The marshmallow camp fire roast is located in a different place then the folk tales activity. I believe 2 different groups organize each of these activities. (So you will have to look on different "lists of activities" for the times of both events. The marshmallow roast will appear with the other pool activities and if i recall correctly, the folk story might appear on the cultural activities list.

The camp fire for the marshmallow roast is near the back of the pool area look for the flamingos..if memory serves correctly. The folk tales is right outside of the hotel lobby area. Both happen year round weather permitting. We have done both, and our kids enjoyed both activities.

Thanks so much for the confirmation! We are looking forward to both fire areas now! We plan on spending a whole evening out and about the lodge, eating at Boma, night swimming, night viewing of the animals, etc. A marshmallow roast sounds like a nice way to end a great evening! And thanks Racheltori for all of the updates!

My family and I are arriving at AKL with a savannah view and bunk beds for two nights May 17-19!!!!! This is our first time at the resort and we are really really excited about the whole experience. I'm learning so much from this thread! We have stayed at the Grand Floridian and off site at the Waldorf our last two trips, so I'm happy to be returning to a Disney property!

....I'd really love to hear your comparison of GF to AKL....:thumbsup2

Leaving two weeks from today for a 6 night stay in a DVC Standard Studio rented from David's! First ever stay at AKL.

What kitchen supplies are in the standard studio kitchen of a Jambo House villa? Bowls, spoons, plates, etc? Coffee packets? Wish they had a Kurig.

What room requests should I make to have the best hopes of a savannah or partial savannah view?

Thanks!!

This should help with your first question.

As for your question about Savanna view, you should already know if you have that booked or not, renting points. If you did not pay for the points for a Savannah view, you won't get one.

Thank you for the wonderful list of amenities on AllEars! Super helpful!

I know I did not *request* a Savannah view, but I have read about other people getting one when booking a Standard Studio, so I thought there might be a certain area or such that I should request.

:)

Another thought. How easily could I get paper bowls, cups, and plates, spoons and forks at the Food Court?
When we have stayed at other Disney resorts we could easily get anything like that when we needed it.

Your studio will be stocked with all those paper & plastic products.

There is no food court at AKL. The Mara is a quick service.

I have read on the DVC boards that there are indeed a number of villas that are not so great savanna views that were reclassified as standard view. All of them are far out on the trails. So maybe requesting "away from lobby" might help. Also, you could request "Kudu trail" as this trail has savanna on both sides. However, you will be quite away from the pool and Mara.

Hope you will have a fantastic time, wherever you end up! :goodvibes

We are staying AKL CL this summer. What is the best pod to request for closest access to the lounge? Close and near stairs would be the best combo.

You will most likely be in the 1st or 2nd pod off the lobby -- on either Kudu or Zebra Trail. The only request I ever make for AKL-CL is "close to lobby" and that seems to always get me in the first pod, usually on Kudu Trail! :thumbsup2
