Loving the rum and coke pic!!!

For the cabana rental, I'm gathering from the earlier posts that it is prepaid and not just held with a cc?

I booked mine two days ago, and as of just now my cc has not been charged. Not sure if its a hold or has not yet been processed. Either way, it's fully refundable with a 24 hour cancellation. FWIW, both my HDDR and WAT ressies were charged immediately. Massages at Senses were not.

Thank you so much for posting your awesome pictures.....makes me so excited for our upcoming August trip! :thumbsup2

One question.......is is hard to get chairs/lounge chairs for the movie or just hanging out? I know this will depend on the time of year, but just trying to get an idea. I've never stayed at the Poly and not sure how many chairs they have on the beach.

We usually go every year in may and there always seems to be plenty of chairs. The cast members start gathering lounge chairs and place them in one area set up on the beach for the movie. But of course you can move them around if needed.

I'm not sure ... They have already been set up by the time we got there. Some were set up facing MK and some faced the movie.

Also, here is some good morning Tonga Toast for y 'all.

Hi,

I am looking for pictures or video of the window scene that used to be under the staircase that goes up to Ohanas. Mickey and Minnie were in it and I'm almost positive it was a scene from "Hawaiian Holiday". Are these the figures they moved upstairs into Boutiki?

I'm not really sure what to search for so I hope this inquiry is okay in this thread.

Thanks all!

I know exactly what you're talking about! I'm not sure what it's called, but I think I have a picture of it from when I stayed there in 1996. I'll try to track it down and post it! I have very fond memories (hence my avatar and handle:). I think the Boutiki figures are the ones. I noticed that for the first time when we were there this last January. I loved those and was sad when they got rid of the window scene.

10 days is tomorrow....cant believe it! I need expert help...do i ask for tahiti or tokelau? I have narrowed it to these two based on construction schedules. I have 2 9 year olds and 5 year old so Id like a great room that may be quiet. Thanks in advance!

Now that I see your avatar I know exactly which one this is!!! I love it!! I saw this painting and drawing in the art stores back in September and almost bought it.

I cant remember the song that was playing but I'm sure it was the one from the cartoon. Would be great to see a picture if you can find it. All the best in your search!

I found one picture online but not of the original window. These look like the ones that were under the stairs but I can't tell exactly where they are in this picture (the details on the website say 'Old Store'):

Sorry, the store where the figures in question are upstairs in the store called Trader Jacks. Picture of these guys can be seen here:

Looks like they could be the same!

Where are the cabanas located? Are they near the pool area, or are they on the beach? Can you see the pool from them? TIA!

The two regular cabanas are located a few steps above the regular pool chairs on cement. It is enough to be secluded but you can also see the pool through some bushes and down the stairs. You are not sitting right next to the pool with a clear view but you are very close. The premium cabana is on the beach closer to the zero entry portion with less foliage.

We rented a full day, regular cabana and loved it!

And here is the link to the official Disney site where you can see the cabana in relation to the pool:

I called 407-939-PLAY to book the cabana. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy and if the weather is bad, they will refund your money. I'm not sure what they would consider an entire washout. We are going in August so I can assume we will have at least one downpour in the afternoon as is usually the case.

They look very open and I think there is a ceiling fan inside. I couldn't decide which half of the day so I booked the whole day - but I guess it depends on your other plans. If I had to choose though I would probably pick the first half.

Thank you so much!

Got in yesterday around 3:00. Tokelau room 1916 first floor, almost corner room (not on quiet pool side). I did request pool side over the phone, but only 2 options available when doing line check in. A couple quick thoughts...why the bleep am I up so early? Sitting in the GCH drinking coffee and no one but CM's around.
Room looks great except for some peeling paint above the shower. We did T-Rex last night for dinner and have our 8:40 at BBB this morning.
Family was on edge by end of day yesterday. It always seems like it takes a day or so to decompress and get in the vacation groove. If I keep this sleep schedule I should be able to do a daily check in around 5 am.....I sure hope not. :lol
Aloha!

LOL.....So you had a "Magical Awakening". Even though you are losing sleep, I for one appreciate the early morning post as this is when I often check in on the DIS before work.

Our family also needs to decompress on the first day. We find that the first day we arrive has to be SLOW with nothing scheduled. We are all a little crabby and tired from airports, planes, and the let down once the adrenaline subsides from the anticipation. We all feel better after we have unpacked and had a good night sleep. The first whole day is always so exciting :cheer2: Have a wonderful vacation!

Dear Tinkerbellie16

Thanks for posting the cabana pictures!! Your daughter reminds me of a mini Vanna White!! She sells the cabana idea very well!! We booked it last year and reserved it again this May. Cannot wait to enjoy!!
