AP Folks, could I bend an ear for a moment? :wave2: (I need further ammunition when I present the case to the hubbo. He actually seemed fairly open to the idea yesterday. Keep in mind, I know next-to-nothing about APs so forgive me with this plethora of weird questions!)

Don't know how accurate it is, but I was checking out the historical discounts for general public vs. AP holders. They're all released at approximately the same time -- except for AP holders getting the discount a tad earlier? Also, with AP holders getting a 5% additional discount on rooms -- or thereabouts. Does this sound fairly spot-on? What are the black-out dates like? Are there tons of blackouts for AP resort discounts?

:teacher:
Could one of you AP gurus do me a mega-HUGE favor, if you don't mind? I was wondering if you could copy and paste the current AP room discount (for however far out it extends -- is it up to June already?) for POR and BC? (If I can show hubbo the AP discount vs. general public in actual real numbers that'll help my case immensely. :thumbsup2 ) Thank you a TON!

We sat down yesterday afternoon and discussed the pros and cons. This was brought about by talking about Jen getting APs( :rolleyes1 :thumbsup2 ) and by us renewing our zoo membership. Got to thinking about how spending a few hours in the park and leaving whenever we wanted would be a real option for us with APs -- and it wouldn't feel like we "wasted money" like exactly how we feel when we go to the zoo for a couple hours and then leave. It would completely change our Disney touring style, obviously -- as we currently do a leisurely "one park a day" thing with lots of resort time. Also, staying at the Epcot resorts (usually) would give us the opportunity of going into the World Showcase to grab food whenever we wanted. During our January trip, on both our Epcot day and our HS day, we left and came back later. APs would allow us to do this... but add the ability to switch it up and go to a different park. Anyway, if I can show my nerd-man the cold, hard facts... he might go for it. (He even liked the idea of driving down next summer! :scared: ) Sorry for the novel, just talking out loud here! :rotfl:

I am not an AP guru at all, but wanted to share my recent experience with the AP vs. Spring Discount. We are purchasing APs and so I called to see what the discount would be at the BC for the dates we already have booked under the Spring Discount. Well at first she came back with a number I thought sounded too low, but it was awesome so I called back to book and it came back higher, but it was actually still more than the additional 5% I was expecting. I'm not sure if maybe this was because it was a club level room or not, but we were looking at them online with the spring discount (we had only booked a standard room) and what they came to after the AP discount is another 9% lower. Whatever, it worked for me.

We are also paying with gift cards purchased at Target with our redcard so we are saving an additional 5% there. In convincing DH I brought up the Tables in Wonderland discount as well as shopping discounts and a discount on one of the tours we want to do and he was all for it. We hadn't planned on going more than once this year but with the savings and our twins still being free we are now planning a second trip for next April using our APs.

Now the real convincing is going to be getting him to agree to a long weekend trip around the holidays since we already have the passes and I have some free offsite hotel nights. :goodvibes

Phew...Dr. said it is NOT shingles. Thank goodness. Thanks for letting me worry here myself !

Jenny very happy to read it was not shingles :)

Good Morning all!!

A day off, and Jesse wakes me up at 6:30am....really?! Of course he did it with a hug and a sweet smile. Then I realize it's 28 degrees outside....kinda cold for us Southerners. Wishing I were here, basking in the sun....

At least the other two kiddos are still sleeping :teeth: Gives me some Dis time with no interruptions.

Jesse has informed us that he wants to go to SeaWorld for his birthday in April. The kids have never been....it's been YEARS since Bill and I have visited, so I'm starting from ground zero. Any suggestions would be appreciated;) Guess it will be a long weekend trip. Who knows?!

Back to reading and more coffee!:surfweb:
Heather

Heather love the pic, beautiful as usual! I been looking over your TR of the Poly stay enjoying the pictures. Been years since we went to SeaWorld it sounds like a nice Birthday trip for Jesse :thumbsup2

Yup!!! I am going to Costco today to buy a bunch of meat and fruit to use with it. I want to grind my own meat for burgers and such, as I am repulsed by store bough ground meat. I actually do not eat it. I don't know why, I just hate it. What food processor did you get? I wanted the Kitchenaid one, but I am pretty sure I can do pretty much anything in the Vitamix. Except slice veggies. I will try to resist the temptation though. :rotfl:
wookie Glad I could help!!!

Dani Have fun with your Vitamix! I remember my Mom going to the neighborhood butcher and picking out a large round steak then having him grind it up for her.

Did anyone watch Kelly and Michael today "live" from Magic Kingdom? It gave me a much needed Disney Fix! The shows will be there through Thursday this week.

 to everyone here

I don't know if you have anyone in your area that does this type of thing, but a friend of mine has an artist friend that does (I hate to call it spray-can, but I can't think of the right term) art on anything from laptops, to guns, to kitchen equipment. You might even be able to find some cool decals at like Hobby Lobby to put on it.

Good morning / afternoon, ladies.

Heather: Yet another gorgeous photo. You spoil us! :worship: Brrr... that is chilly for you guys. We got someone else's weather today too. It's 50 out now! Ca-RAY-zee.

Jen: My friend... you know what happened when I read that you were going for APs (for real this time :lmao: )? Of course, it got the ol' cogs turning. Could you smell that wood burning from all the way up there?

AP Folks, could I bend an ear for a moment? :wave2: (I need further ammunition when I present the case to the hubbo. He actually seemed fairly open to the idea yesterday. Keep in mind, I know next-to-nothing about APs so forgive me with this plethora of weird questions!)

Miss:  I am so sorry!! Not really! I am glad to see there are others as indecisive as us! It just takes us a while to really think things through!:rolleyes2 I hope your DH is receptive!! Keep us posted!:thumbsup2

Time to play catch up once again :)

DH and the kiddos home today so taking a few minutes on the laptop while they are playing some computer game.

Heather - I haven't been to Sea World in years, but I know it used to be the Renaissance that was the hotel on property. I am not sure what else has gone in since we were there. DH got up to go to a dr's appt this morning and threw on shorts and t-shirt and I laughed at him and said obviously you don't realize how cold it is out....it was 46 degree down here in South Florida....BRRRR, but I love this weather :goodvibes Oh glad to hear Faith like the RR's, we had them booked for April, but then DD decided she does not want her bday at WDW. I think they look like a good option with the deluxes are just crazily priced.

Wookie - sounds like you are good to go with your ADR's :thumbsup2 Hope you got though all your school work last night (even after helping the inlaws with their crap

Dani - did you order the Vitamix? I got a new food processor yesterday and am strangley excited, LOL!

Jen - glad your mom doesn't have shingles, did the dr say what it was? YAY on the AP's!

Well I am off to do some dishes and maybe a load of laundry, my life is just so exciting

Melissa

Melissa: I did ask her what it was, and she said she was so happy it wasn't shingles she didn't even ask!! What the?? Yes that is my mother. Your day sounds about as exciting as mine!!:laundy:

Yup!!! I am going to Costco today to buy a bunch of meat and fruit to use with it. I want to grind my own meat for burgers and such, as I am repulsed by store bough ground meat. wookie Glad I could help!!!

Dani: What a great plan to make your own ground meats. I shudder to think what is actually in store bought. You are inspiring me!:goodvibes

Thanks, I did. I got it done really early. I had the 4 1/2 page paper done before 7 PM. The DH wanted me to play SW:tOR with him, but he annoyed me by doing a new boss without me that I haven't done. Then I got sucked into watching Dance Mom's online. Anytime he would text or FaceTime me from the other part of the house to check on how I was doing, I would tell him either I was still working on it, or editing it. Due to my mind not working right from my blood pressure being up a little from forgetting my morning meds, it read like a monkey wrote it. I just had to keep editing and reading through and editing again. Really, I was watching Dance Mom's.

Wookie:: I am so glad you got your paper done. I have said this before but I don't know how the heck you do it all!

Dis703 This is great!! I hope to get DH to agree to a long weekend trip just for us at some point too!!:rolleyes1

 to everyone here

Sheila: Thank you so much, that would not have been good for anyone.

Well, we have a holiday here today, and DH and I went wild cleaning the upstairs and moving the DD's bedroom furniture around. It just feels to good to '"really" clean, most times I just to a quick surface cleaning! Anyway, still in my PJ's too!!:goodvibes

Just have to wait for the refund for the pkg onto my CC, and then will get the AP's!! Wow, looking at those POR rates was a bit shocking! :faint:

I had just written a long post and iPad ate it! :crazy2: sometimes I hate the iPad!
I'll try again, but it won't be as detailed :sad2:
Valentines date night turned out great, we went to Chilis for the 2 for $25 deal -- each had a ceaser salad and a shrimp bowl, great meal and nice price! We had free cupons for nachos at the theatre (gotta love the general mills cereal boxes!) but we where food-drunk after that :p
Loved that our seats where pre-selected, the movie was a sell out , which was inevitable being valentines night. Loved the comfy, larger leg room seating. Identity Thief was funny, and I am glad that's what we ended up seeing. It was a really nice time had by us both :)

I'm having a lazy day at home today -- STAT holiday (Family Day in Alberta) lazy day of daytime tv / court TV and lazing on my new couch ;)
I've been doing a lot of thinking about my Disney plans. I'd LOVE to take my DS Andrew (16) and his BF to DL next FEB -- but pricing is so expensive. I am rethinking that that money I'd need for a trip to DL (about 5,000$) by next FEB could pay for HALF my 2015 trip to WDW with him and his GF for his Grad trip....DH has said he will come with me (if I stop talking to him about it, :rotfl:) -- being that I want to stay at Kidani, in a 1 BDRM suite, and upgrade to DLX dining, I can see that trip being costly. Andrew also wants me to add on the normal 3 days ending to our trip at Universal. Thinking it over, I'd rather use that 5K I'd save for DL to put it towards our WDW trip. I don't think I can afford to do both with things to pay off on our line of credit, and our yearly tax bill/ insurance fees that are recurring expenses we will definitely have to come up with. I don't feel comfortable renting DVC points (plus I love daily housekeeping. :p) so rental is not for me -- I'll be paying and booking direct through CRO. I need all the time I can get to save for that trip! I am sad that it looks like my little jaunt to DL may not be financially feasible. But hopefully I can do one of those Diva trips in the future when it is just Me, and it may be much more affordable paying for 1 person!
It seems like FEB 2015 is so faraway , but I know time will pass very quickly! :flower3:
Ps....forgot to add I LOVE seeing all your beautiful pics :) thanks for sharing!

Wookie:: I am so glad you got your paper done. I have said this before but I don't know how the heck you do it all!

Thanks. I have gotten so used to it, I strive on the chaotic. When I dog sat/ house sat for my sister I didn't have anything to do for 4 or 5 days. The first couple of days, it was cool. Then it drove me nuts. I need to do some pricing today, so I can see how much of our WDW to pay off as soon as our tax return hits our checking account. I informed the DH last night about getting new luggage. I said, "I am not pulling up to the BC to check in, with our ghetto-fabulous luggage." He was like, "ok, well if it'll make you feel better, just cancel the Beach Club and move to the Pop Century. You shouldn't feel bad about the luggage there." Let's just say, I made him see things my way, and I need to keep looking for luggage I like.

....;)

I know what you mean about thriving on the chaotic, I too am a bit like that. :) Or at least thrive on being busy. On our slower weekend days I go a bit crazy if I am not doing something. Actually discovering the Dis has helped me learn to sit and relax a little bit.

Actually, anytime I am on the DIS, I have another tab open watching a TV show.

The DH just got home, and he just brought me wonderful news. The car he drives for work, is one he parent's had bought. He spent $100 on a new battery today, and now the check engine light is one yet again. We had this same issue with the check engine light the last time his parent's to the lake house. He never had an issue with that car (Kia Rondo) until his parent's started driving it to the lake house. It's "more comfortable" for his mom to ride in than her truck (Nissian Frontier, 4 door). The last time, it was because they put crappy gas in it. I don't know if that's what happened this time. I'm just afraid some of my Disney money is going toward it.

Good Morning ladies~ we are still on break as for some reason the district decided to do Monday/ Tuesday instead of Friday/ Monday.

Jen - glad it wasn't shingles for your mom
Wookie- hope nothing serious with the vehicle...I know how expensive that can get.

I'm always on the phone app for the dis and never see any sigs... as a matter of fact I didn't put in the December trip with the band or our upcoming trip June 25-July 5

Have a great day all ~

:faint: SO FAR BEHIND......

I know I should stop being a brat about it...stopping by to say a big Good Morning :grouphug: :flower3:

The DH said after he had the battery changed it was acting strange. First, it was giving error codes. Then, when he put it in cruise, the excelerator wouldn't work any more. The DH wanted the fil to see what the car was doing so they took it for a drive last night. Well, the check engine light went off last night, and the DH said the car didn't give them any problems. They think whatever was wrong reset itself and will hopefully be ok.

About 1 AM, as we were getting ready for bed, I realized there was a flaw in my ADR plan. The day I have planned to go to the MK (a Tuesday) is a day they usually have MNSSHP and we'll have to leave the MK at 7 PM. The only other day, I think I can swap with it is Thursday, but then that will have us going to the MK two days in a row (when you include going to MNSSHP).

Morning ladies, kiddos are off again today (teacher work day) so we are having one more lazy morning. I'll be back in a few to catch up :)

Mornin' Peeps :)

Jen, that's great news that your Mom does not have shingles... my mom has had them twice, and my MIL has a bad bout with them. Maybe it was an allergic reaction?

Heather, beautiful pix as always!!:thumbsup2 Happy that Faith loved the RR, and hope she had a wonderful birthday trip! :flower3:Loved Riverside (stayed in a GV room Mansions in January on the RC trip.)

Marie, sounds like your Valentines day with DH was nice.:goodvibes It's hard to be an adult sometimes..hopefully planning for the big WDW trip 2015 will ease the sting... you can add on to that one to make it extra special. And I do think the Diva trip sounds like a good way to treat yourself!

Dani, too funny about booking the second cabin on another cruise!! But was this your subconcious at play here?? :lmao: Have fun with the Vitamix... sometimes DH will grind his own meat and the burgers taste fabulous! If we had more time he would love to cook more.. he is thinking of taking a cooking class as there is a culinary institutue opening up quite near us.

Wookie, congrats on getting your paper finished.:thumbsup2 happy that your check engine light went out... that happened to us too as we just had the car inspected on Sat.

As my luck would have it.. was driving to the Y on Sat morning and got pulled over... knew exactly as our inspection had expired in December (just realized it on thursday)... the officer was nice about it when I explained my appt was for that day.. got off with a warning, and had to have the mechanic fill out a form to prove I had the car inspected.... but no ticket!! :cool1:

Melissa, :wave2: another day off, good for DISing...:thumbsup2 See you back here soon!

Miss, well anything to update on the AP front? That's great that you DH likes the idea of driving to FL... just can't seem to convince mine of this.

Janet BFF what can I say...Sam  she is beautiful

thanks bff:hug: She feels SO good about herself... you can just see it in her expression, her attitude, etc. She just beams!:goodvibes

Janet - I'm glad Sam had fun at the dance. She sure sounds like an amazing young lady. :goodvibes

You are so sweet! I think Sam is the most "together" person in the family! :goodvibes She just seems to be handling everything well right now...hopefully this will continue. She is focused on eating healthy and excersiving and hope this will always be part of her lifestyle.

Any plans yet for that anniversary getaway?

My kitchen aid stand mixer was my grandmas from the '70s...not the cool colors but it still is going strong.

Wow!! Mine is only 15 years old! :)

I'm always on the phone app for the dis and never see any sigs... as a matter of fact I didn't put in the December trip with the band or our upcoming trip June 25-July 5

Thank you, I tend to wait until the last minute to get things done.

That is awesome he just gave you a warning. Several years back, my DH got hurt at work. I hadn't driven my car in months. I was a SAHM, I walked the boys down the street to their school, and usually took DH's car to the store. The inspection was out and I told the officer I hadn't driven the car in months and was on my way to pick my hubby up from work to take him to the ER. He had no issue in writing me a ticket.

I can't wait to take these on our next WDW trip.

Just stopping in to say hi! :wave2:

AirTran did me the favor of changing my April flights so I parlayed that into adding a day. I wanted to fly in on Sunday anyway, but the flights were double the cost so I went with Monday. I know they get a bad rep for changing, but I love it! It always seems to work in my favor. :cool1:

Now the question is, do I just add another YC CL day, or do something special and make that our anniversary celebration night? :confused3

Jenny - Glad your mom doesn't have shingles. How funny that she didn't even ask what she did have. Mothers! :rotfl: Congrats on the APs too. I think you are going to love popping over to Epcot! :cloud9: It really is sooooo easy even with little ones. :thumbsup2

Miss - Is DH seeing the light yet? :woohoo: Wish you luck my friend! :yay:

Wookie - I hope the car thing is a fluke.

Dani - I cracked up when I saw the cruise booking issue. I'm glad they got it straightened out! :goodvibes

pas - 2014? Sorry! Don't worry Universal will be amazing! :dance3:

babyberger - Enjoy your lazy day! My slobby guys were back these weekend. So I'm all :laundy: today. I thought I had that fixed but I guess not. :headache:

Hi to everybody else I missed. :goodvibes
