"Reshopping" a cruise questions

I went ahead and booked a cruise to Alaska today for July 2014. I was disappointed that it cost just $400 less than the cost of a similar one for 2013. Since this was not a new cruise itinerary & the fact that I called at 8:00 on opening day I thought it would be much cheaper.
So that leaves me with really looking to cut costs.
Questions...
If I "reshop" this cruise onboard in order to get the OBB discount and OBC (we're sailing 3/23/13) can I keep the cabin I booked today?

Also, if I paid for my deposit using Disney gift cards will all of them have to be refunded & reused or can they just transfer them over? Deposit would = about 24 cards! I have had a TA not be pleasant when I had to read them all off. COSTCO (the testy TA there) even told me I could no longer use them after that day even though later I was told that I could. I am hoping to reshop onboard then transfer within the 30 days to COSTCO for the cashcard.

Does it matter if you reshop if your res. is currently held by Disney or COSTCO? I would be out of my 30 day move date for when we are onboard 3/23.
Thank you in advance for your help!!!:thumbsup2

We have always kept the stateroom we had originally when reshopping onboard. In order to reshop onboard with a reservation held by a TA, you simply need to have the TA's name, phone and email so the OBB agent can contact them and confirm that they can transfer the reservation.

IDK about the GC thing.

Thanks Lisa! :wave2: We're so excited to meet you all on the 23rd! Would the new 30 day window apply to when I reshopped it or the original date?

The thing is, if the price has increased to the point where reshopping it wouldn't help and you were to keep the original reservation, it would be beyond the 30 day window.

When you reshop a cruise onboard and you have it with someone like Costco are you transferring it back to Disney or just getting a discount? Can I then transfer it back to COSTCO? Unfortunately I need to do something before I'm onboard. (for the 30 day window rule)

Any one know about the gift card ques. in the 1st post?

I really need to milk any possible discounts in order to afford this cruise!!
TIA!

I don't think they transfer anything back to DCL. The OBB agent just needs to confirm with your TA that it is okay to do the transaction since the TA is in charge of it.
