~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

:welcome: to the 2014 group! Glad you decided to join us!

Early congratulations on your college graduation - what did you major in?

Once you get your dates and other information figured out, be sure to post so I can get you added to the list. Meanwhile, feel free to jump on in to the conversation! :hyper2:

Its a BA in Liberal Arts. My plan is to teach history. Thanks for the welcome!

We are planning first week of June, too (possibly last week of May into that first week)! How were the crowds that week? We have always stayed onsite, and will probably be off site next trip ~ do you mind sharing where you stayed?

We did last week of May in 2012. Our Magic Kingdom Days ended up being really crowded. At the last minute an extra Main Street Electrical Parade was announced (it wasn't on the Times Guide) so I don't think Disney expected it to be so busy. I think I caught some of the Memorial Day Crowds. Touring Plans has the first week of June for 2013 as really low crowd days-- under 6. So that's why I'm thinking first week of June for 2014. We stayed at Seralago ($63 a night) in a family suite (3 bunk beds and a King). It wasn't "Disney" but very nice for the price. The only problem was that they offered shuttles only at 8 am and maybe 11 pm from Ticket Transportation center to the Hotel and vice versa. We had to drive and park on our Magic Kingdom days. We found it to be a great value.

Thanks for the quick response!! My oldest will be out of school a few days before Memorial day, but b/c of that, I am leaning towards just waiting until the first week of june.

There's no job in the world quite like teaching!!! As much as I'm hoping for a snow day that probably won't happen today, I LOVE my job!!! (I teach HS math.)

Yeah, my first post for our dates:banana: February 21-March 1 2014:goodvibes It will be me, DH, 2DD 13 & 6. We aren't sure on where we will stay as of yet. Probably down to, POP, we love it there:love:, AOA LM room, or Davids vacation club rental, for AKL. Although AKL probably won't happen, as we will be buying annual passes this trip. We will be returning December 18-26 2014 with all of our children and have been told by our oldest that they hope to have our first grandchild for that trip!

I think for the first time I will do a pre trip report. I am so excited. No trips for 2013 for us, unless we win won:rolleyes1 But hey, you never know:wizard:

So, here is a mini update ~ it looks like our Sea World/Aquatica vacation for this summer is going to work out! I'm really excited :) I haven't been to SW since I was a kid; I know my girls will love it. We have found a great condo to stay in; the pool is AMAZING! I hope we love it; we, well, DH is going to do a trial run to see how far of a drive it actually is to WDW, and if it is do-able, then we will stay there again next summer for our Disney trip. I'm almost excited about knowing where we will stay in 2014 as I am about the SW trip! We will probably also do a day at the beach ~ not sure which one, so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

:yay: Glad to hear this is going to work out for you! :hyper:

As far as beaches go, Cocoa and Daytona are close. If you want to go to a more "locals" beach, try New Smyrna - not as touristy. :teeth:

Two trips in one year - lucky, lucky! :wizard: Once you get the details worked out for where you're staying for each trip, make sure you post it so I can update the list.

I *love* reading TRs and PTRs! It's almost like an addiction. ::yes:: If you decide to do one, make sure to post a link here!

I was so excited to see a 2014 thread started. We are planning to go January 18-25, 2014, staying at BLT with a SV studio. We will have to wait and see what happens at the eleven month booking window.

This will be our first trip that late in January. We typically go the first two weeks of the month and not had problems with crowds. We are trying to get the most out of buying APs and pushing our January 2014 trip back a few weeks and then going the begnining onf January 2015. Is this wise to do or with the tour group crowds get higher later in January?

Hello, and :welcome: to our group! Glad you found us!

I can't comment on January groups - I've never been that time of year. Hopefully someone else who has can weigh in and advise. ::yes::

I'll get you added to the list. If any of your info changes, just post and I'll update. Meanwhile, feel free to jump on in and join the conversation! :hyper2:

I"ve been 3 times in January ~ twice the last week, and once the first week. The ones at the end of the month had lower crowds than the one at the beginning of January. The only concern about your date is MLK holiday. I haven't looked at the calendar, but are your dates over MLK week-end? If so, I could see it being more crowded than you are used to.

That only leaves you a 3 hour window for dining and transportation. IMHO, that is too close for comfort. If transportation takes longer than it should, or breakfast takes longer than it should ... KWIM? If it were me, I probably wouldn't risk it.

HERE is a good thread I found on transportation from AoA to BC.

How unfortunate. :sad1:
Thank you, though.

I had a bit of Disney happiness yesterday.
My birthday is 2/22 and DH had said he would take me to Disney on Ice and we bought the tickets yesterday. So now I know he is really going. :thumbsup2

I got a Southwest rewards cc last year to get the bonus points so we could fly for free on our last trip. At the airport in December, I upgraded my card to the premium card. I noticed yesterday that both cards still show as active online. So I called. The lady on the phone said the person at the airport didnt upgrade me, they signed me up for a whole new account. I was a little annoyed until she told me she could straighten it out and I would get 25,000 sign up points.:banana:  So now I already have enough points for us to fly for free and I can switch back to using my Disney Visa to earn those points. I was very excited. :goodvibes

wow, that is great!!!

I feel like there's too much we want to do at MK over two days... basically everything minus maybe 5 attractions. :scared:

I feel the same way!! We always do 2 days at MK and I think it is great. We do everything we want, and some things we do again. I'm already worried about how we are going to do everything with the new Fantaslyland stuff. A part of me wants to add a 3rd MK day, but I think my DH would freak, lol.

Well one day we'll have CP @ 8:05 AM, then the other day we'd do RD... I think it'll be doable.

I think Magic KIngdom will still be doable in two days (with lower crowds). However, we may make a list of things we are willing to skip (just in case).

We'll be going in mid-May... hm. We're going to be skipping roughly five/six attractions, though. Good luck on your planning!

Same here. We've already planning on sacrificing a full day at Epcot in exchange for a half day at Epcot and a second full MK day. Even then it seems like we're not going to have enough time.
