.

Total price we are paying for a rental car, two round trip flights from long island, all of our hotel nights, and two 6 day non-hopper tickets=

$1,660. Yep. That's everything except for what we will pay for food and souvenirs. How? Free flights, free rental car, and two free nights at the swan all with credit card sign up bonuses. Also getting a TA rate on one park ticket and on the boardwalk inn. I could never afford it without these deals!

I'll chime in here and recommend the grand floridian. Staying there will fulfill your wish to get the best of disney before you move. It is marvelous and luxurious and impressive while being convenient as well. Every time I visit there I think "this is THE place to be." The poly and WL are cool but the floridian just screams A-MAZING
