A Frump's TR: "Me Gusta Epic Mealtime! Stop Thinking My Thoughts: I'm Five." DR LINK!

Wow! Lots of great updates there!

My wife and I are tying to decide between Boardwalk and Beach Club for our next trip. From your clear Beach Club love but Boardwalk stay here, what's your opinion? Boardwalk bakery looks epic though. Great food pics.

I love the strolling in the world showcase pics. I think that is the most tranquil and exciting strolls you can to anywhere. It's even fun just to see pics from the walkway...walk path...you know what I mean.

Keep the posts going!

Fun fun fun!!! You made me want to try the Hoop-De-Doo!! Apparently I loved it when I was three years old but I don't remember it at all!!!

I want more updates!!! :thumbsup2

Subscribed... I've been lurking on the frump TRs for awhile - you girls crack me up, and I've learned so much from your expertise!! :goodvibes

I think we may need to try the Hoop-De-Doo review on our upcoming trip - it looks pretty much amazing...

Anyway, this July TR is giving me hope that maybe a July trip isn't TOTALLY insane (the heat and crowds have me scared!) - looks like you girls still had fun in the July heat! :)

I love this pic!! You just look so adorable. That Donald Duck shirt is too cute.
And I may need to eat there so I can see Mickey dressed like that. :cutie:

Hey Kristen! I love reading your trip reports! This is my first day actually a member of the Disboards, and it took me long enough! I swear I have to be a member of the frump family, it's uncanny!

Hi Kristin! Just stopping by to say I'm in (again)! Your pics from Epcot are all gorgeous, and how exciting that you got a new camera for Christmas! :goodvibes

On another note, I'm suddenly feeling really nostalgic for That's So Raven (Disney Channel used to be so good!) and Hoop-De-Doo. Plus, although I've never been a huge fan of school bread (my favorite snack at Kringla has always been (will always be) the rice cream), I always want to try school bread again whenever I see it in your reviews. :thumbsup2

Hello there! Thanks for joining in! Thanks so much, I am SO excited to use it in WDW!

AH you and me both. What a fantastic show. Both of them! Haha that's okay, I'll forgive you. The rice cream IS delicious!

WDW!!!!!

Pin trading is the best thing ever. HOW I LOVE THEEEEEE.

I have never stayed at the boardwalk. WHY?! I mean, IT’S AN EPCOT RESORT, and it’s beautiful. I wonder about myself sometimes.

That tea cup lamp is amazing. I want one.

CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS. I could seriously eat one of those every single day of my life. SO GOOD.

I love how you took a picture of that guy with those shorts. :lmao: They are very short!

Duffy is like the most adorable thing ever.

Agreed. It's wonderful.

Ahh you need to stay there!!! The place is perfection.

I know! I wish they sold them.

ME TOO. YUM.

They were pretty darn frumpy.

I love him. He's so cuddly and precious.

That picture of your school bread is awesome. NOMS.

And now I’m hungry…

I totally remember the Hook up my Space episode! Perfection. Pure perfection.

When I saw the words “Pioneer Hall” I basically jumped up and down with glee.

The Chip and Dale shirt. OMG. I NEED.

THAT FOOD. HOLY CRAP DELICIOUSNESS.

Just noticed Allie’s Mr. Pricklepants pin. I NEED THAT OMG.

Haha sorry. I LOVE SCHOOL BREAD.

YES! It's perfect.

Pioneer Hall is perfect. I would probably just live there if I could.

I know! It's so fabulous.

I LOVE HOOP-DE-DOO.

Hehe I love him.

OMG the Hoop-De-Doo looks soooo good!! I want to try it soooo badly!!!!

Maybe someday!!! :goodvibes

It is! You definitely should. I highly recommend it.

You and me both! I love it!

The hotel room looks fab.

I think Allie was right as well 14th July is Bastille Day as far as I know. It was some sort of big war day in French History I dunno much else about it either though:confused3

The wall of pillow pets  THEY HAVE BULLSEYE PILLOW PETS NOW?? How am I meant to choose one when they keep adding more choices :goodvibes

It was!

It is! I couldn't believe she knew that.

YES THEY DO! I know, it's so difficult.

Thanks!

That's a tough choice, because they're both so wonderful. I guess if you're looking to relax and hang by the pool more, I would pick Beach Club. If you want a more lively scene and lots of different dining options right there, I would pick the Boardwalk. Either way, you won't be disappointed. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I totally agree.

Aww that's so good to hear! I'm so glad that you enjoy them!

Oh yes you should! It's fantastic.

The heat can be a little much at times, as can the crowds, but if you avoid the parks early EMH and take breaks in the afternoon, you should be fine! Touringplans.com has a really great crowd prediction calendar which I've used from time to time and found to be really helpful.

I love your trip reports. Following along

Thank you! :welcome:

Chapter 7- "Your Mother Needs to Quit Her Job and be a Giraffe Photographer."

July 15th, 2012

Hi all! I'm ALIVE! For those of you who follow me on twitter (@disney_frump), you probably know that I was up until 3 AM editing and organizing and uploading all of the pictures from this trip. I've got a slew of updates for y'all today, and hopefully I'll be able to post a bit more regularly!

And now, on with the updates!

------------------------------------------------

This morning we woke up at 7:30, got ready, ate some toast, and drove to Animal Kingdom! We parked in Unicorn 28 and took the tram to the entrance.
We swam through the tour groups (which seemed to be multiplying by the minute) and went to Expedition Everest to grab some Fastpasses!

dsc08193y.jpg

Once we got over there, we saw that it was a standby so we grabbed our FP's and jumped in line.

dsc08196y.jpg

Yes...I believe those photographs are of bears.

We basically walked right on, and Allie and I got the front row! WOOHOO!

dsc08199a.jpg

My hair is whipping poor Sharon in the face. SORRY!

dsc08200a.jpg

Al and I are obsessed with those yeti plushes. She got one for Christmas from the Units. PRESH.

Allie bought a Hidden Mickey dress to match one that I had bought in May, so we could wear them to a very special occasion the following day.

That rhymed.

NOT INTENTIONAL.

Anyways, we moseyed our way on over to Kilimanjaro Safaris, taking a couple pics with that lovely Tree of Life on the way.

img28892.jpg

img28902.jpg

We barely waited for the safari at all and it turned out to be the best one I've EVER been on! Just y'all wait...

img2892nx.jpg

So the title will be explained here. Sharon is an excellent photographer. She whips out her fancy cam and captures moments that I never thought possible. All of the animal pictures you are about to see are hers, including the many giraffe ones. Giraffe spam, more like. This one giraffe actually came within a couple feet of our safari vehicle! All of the animals were just so friendly that morning!

GIRAFFE SPAM:
img2899ey.jpg

img2902n.jpg

img2903x.jpg

This next one is one of my favorites. I just imagine this giraffe singing "If I Were a Human" to the tune of Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" and imagining himself riding in the safari vehicle beyond. It just looks like he's dreaming of what could be or something. It's priceless.

img2911i.jpg

See what I mean?

img2921gd.jpg

Well hello there, friendship.

img2928ad.jpg

img2930yv.jpg

ELLIES!

img2934yd.jpg

The endangered white rhino:
img2940hj.jpg

Lions:
img2944b.jpg

Ah such a good safari! We even saw where they were building the zebra part of the safari. Sadly, Simba One and that whole part of the ride is gone, but I saw the new zebra section in December, and it was totally worth it! There were so many and they were closer than I thought they'd be.

After the Safari, we split up from the units and Allie and I went to Dinoland and walked on Primeval Whirl!

dsc00087bz.jpg

dsc00088yy.jpg

Turning...

dsc00091yv.jpg

Meanwhile, the Units were exploring the Maharajah Jungle Trek and the nature of Africa.

img2963n.jpg

img2968eu.jpg

img2970pw.jpg

It's all in the details...

img2972v.jpg

Coming up, Allie and I visit some prehistoric beasts and a tragedy befalls Sharon's shorts! Stay tuned!

You're baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY!

Even though it wasn't in this trip, I have to say I'm jealous you got to see zebras at Kilimanjaro Safari - we went twice in January, and they weren't out either time. Booooo.

Chapter 8- Handsome Is as Handsome Does...

July 15th, 2012

Since we were in Dinoland, we decided to visit some of our favorite extinct friends!

dsc08252v.jpg

....Um....Okay.

dsc08253d.jpg

Our journey was successful, except for the loading process was held up because some people can't count, and everybody except us was looking the wrong way...
dsc08255ne.jpg

Awkward.

dsc08256f.jpg

I want a dinosaur named after me!

We went to meet the Units to use our Expedition Everest Fastpasses, and while we were on the bridge, we fell into step with a GIANT tour group.

We jumped off the bridge.

That concludes this trip report.

..........................................................

JUST KIDDING! We were just walking along, and then we noticed that they were all holding Fastpasses...for Everest...

RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We literally RAN to EE and saw the Units just casually standing by the Fastpass return line. They didn't have their Fastpasses out (asleep at the switch...an expression which Allie and Sharon familiarized me with) so they hurried and got them out and we got in line.

PHEW.

We were somewhere in the middle and were stuck before the backwards part for a little longer than usual, but it was fun nevertheless.

There you go, Al. Nevertheless.

It's her favorite word.

Afterwards it was time for our lunch ADR! We trekked the fairly short distance from EE to Yak and Yeti!

img4594g.jpg

We were seated upstairs at a table next to the railing. Our waiter (Richie) put our menus and a pencil on the table and took our drink orders.

Now Timmy had gotten a beer from the bar downstairs and had not seen the tiny pencil on the table (which was the same color as the table) and set his glass RIGHT on top of it.

The whole thing spilled ALL over Sharon. Especially her shorts. I didn't know whether to laugh or not. We were all just shocked that it happened. She was really cool about it though. She just got up and went to the bathroom. She's a wizard and all so she came out looking good as new. And the CM's were really good about cleaning it up. They moved us to the table next to that one so we could sit down.

Once all the drama was taken care of, we had a chance to check out the menu.

img4595qa.jpg

We ordered and Richie filled up our drinks. He told me that I didn't drink my water fast enough for him to fill it, so I chugged half of it for him.

The Units ordered egg rolls, fried green beans with sweet chili sauce, wonton soup, and perhaps some lo mein? Here are pics of the first three. (sorry for the blurriness of the egg rolls and green beans):

dsc08262o.jpg

dsc08263e.jpg

dsc08266k.jpg

YUM!

Allie and I decided to share the lettuce cups for an appetizer.

dsc08264mp.jpg

These were SO good! Light, flavorful, and incredibly tasty. We loved them!

Here we are, enjoying our app:
img2974q.jpg

For an entree, we decided to share the shrimp lo mein, aka the best lo mein EVER!

dsc08265h.jpg

This is phenomenal. Just the right balance of shrimp, veggies and noodles. It's perfect. We loved it!

The Units didn't get dessert, but Allie and I shared one of my favorite Disney desserts EVER, which Richie described as "sheer deliciousness," the fried wontons!

dsc08268j.jpg

MMMMM. So great. the wontons are kinda warm and rich but there's such a great balance with the ice cream and fresh fruit. They're fantastic!

We also got fortunes before we left, and Allie's said "Handsome is as handsome does," which we didn't really get, but thought it was funny anyway.

img2975t.jpg

We paid using the Units AP discount, and then Timmy and I went to use the Kali River Rapids Fastpasses that Sharon had gotten for us earlier!

Sharon and Allie don't like to get really wet, so they watched the monkeys while we rode. We had a blast!

1361377653919.jpg

1361377666555.jpg

1361377677107.jpg

After that, we met up with Sharon and Allie and spent the rest of our Animal Kingdom time browsing around Beastly Bazaar and Island Mercantile, and then rounded out the afternoon with Festival of the Lion King! We were in the giraffe section and Al and I were singing along and everything. IT was fabulous.

When we got out of the show it started to rain. I wanted to visit my friend Mike, who works at DAK Guest Relations, but he was on break and we wanted to get going. By the time we got to the car it was really raining!

WARNING. Frumpy photos ahead. Proceed at your own risk.

dsc08285it.jpg

dsc08286o.jpg

We got back to Boardwalk and Allie and I showered and caught up on our trip journals. We went down the the lobby gift shop (Dundy's Sundries) and I bought the cutest Boardwalk shirt! You'll see me wearing it in a future update. Then we went back upstairs and got ready for the evening!

Stay tuned!

Chapter 9- 'Ohana Means FOOD!

July 15th, 2012

We got ready for the evening and then headed out! I was sporting my Magic Kingdom park map bow, and Allie borrowed my Little Town Belle one!

dsc08293n.jpg

dsc08295s.jpg

We drove over to the Polynesian and looked around Bou-Tiki before it was time to check in for our dinner ADR at 'Ohana!

dsc08297s.jpg

I found a pin that matched my phone case! So cute.

dsc08298u.jpg

We headed upstairs eventually, checked in, and looked around Samoa Snacks for a couple minutes before we were seated near the windows, where we had a nice view of the grill and the grounds.

Our cousins names were Robert and Joe, and they were very friendly. We ordered drinks, scarfed down our welcome bread before I could even take a picture, and were brought salad.

dsc08310cb.jpg

I could easily fill up on just bread and salad, but I only had a little of each because the best was yet to come!

We were also brought pot stickers and honey-coriander chicken wings, as well as a trio of dipping sauces.

dsc08312v.jpg

The pot stickers are my favorite of the two. They're just so good! I love the chicken wings too though. I have high standards when it comes to wings.

We were brought a plate of hot towels between the appetizer course and the main course, which was much appreciated and much needed. I love when restaurants do this.

dsc08314o.jpg

Pretty soon the best part of the meal arrived:
dsc08315g.jpg

THE NOODLES!!! Oh, and the veggies too. Actually, the veggies were really good! They were crisp and fresh and really well-seasoned. However, the noodles were the star. Oh how I am craving them right now. They're perfect. So wonderfully flavorful and just perfect. Definitely on the "Best things I've ever eaten" list.

Soon, the intimidating skewers of meat started to arrive. Although everything was delicious, I think the chicken and pork were especially good that night.

Some steak and shrimp photos (I must have eaten the chicken and pork too fast to get a pic):

dsc08317b.jpg

dsc08318q.jpg

Once we were all sufficiently stuffed, it was dessert time!!! This was Allie's first time at 'Ohana, so she had no idea what she was in for.

dsc08321x.jpg

YUM. What a fabulous dessert. It's perfect. Seriously.

dsc08323k.jpg

dsc083292.jpg

We gobbled that thing right up between the four of us, except for a little bit, which Allie was more than happy to assist us with.

dsc08325w.jpg

dsc08327k.jpg

Happy happy happy.

1361377686359.jpg

Once we paid and rolled out of there, it was time to head to the Magic Kingdom! Monorail here we come!

dsc000992.jpg

We look so tropical.

dsc001012.jpg

I was so full that planking occurred for most of the journey...
dsc083352.jpg

dsc083342.jpg

Up next, Magic Kingdom EMH fun and I meet a very fabulous DISer! Stay tuned!

Chapter 10- In Which There Are DIS Meets, Dole Whips, and the BEST PHOTO BOMB. EVER.

July 15th, 2012

In no time at all, we had arrived at the Magic Kingdom!

1361377694101.jpg

HOORAY.

We saw this girl in the middle of a photo shoot, and it looked like it was for a Quincenera or something.

dsc08336kz.jpg

Yes, we did The Creep.

We made our way down Main Street and enjoyed the scenery.

1361377702207.jpg

dsc08342e.jpg

...If only I hadn't just eaten an elephant's weight in food.

Now for those of you who know Joni/read her trip reports (therussells08) you know that she was in Disney when Allie and I were! For those of you that don't read her trip reports...WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY DOING WITH YOUR LIFE!?!? Go read them. They're fantastic. For those of you who don't know her, I am so sorry! She's a wonderful person. And her southern accent is fabulous.

Now how do I know this??

Well, Allie and I were walking along, talking the Crystal Palace bridge route to Adventureland when I heard someone say my name behind me. At first, I ignored it, because it's not like I'm the only person named Kristen in the world.

But then I heard it again.

I turned around and there was Joni and her mom! I was so excited!! We did the introductions bit with Allie and her mom and just began chatting about Disney, our tour group hate, and pins. Joni even GAVE Allie her cherry Hidden Mickey pin because she thought it was so cute.

What. An. Angel.

We all decided to go get BTMRR Fastpasses, so we headed in the direction of Frontierland, chatting all the way.

We got our Fastpasses, and then we had to go meet up with the Units again, because they wanted to ride the Jungle Cruise with us. We said goodbye for the time being and took a picture to remember the DISmeet!

dsc083472.jpg

Hooray! It was ABOUT TIME I finally met Joni, and she is just as wonderful as I thought she would be! Her mom is super precious too. And GREAT NEWS: She and I will both be there at the same time in a few months! I can't wait!

We headed off to Adventureland, and walked on Pirates.

dsc083512.jpg

This shirt is awesome.

We headed off to meet up with the Units and decided to get Dole Whips!

Yeah, we had just eaten approximately 10942809138747 pounds of food at 'Ohana like an hour beforehand. OH WELL.

Al got a pineapple-vanilla float, which is also Jess' Dole Whip of choice.

dsc08352x.jpg

I went with my personal favorite, the pineapple Dole Whip, sans float.

dsc083542.jpg

LOOK AT THE PERFECTION:
dsc083562.jpg

Poster posing!
dsc083552.jpg

YUM. How I wish I had one now...even though it's like 20 degrees here.

We enjoyed our Dole Whips on the way to the Jungle Cruise and while we were in line. Our cruise was hilarious and that attraction continues to be one of my all-time favorites.

Next, Al and I went to use our BTMRR Fastpasses from earlier. We got stuck of the top of the first big hill, which gave us a nice view of the park. Then we went to the Briar Patch store, where Allie bought a WDW shirt. The CM working there found out we were DVC members and AP holders and told us we should work there.

That's the plan! :thumbsup2

Next we decided to use our Splash Fastpasses! I'm not entirely sure when we got them, but we had them!

dsc08388y.jpg

EXCITEMENT.

dsc083902.jpg

Poncho time for Allie:
dsc08391w.jpg

LAME.

Of course we sat in the front, because this is me we're talking about.

I LOVES THE FRONT.

dsc083942.jpg

See that part of a face behind us? Yeah, that's this dad who decided to teach his young son the life skill that is photobombing. His wife joined in for the lesson after the big hill, and that photo became one of our favorites from the whole trip. Just look at this frumpy epicness:
dsc084042.jpg

Allie and I are drenched, there's a smoulder and the wife's face kills me. It's just perfect. I want to frame it.

That kid has awesome parents.

REDNECK RIDE PHOTO ALERT:
dsc084062.jpg

Next, we decided to visit our happy haunt friends at my favorite attraction, THE HAUNTED MANSION. MSEP was going on (which I'm sure Joni was LOVING) so we skipped all the way to Liberty Square, which was rather amusing, as we were basically skipping through throngs of stationary people.

We finally arrived and I was very excited for this photo opportunity:
dsc08414t.jpg

I had to use flash and the quality isn't very good, but I'm just tryin' to express my fandom.

Next, we walked to Tomorrowland via Fantasyland to avoid the fireworks mob, and we walked right on Buzz!

dsc084242.jpg

Allie did really well, but I majorly suck at that game. Ah well.

Next, we went on the PeopleMover for a leisurely jaunt around Tomorrowland.

dsc08433q.jpg

I decided to wear my 'Ohana lei around my ankle, for swag purposes, obviously.

dsc084262.jpg

Wishes began while we were on the PeopleMover, so in addition to seeing some of the fireworks (which was really cool from up there and a new view for us), we also so the wall to wall MOB in front of the Castle, around the Hub, and all the way down Main Street. It was insane. We were a little scared, to be perfectly honest.

On our way to the Laugh Floor after the PeopleMover, we saw Joni once again! We said hello and talked for a minute, and then continued on to Monstropolis. After the hilarity of the Laugh Floor, we headed to main Street for a snack before we left the park. We decided on our favorite, chocolate croissants from the Main Street Bakery!

dsc08441tu.jpg

They're just SO good! Not too filling, but the perfect way to end our night.

dsc08443rd.jpg

We looked around the shops on the MSB side of Main Street, and were very tempted to purchase this bad boy from the Confectionery...
dsc08446o.jpg

We restrained ourselves and headed out of the park. There was a Boardwalk bus there but it was standing room only. This was fine for me, as I was taught to stand on a Disney bus before I could even spell "bus," but for Allie, whose family usually drives to the parks, it was a different story. The poor thing was struggling a bit, but she was a trooper and made it out alive. Once we got back to the villa, the Units were already asleep. We cleaned up, and I curled my hair (ala Vickie from the January trip) for our special occasion in the morning. Then I went out on the balcony to catch up on my trip journal so Allie could go to sleep. I talked to Nat on the phone for a while and went to bed a little after 1 A.M.

I don't know which part of that last update I love more: Joni or the noodles! Okay, it's probably the noodles, but that's just because they are amazing and I'm really hungry right now.

Sorry I've been so bad about commenting lately. I've been following along though.

I love the giraffe pictures! My cousin is OBSESSED with giraffes and she would be having a field day with allie's mom's pictures!

Luckily you managed to beat the tour groups to everest! I've done single rider before for that ride and have ended up sitting next to a tour group kid on multiple rides of that ride. It is definitely NOT pleasent! I never really understood the tour group hate on the DIS untill my past couple of trips. I feel like there is ALWAYS some kind of tour group in Disney no matter when you go.

The frump pictures in the car on the way back to your resort are FANTASTIC!!!! I have to say ever since I read Jess' and your TR's i've been paying alot more attention to things like the monorail voice, Disney Food and of course the Deer face and just frumpy things in general. It definitely adds to the Disney experience.

Yeah I have to agree with you about those noodles at O'hana! They are FABULOUS!!!!!!!! I know for a fact I had seconds and I feel like I might have even had thirds of them. Forget about everything else as long as you give me those noodles and the bread pudding I will be a happy camper at O'hanas. Last time I was there they gave us some ice cream with sprinkles with our bread pudding in case we needed more ice cream which of course made the whole thing better!

I love that you were planking on the monorail, just saying :). I've wanted to do goofy monorail poses forever but every time i'm on the monorail there are other people on the monorail with me.

That splash mountain photo bomb is perfect! The husband is definitely doing the Smoulder! i've had my share of photobomb pictures (heck I have even been the photobomber myself from time to time) but non of them have been as perfect as that picture.

Yeah I think I have looked at those rice krispie treats so many times but I have never actually gotten one. I think if I remember correctly they are almost 50 bucks.

YUM to 'Ohana! Did you see the changes they made to the menu? What do you think of them? I wish they would keep the 3 sauces.

How fun to have a DISmeet with Joni!

Love your report! And I have to say.....
Your eyelashes are PERFECT! <3
What on earth do you use??!

GREAT updates!:)I know that's obvious to everyone, but I felt I needed to say it nevertheless.:)

Love the picture "Comtemplative Giraffe".Glad you were able to see the Zebras in December-I didn't see them when I went in December, but I am happy for you nevertheless.:)

Glad to see that Allie is a Poncho Person.I know that those of us in the Poncho community are sometimes frowned upon, but we will continue to excercise our Poncho rights nevertheless.:)

I look forward to more updates and especially your December TR(can't wait to see what you thought of Holidays @ the World).I wish I lived at WDW,but your TRs really help give everyone a "WDW Fix" nevertheless.:)
