The deadline for joining the group will be January 5, 2014 to give people plenty of time to get the gifts done. At this point we will stick to one group although I reserve the right to split the group if it becomes too large.

Please PM me or post on this thread the following information if you are interested in joining the FE:
1. first names of everyone in the room
2. the ages and genders of the kids
3. Stateroom
4. Special Occasions

I just transferred our on board dummy booking to this cruise. I'll be cruising with DH (Jeff), DS (Hunter), and DD (Hannah). DS will be 7 and DD will be 5 at the time of the cruise. We had such a blast on our 3 night Disney Dream cruise a few weeks ago that we couldn't wait to go again! We really enjoyed our FE group last go around and look forward to having 11 months to get ready for this one. :cheer2:

:thumbsup2 Me (Jenny) and my DS12 (Joshua) will be on this cruise. I'm happy you started this thread. This will be our first cruise and its in celebratin of his bar mitzvah this coming October. The cruise is his gift.

So far we've got early dinner seating, stateroom 7622 with a Navigators Verandah, and leaning towards Nachi Cocom for our day in Cozumel.

Having never cruised I didn't want to start a FE thread but would love to be included if someone starts it. I don't know much about them other than we need a cute little door hangy thing and daily gifts.

Thank you for starting this thread. :goodvibes

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :beach:

Have a great cruise!

Glad to have someone join the group :thumbsup2 And What a great bar mitzvah gift!

We also have early dining and are in room 6550 Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. We have not decided about excursions although we are limited due to the ages of our kids. I couldn't imagine leaving them at the kids club while we leave the boat. I am leaning towards going to one of the "historical sites".

This will be our second Disney Cruise so we are certainly not experts!

This will be my first cruise ever! I'll be going with my BF, my sister, BIL, nephew(will be 9) and niece(will be 4). Can't wait!!:thumbsup2 It will be the first cruise for all of us actually.

I have no idea what shore excursions we plan on doing, all the ones that seem interesting to me are a pretty far drive and then you have to take a shuttle boat or something. I get car sick real easy so these will probably be a no-go. :guilty:

BUT- We are gonna do either dinner, or brunch at Palo. :)

Mexico beaches are awesome for kids if they enjoy the beach. :rotfl2: I think the ruins are supposed to be really neat. I chose Nachi Cocom because its mellow and they limit it to 100 people per day which I really like.

 Hi. Palo looks amazing! I agree some of the excursions look too far. I'm really looking forward to relaxing and enjoy the beach while off the ship. I read that Bonine is good for motion sickness.

RedskinFan, can you explain to me how the FE thing works? :goodvibes I've read some but nothing really specific. It sounds like so much fun to give and receive little surprises throughout the cruise.

I am just cutting and pasting from my last cruise thread since they disabled the search feature.

Here is a a primer on FE.

Fish Extenders
Every stateroom has a fish hanging on the wall outside the door. This is part decoration and part message center. The fish is there for Disney to place important communications to you such as excursion tickets and notes from the Cruise staff. It is like a mailbox for your room.

On the DISboards discussion forums, it is very popular to participate in a Fish Extender exchange. This entails having a fish extender hanging off the fish outside your room. If you aren't sure how the exchange works or the size and shape of a fish extender be sure to visit the links below. A fish extender can be made of cloth, plastic or vinyl. It can be very creative or very simple. If you don't care to create your own Fish Extender, you will find many auctions on EBay or Etsy where one can be customized for you.

All the people in the exchange buy little items and place them in each other's fish extenders. It is great fun to come back and check the items you have received.

There are several good links in this article. I found it under wdwinfo.com/disney-cruise-line/meets You can find additional information by just doing a search for fish extenders on DISboards.

:thanks: I'd so buy one as I'm not crafty.

Are the gifts based on the ages of the participants or is it just a general type gift?

I did notice the lack of search function. I'll miss it, I used it often.

I bought the pocket holder from Ikea and added Disney patches with fabric glue. The kids wrote our names with fabric markers on the pouches. I'll try to post a picture of our FE in the next couple of days. I've been doing off shift training so haven't had much time on the home PC.

It's up to you to decide how you want to do it. You can do one gift per stateroom, one gift per person, one gift for the adults and one gift per child.

I think they are just making upgrades to the search function. I hope it comes back online soon!

My kids loved the gift exchange and were constantly checking for packages. They also enjoyed delivering gifts too!

That's great! I didn't realize Ikea would have them. I'd love to buy some magnets too, I'm thinking Etsy might be my best for those. My friend works with vinyl so she may also be an option.

Is the FE something we set up as the cruise date gets closer? I'd like to do specific gifts per person. I think DS would get a kick out of this. Do the exchanges happen daily?

Thank you for answering my questions. The entire Disney cruise process/planning is new to me. :)

I'm glad the search function won't be permanently gone.

I'll try to post a picture of our extender tonight. I've been doing some off shift training so haven't been on the PC.

I hope someone with more DCL cruising FE experience will join our group and volunteer to organize our FE exchange. :) I could muddle my way through it if no one else volunteers ;)

Hi, thanks for starting this thread. As of now my mother and I will be cruising. It might turn into a solo cruise but I'll plan for her until things change. My moms name is Jeanette and mine is Pam. This will be our 4th cruise, all DCL. We regularly share Disney adventures and have quickly fallen in love with cruising. It has all the magic of a park trip but far less exhausting.

Thanks for joining the group! Which DCL ships have you traveled on?

We did a 5 night on the Dream last year, a 4 night on the Wonder last month, and will be on the Fantasy in less than two weeks :cool1: I was worried I'd be disappointed since the Wonder is older and smaller but it was gorgeous. Can't wait to sail in her again.

I see you're in Pasadena, I'm in Severn, not too far away.

That is really close especially since we are across the street from Glen Burnie! We might have to meet up sometime before the cruise!

These Disney cruises are definitely addicting! We were on the Dream earlier this month and my DS6 tells us he wants to go on all the ships but wants to go on the Fantasy next since it's the biggest :) The Fantasy doesn't fit in our schedules or budget at this point so the Wonder it is. I was relieved that the kids loved the cruise, I was worried it would be a let down after spending time at Disney World.

Yes, thanks! I read Bonine is good too, I plan on stocking up!

I'm looking forward to an unexhausting disney vacation. From what it sounds like there is a ton to do so I don't know how well that will work out! lol

Glad you came over Pam. :thumbsup2

RedskinFan, I'd be happy to help organize with whoever takes the reigns on an FE. It sounds like too much fun to pass up.

The Wonder does not disappoint, your DS should be happy!

::yes:: Better safe than sorry. I plan on bringing all OTC meds like fever reducers etc just in case. We aren't a sickly bunch, knock on wood, but that'd be terrible. I just read the *quarantined* thread. That wouldn't be fun. :sad1:

Hi Everyone!

We haven't officially booked, yet, but this is the cruise I want (DH wants the Fantasy...) and since he owes me a birthday and anniversary present...

Also, it's nice to see so many Marylanders!
