Trip Number 9 ~ It's the Most Wonderful Time of Year ~ Christmastime at the GF & Poly

Oh, I really enjoyed breakfast at Kona - too bad the boys meals were on the small side!

I feel bad for your little guy, feeling like he had to hide b/c of his rash. I noticed his cheeks a little red, but don't see any rash in the pictures.
I wish I was at the Poly now. It looks so warm and relaxing (as it is), and here it's cold and tiring and stressful.

Thankfully I will be leaving here in 12 days (yeah, the ticker's off a bit) to go to somewhere warmer. Hoping for sunshine and at least 65 in Hilton Head!

Hi.:) The tonga toast looked delicious as usual!:) Your poor little guy. His cheeks even looked a little red. Its terrible when your kids get something and your away from home.

The Tonga Toast was wonderful!! :goodvibes

The rash was just awful that morning. Again. :sad2:

Poor DS. You did a pretty good job at taking pictures of him without showing the rash.

I tried not to take any pics too close up. His face and neck were bad, but his back and chest were even worse. So luckily we could cover those areas up!

Yeah, I guess it's time for them to become adults at Kona!!

I have a few pics of his rash on my phone that I had sent to the doctor. It looks really nasty!! :scared: I tried to stay back from him when I was taking our vaca pics. I want him to forget all about that awful situation!! :faint:

I sure wish I was at the Poly right now too. It is just plain ugly here. Cold and rainy. :sad2:

Lucky for you, you get to head south very soon! :cool1:

Yep, it's strawberry compote sauce. It is so good I could drink it!!! Tonga Toast is awesome as it is and the strawberry sauce makes it even better. ::yes::

Sounds yummy

Mmmm. I love Kona for breakfast! And I am with you Shelly, I am not a huge breakfast eater either - but always like to come here.

They have the best coffee on property, and the macadamia pancakes with pineapple sauce is always my choice! Bob always gets the Tonga toast, so I get to have a bite or two - but then that's enough for me. :thumbsup2

I have a TERRIBLE story about Kona though, when we were there with our friends after our cruise last May. Seated next to us was a family who didn't speak English very well, and were trying to ask the server for a garbage bag.

There were about 5 - 6 of them at the table, and they ordered 3 meals for them all to split. Halfway through my breakfast, I noticed that the mother had a child laying on her lap under the table. This poor kid looked terrible, and here were the rest of them enjoying their meal and carrying on as if this was totally normal and they didn't have a sick kid laying under the table in a restaurant! :sad2:

When we went to pay our bill, Bob leaned over to me and told me to leave and he would take care of paying. It was so out of character for him and he said it so matter of factly, that I just got up and didn't ask questions. He later told me that the bag was because the kid was THROWING UP into it under the table 2 feet away from where people were trying to eat their meals. :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

I can't remember if we told the hostess, but I imagine I HAD to have... I was just so shocked that someone wouldn't just keep that poor kid in the room. :sad1:

Tonga Toast is truly the greatest breakfast item in Disney World. It's even better if you put both the strawberry sauce and syrup on it.

YUM! Your breakfast looked so good! Makes my bowl of Captain Crunch look like dog food! :lmao: We ate at Kona on this last trip and we got the same thing as you. We loved it. We thought the juice was wonderful too! I've found one here at home similar to it. It's peach, mango, guava juice and it tastes a lot like theirs. I love it!!

Sorry you were on display while you ate. I hate that too. :upsidedow

I always get so happy when I visit your TR! Wow, the Osborne lights look incredible. And the Kona breakfast looks so good! That really doesn't look like much food for the kids. Then again, my DH insists on getting the dining plan (seriously, he thinks he thinks it's the greatest thing ever :rotfl: ) and our DS10 now has to order off the adult's menu. He's so excited and I can't wait until he realizes how much food it really is.

DH loves those macadamia nut pancakes too! I never try anything but the Tonga Toast! :lovestruc

Wow that is a really terrible story. :sad2: Guess some people aren't going to let anything get in the way of their vacation fun.

Absolutely! ::yes:: But I don't like syrup on mine. I like syrup on regular french toast, but not my tonga toast. :upsidedow

Dog food :rotfl2:

I don't like that juice. :confused3 Not sure what it is but I just don't care for it. Most people love it!

On display!! :lmao: Yep, that's a good way to describe it.

Will your DS10 like the adult choices at the TS restaurants? My kids don't yet. They could get adult meals at most CS places because they offer things like chicken nuggets and burgers, etc. But a lot of the TS restaurants adult choices just don't interest my kids. Hopefully soon!

ok, I am back..not sure how I lost you! LOL! Will go back through tonight and catch up! LOL!!

hey girlie! Long time no see!:wave2: You have a lot of catching up to do!!

Shelly--- we need us an update tomorrow. m'kay?? I'mma be here all day just, you know, pacing around and looking into at a closet or two I need to clean out and baseboards to scrub.
Please give me an excuse not to start and head full throttle into the weekend being a lazy behind.

'kseeyathanksbye.

You can count on me!!! How about a little MK??? :thumbsup2

I'm not sure how he'll be. He's the most adventurous of the bunch, so I'm not really too worried. I think most of the restaurants we've picked out have steak or some simple seafood, so hopefully he's okay. DS7, though, I dread when that kid has to order off the adult menu. He's so stinking picky! If it's not chicken nuggets or spaghetti, he acts like we're trying to starve him.

 Yeah, that is what I am dealing with!! Only it's both of mine. :faint:

Thanks Jo and Shelly!! I think I must have gotten a notification and deleted it by mistake and then didn't get anymore:confused3 That's happened before..ok, off to read my dears!!! And Jo,...you clean your baseboards a lot don't you? I thought I did too, but apparently it's not just me!!

Ok...I have a few comments, but I hope I don't forget anything! Ok, I took a taxi to and from the downtown Disney to the WL last year~it was sooo worth it~$24 or so and it was totally worth every penny. One night Mike even got us a taxi to leave Epcot and go back to the room..it was great!
Hated to see/hear that your little guy having that Pn reaction!! I too am deathly allergic to that stuff....I hate that he had to deal with that on vacation...last trip I had came down with something and it really affected my last few days...I didn't realize how miserable i was until we got home and I got some meds...
Okay,,the picture of you with the new-friend-scooter-dude....REALLY??? I can't understand why people do that!! Or when a waitress has an entire restaurant and puts you smack on top of another table...we always ask to move...I don't think many people have a spacial issue like I do...
Congrats on the airfare,...that's a relief to have taken care of and what an awesome deal!!!
Tokelau is a fantastic building!!! We have been there twice,..We had been to the Aotearoa the first time...I remember that the Mono went wooshing right past our window and the boys were little then and we looooved watching/hearing it go past!. But those Tokelau rooms are huge which is great for a family of 5.
The Gulf of Mexico: STAY on the East side of the Mississippi!!! Once you cross over it forget it!!! I am on the West side and it's so bad I can't even describe it..you have to see it to appreciate how ugly it is!
I am caught up and looking forward to your & Jodi's up coming vaca's!! They will get me through the worst part of the year here...Mid-July to the end of Sept is unbearably hot, humid, and flat-out miserable. I think maybe I should tell Mike we should drive through Canada or the nether regions of Alaska to escape it this year...a girl can dream right?!!!

After breakfast at Kona we did a little shopping and walking around the Poly.

The kids found a pin board. Now this CM was downright rude. Could barely even crack a smile or talk to the kids. :confused3

DisneyDecember2012485_zpsfb8f1ec8.jpg

It must have been our morning for grumpy CM's. :upsidedow But other than those 2 CM's (pin trader lady and our waitress at Kona) and the one at TSM the day before, every CM we came into contact with all week was super friendly and helpful!

Pretty soon we realized that we better get going to MK! We had FP+'s for this day as well. And the first one was for the new Little Mermaid ride between 12-1.

So we hopped on the monorail and were there in no time!

This huge tree and presents was new. Last time we were there during the holidays it was toy soldiers right here.

DisneyDecember2012499_zps42d81bf0.jpg

At first glance it didn't appear to be too awful busy. But then we got onto Main Street. People were everywhere!!

Continued in next post.....

We quickly made our way to the new Fantasyland. It wasn't too crowded in this section, but as soon as you went back by the new LM ride it was so crowded you could hardly move.

DisneyDecember2012503_zpsc1d961e2.jpg

It was so crowded back there that I could barely take any pictures of the area. I was very surprised by how far back you have to walk to get to the LM ride. It's a good trek back there. And then it dead ends after the ride. You can see the other part of Fantasyland (the circus themed area), you just can't get to it from there. You have to walk all the way back out of there and around the construction walls to get to it. I've heard conflicting stories about whether or not these two areas will be connected when all is said and done or not...

DisneyDecember2012504_zpsdc23cc10.jpg

So anyway, we got to the LM ride and there were people everywhere. It was hard to tell where the stand-by line was and where the FP line was. But we finally figured it out eventually. It was the FP line that was backed up, that's why we were confused. Some people were trying to use their FP+ and it wasn't working. This would prove to be a problem for us later as well.

But, we finally made our way in and it was awesome! We really liked it.

Up Next: More MK!

We loved the LM ride too! We got a special treat and were allowed to ride it back in October. We were the only ones on the ride! It was so nice. I don't think we will ever be able to say that again though! I loved the music and all the colors in that ride... it was awesome! And the queue is soooo neat! We rode it several times just so we could walk back through there and see everything. I'm glad your boys didn't grumble about riding and let you enjoy it! ;) Did you guys notice the little crab that follows you as you move through the line. We thought he was so cute! :upsidedow
