The Guarantee / GTY stateroom anticipation/discussion thread!

We are OGT for Feb 3 sailing on the Dream... still no assignment :scared1::scared1:What does this mean??

There is also a big difference between VGT/OGT/IGT and GTY. I believe most posts here are for GTY assignments. There is another thread for the *GT assignments, which tend to be assigned at 13 days or less before sailing.

Booked a last minute cruise on the "Dream" (5E GTY) about a week ago and just received my room assignment. Yay!!! 7688 LOVE IT!!!! :)

Add us to the waiting and hopeful :hourglass ... booked Fantasy, GTY 8D, for the 3/23/13 sailing.

We are not so patiently waiting for a GTY room assignment for one of the couples in our party. They booked an 11B, with a room assignment almost a year ago. The day of final payment and the paid in full receipt came via email it was discovered that our TA booked two of us on the 3/23/13 sailing of the Fantasy and one of us on the Magic sailing for the same day. :furious: After several days of back and forth of the TA blaming Disney... it was resolved, the TA paid the extra $600 but the couple lost their room assignment and had to go GTY. Hoping and praying for some major pixie dust that they get upgraded... At this point they don't even know about the whole fiasco!!! So far I've been able to handle it and not get them stressed out!!:crazy2:

Just booked 2 rooms category 7A GTY. The cruise isn't until September so we have a while to go, I just love this thread and wanted to subscribe and say hi. Good luck to everyone!

February 3, 2013 Dream
Booked November 27, 2012
VGT
Assignment 10 Days out: Cat. 4C

Very happy with this assignment!:cool1:

Hi all!

Can you answer my questions as I've read through the thread and I'm unsure about a few things. We booked the 12 night Med cruise (with Venice) just under a year ago. I think it might even have been the weekend the rates were released.

We went for a 11C GTY room because it was within our price range and having stayed in one before we are more than happy with that category. At this moment in time on 10B, 9 (A,B,C&D) and 4 (A&E) are available.

The question is:

Are GTY rooms more likely to get an upgrade when the ship is nearly full or pretty empty?

Looking at what is currently available onboard and the fact we don't yet have a room number, what do you think the chances of an upgrade to a 10 or 9 is?

Thanks

Upgrades are random and follow no rhyme or reason. DCL gives pixie dust to people with room assignments and without.

Booked a 7a on the Fantasy on the Aug 24th sailing...I will be sitting on pins and needles for the next 6 months.

I have a question that hopefully someone here can answer for me.
When Disney offers a GTY special its usually after the PIF date I think.
But when the offer comes out if it does, can I book that only on DCL or will Costco have the offer as well?

Thank you!
Lori

GTY is not the same as the after-PIF lower rates that are VGT/OGT/IGT. This thread is for GTY bookings, which are not restricted and only mean that a room in that category cannot be assigned yet. They are not discounted.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.:)

Waiting as well! Booked on Valentine Day and will be going nuts untill the day we get it!

52 days out
Booked 9C GTY
Got 2036

Can't complain cause I got what I paid for, but upgrade would have been nice.;)

Last week, we booked a 5e GTY on the Dream for 5/2...getting anxious for our room. While an upgrade would be nice, I just want a room number, (almost!) any room number, so I can stop thinking about it. :P

I booked an 11c rate for November 2013 on the Magic because on the website it was showing a special rate but when I went to look at my stateroom it states it is a gty. I usually sail in a deluxe oceanview but since this is an extra cruise that we are doing just for the price/our anniversary I dont care what room I get. But, I guess I will have a LONG wait to see what my room will be!

H, I booked category 10 GTY deluxe inside stateroom. I received my cruise documents last week and received category 5C Deluxe outside stateroom with verandah!!! :cool1::cool1:

I set sail on March 30th on the Fantasy! :)

I was nervous about booking a GTY stateroom, but after this awesome upgrade, I would do it again in a heartbeat!!:thumbsup2
