Resort board pet peeves?

"Is Disney kid-friendly? Which resorts are kid-friendly?"

"I'm going with my two kids under 5, is this doable? Has anyone every done WDW with two young kids?"

One of mine would be "Has anybody ever stayed at .......?" or even better "Anybody at.....right now?" Every single time I'm tempted to reply "No- the place is deserted. Nobody ever goes there."

But my biggest pet peeves on this board are a tie between the "Is ....... worth it?" and the "Sell me on/ convince me to stay at .........". For heaven's sake people- read the info available, look at photos, ask some SPECIFIC questions, and then make up your own mind. Don't expect total strangers to make it up for you.

I'm always tempted to reply, "No, no one on DISboards has ever stayed there." ;)

The "Is ........ worth it?" and "Sell me on ......." threads drive me nuts too. Usually with the "Is it worth it?" threads the poster is considering upgrading from one hotel category to the next, and really, it's totally subjective whether the jump in price is worth it. Personally, I think it's more important to ask yourself if you are comfortable paying the additional cost than asking if it's worth it.

And with the "Sell me on" threads, it just seems to me that if someone has to be sold on a particular resort, then maybe that isn't the resort they should be considering.

And I totally agree with not expecting total strangers to make up your mind for you. It's not like they're going on the trip with you. ;)

Now that's just stupid. :cool1:

JOKING!!!

1) I agree entirely

2) People whose subject lines are too vague. "WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO?!?!?!" "HELP PLEASE!" "TACOS!"

3) Which brings up the urgency factor - you don't need to type in caps and use that many punctuation marks if you're just trying to figure out which pool is better for your family of 17 for your stay in August 2016.... That's not pressing and yelling doesn't help anyone... hahah :rotfl2: That sort of subject-line and text should be reserved for things like "I'm at POR stuck in my room with an alligator in the bathroom and the floor is getting covered in lava and phones don't work just my internet signal could someone please call the resort for me and have them help me out?!"

Oh, God, yes. First of all, people will be much more likely to read a post if they can actually tell what the question is from the title. Second, it just seems rather juvenile to me to use all caps and multiple question marks and/or exclamation points. People are certainly going to be more than willing to help without the histrionics.

I find it useless to ask others what room number to request at a particular resort. Seriously, if there are 1000 rooms, why would someone think they could request a particular room???? Just book the view you are willing to pay for and then request upper or lower floor. You get what you get!

K

What drives me nuts about that is that what people don't seem to realize is that if that particular room isn't available, then the room assigner isn't going to know why they wanted it, and therefore isn't going to know what a suitable substitute might be.

It drives me nuts when a poster asks a very specific question & someone's answer has nothing/very little to do with question.

What is your favorite breakfast at MK?

My pet peeve is the people who get mad if you don't agree with their opinion. The best example is the visciousness of those who hate DDP. Why do they care if i like free dining over the room discount? For some reason this subject really brings out the worst in ppl. :confused3

Ok, I will admit...my Disboard pet peeve is when folks nit pick over the written rules like somehow they are on the Disney Supreme Court. Yes, line cutting is against the rules and many people teach their children not to cut - but do we really need to hash out who has to pee and whether they get special perks or should be flogged?

Mine is using the resort specific threads to have personal conversations, if you are looking for information you have to trawl through pages of pointless chatter.

Mine is when people ask if free dining is going to be announced in like a year from now. :confused3

Umm, yes, definately. Go ahead and book your plane tickets.

Also, when someone posts a bunch of pics on the picture threads and someone "quotes" the whole picture thread. Can't you just say "Hey nice pictures Bob" in a separate post down below so everyone doesn't have to scroll through the same pictures numerous times?

You are so right with that one! People ask for opinions all of the time, and then get mad when they don't like what they hear. Then they accuse the poster who responded of being mean. The first rule of posting a question on a message board should be don't ask if you can't handle honest answers.

I love the food photos thread but it is annoying when people respond by copying the same picture over and over. Please stop it.

The wars that go on here between deluxe resort people and value resort people. I find those to be rather silly. Comments I have read like "you should be happy just to be going to Disney" or my favorite "I would sleep in a cardboard box just to be at Disney" Really?

Someone offering information that is SEVERELY outdated. Like 5 years ago outdated. Sometimes you just don't have to comment.

Other than that, my pet peeves are all over at the budget board...

Yes, a thousand times yes! Or when they quote an entire long post when they're only commenting on one small part of it.

I also get annoyed when people revive threads that haven't been posted to in months, sometimes even years. Sometimes I think people think that they aren't allowed to start their own threads and instead have to add on to existing threads, even if they're old ones.

3. I agree with 'ressies', but I throw up in my mouth a little when someone types 'brekkie' instead of breakfast.

Yeah, I have to admit that cutesy baby-talk names like this drive me crazy. Especially brekkie.

I'd add Cindy's (previously mentioned), vacay, kiddos, appies, or "the hubster."

"To start our vacay, I'm taking kiddos and the hubster to Cindy's for brekkie." :crazy2:

But I'm still trying for a ressie. And we are going Chrissie (figure that one out).

It bothers me when people say they will never go back to a certain resort because the room had wallpaper peeling, scuff marks on the furniture, stains on the carpet, a light bulb burned out, a broken drawer, a leaking faucet, mildew around the tub tile, etc. They think the hotel room should be alsolutely perfect like they are the first guest to ever stay there? THOUSANDS of people have stayed in that room and it is amazing that Disney keeps them looking as good as they do :thumbsup2 And it certainly wouldn't ruin my vacation or keep me from returning to a certain resort.

I dislike when someone will post a negative about their current resort experience like "My room was not ready on time and our room had a funny smell" and the someone says "HEY DON'T LET IT RUIN YOUR VACATION BRO CHILL OUT"

As if pointing out any negative means you are obsessed with the issue to the point of having your vacation ruined.
