I'm sorry. I'm new to this thread and hope for a simple answer as I don't have the time to scan 100+ pages.

On the FAQ section, I read that you can only refill your mug in the resort that it was bought? This is something they do not make you aware of or it must be in really fine print. As a matter of fact, on our trip a couple of years ago, we hopped to different resorts looking for different colors of mugs so we can all have different colors. The CM's did not have a problem with us buying a mug in one resort and refilling it in another... nor being from one resort and buying the mug at another knowing we would bring it back to our home resort. This rule seems ridiculous to me if it's even true. It seems absurd to me. If you buy the DDP and get the mug, what difference does it make to refill the mug where ever refills are available?

It's written at every filling station, I believe.

Thanks for the response. I did a quick google image search and found this pic:

I don't take that as that you can only fill it at that resort, but only during your stay.

Here is another saying the same thing:

I'm pretty much sure that means refillable during the length of stay, and doesn't have anything to do for where you bought the mug.

Okay.:)

Just a reminder that no debating is allowed in the thread.:)

We've been many times to WDW but never bought the refillable mug. Do you guys think its a good value?

I just gave away probably 30 or more cups..still use some now..and have four in the closet...
SO YES it is a good bargain..
I drink coffee in the morning...and I like iced tea or hot tea and cocoa and cold drinks through out the day..
and they are great to take home to use

If you look at the side of your mug it states "Refills available at no additional charge at Resort Beverage Islands located in the resort that this mug was purchased through the end of your resort stay".

Any sitings of new mugs? I really hope they have new ones when we go in March. I currently have 5 of the ones from last year. I really would like a new one. :)

The other day I was cleaning out my cabinets and I pulled out 25 mugs. :) Some are the old resort mugs. I don't often use the mugs. I just can't bring myself to get rid of them. :)

Thanks. That's really disappointing.

well, albytaps (and all his female family.. boy are you ever outnumbered!:lmao:) likes to go to dif. resorts than the one where he is staying, in order to get the different colors. (wish I had thought of that. I would have liked the orange one).
so if we want to be pickey-uney about it, if he and his wife buy their mugs at CR, but the kids buy theirs at pop, cause they like those colors better, then the kids have to take buses over to the pop century resort every time they want to refil their mug! that will be a major hassle for the albytaps family!:rotfl::rolleyes1

All the resorts are offerings the same lid color choices, black, blue, and pink, so there's no opportunity to visit other resorts for other colors.

Any color variations you may see in photos are two years old now and are no longer available.

Good value is really subjective. Do you drink a lot of pop/soda? Remember the mugs can't be refilled in the parks. Considering the cost of the mugs, and considering the cost of purchasing a pop/soda, if you were to refill the mug 7 or 8 times during your stay you would have more than paid for the mug.

I saw orange, this dec. in person, not a photo. anyhow that wasn't the point. maybe someone decides to pick up their mugs at poly, while they are there for dinner anyway. but they are staying at the BC. it really doesn't matter at which resort you bought them.
for my upcoming trip, I will be buying mine at pop, using them for 2 days only, then going over to AOA, and using them there (on the same vacation). this is definitely allowed. (not trying to "sneak anything)
I was just attempting some humor, picturing the albytaps girls going over to a dif. resort to fill their mugs everytime. "be back soon dad!":lmao:

Okay guys. Obviously, some people will refill the cups.

The thread isn't for debating if its right, wrong, or a necessary evil. All we can do, is point out what's allowed, and what's not.

If you do differently, great. It works for you.

Ok, I'm doing a split stay at two different resorts. Do I have to buy mugs for each resort?

That sorta used to be the case when each resort had it's own style mug. Altho many people went ahead and used em at both resorts anyway.

Today, the mugs are pretty much all the same. So there's hardly any point. And honestly, if you ask at any Disney resort and explain the split trip, they'll tell you .. they put more weight on the "for the duration of your trip" portion than they do "at the resort where you bought it."

That is if they put any weight on it at all.

the above is copied and pasted from the sticky on the 1st page. you're right; according to the disboard moderators, it is allowed. and so there is no debate allowed.

(we aren't talking about bringing back old mugs).

If you are doing a split stay with the dining plan on both resort stays, then you are entitled to a mug at each resort. While in reality you don't have to get another mug at the second resort, but you did pay for it, might as well!!

On our stay in December we had a split stay at AKL and SSR and we asked CMs at both resorts to be sure and they told us we only needed to buy the mugs once. I thought this was interesting because I thought they had started using the RFids. Is this not the case in all the resorts yet? If so, I'm not sure how they can do this. We ended up stocking up on groceries since we had a rental car and full kitchen so I didn't test it out.

Actually if you have the old Dixie Landings mugs they state (and we have confirmation from Disney) that they are good forever.
