Best/Worst concerts

Favorite: Taylor Swift on her speak now tour, my chemical romance on their black parade tour in 2007 when I was obsessed with them.

Worst: whoever those people were that my parents dragged me to go see

Overall Best- Reel Big Fish. Seen them 3 times so far, and each time has been great. High energy, great sound, funny banter in between songs, etc. Just a blast.

Most Impressive- Switchfoot. Won tickets to a private acoustic show/bowling in the morning and the regular concert that night. Wasn't a huge fan and wasn't expecting much. They sounded AMAZING. Sitting in a back-room of a bowling alley with them playing acoustic and it sounded exactly like their cd. Regular concert was just as good. And to top it off, they were so kind and down to earth, funny, and laid back. Wonderful experience.

Worst- The Used. Singer was drunk or high, or maybe both at an outdoor festival. Kept forgetting the words, stumbling around, running his mouth off, etc. Luckily, I was there to see different bands so I just walked away for their portion without feeling like I was missing anything. Great time for a bathroom break, lol.

Biggest Let Down- Dropkick Murphys. One of my very favorite bands, again at an outdoor thing. I don't think it was their fault though, I think it was technical stuff. Sound was just really rough and inconsistent.

Other good shows have been Sum 41 (really great, actually), Flogging Molly, Streetlight Manifesto, Hollywood Undead, The Offspring, and Brooks & Dunn.

Sorry if I am duplicating. DH and I were reminiscing about best and worst concerts we have ever been to; what are yours?

Best:
Bruce Springsteen- just awesome, so many hits
Huey Lewis and the News- fun
Glen Campbell- saw him this past summer at an outdoor theatre. He is in the early stages of Alzheimer's . He played with his son and daughter. One of the sweetest concerts ever.

Worst:
James Taylor-I felt like we keeping him up from a nap
Hank Williams Jr. He was so tanked he forgot the words to his songs...we all had to help out:rotfl2:
Michael Buble- obnoxious foul mouth. Kind of diappointing

Best:

Have to agree on the Boss
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (by surprise)
Rod Stewart (back in the day)
Aerosmith (saw them more than once and loved each concert)
Lynard Skynard
Willie, Waylon, Kris Kristofferson, Jessie Coulter
ELO
Jackson Browne
Kenny Loggins (great concert--outdoors and raining--he performed anyway and sat in the rain playing--major fun despite the icky weather)
Journey
Jethro Tull

I am certain there are many more that I will remember after I hit "submit"

Worst:

Stevie Nicks--love her, but she was way into drugs at the time, bloated and nasty looking--voice out of tune and struggling to perform--severe disappointment and I do love her music--as well as Fleetwood Mac
Deep Purple
A huge outdoor concert that included Ted Nugent and and a boatload of heavy metal bands (along with many drunken idiots) that I simply did not enjoy.

And there really weren't many concerts that were a disappointment--we only attended those that our group of friends :hippie:  enjoyed. We were paying good money and working hard for it.

I wouldn't even spend the money for a concert these days--too pricey and short.

Who would I love to see:

Stones
Paul McCartney
Fleetwood Mac
Beatles, but that ain't happening. :(

Since everyone is panning DMB...
I've seen them 98 times. Dead serious. Love them and they seriously put on the best concert. This 2013 tour I'll finally hit 100 concerts; I've seen them at all sorts of venues, all over the country. And while not every single concert is the best ever, they all rank as some of the best when compared to other artists!

Sting (Annie Lennox opened and loved her!), Police, Eagles, John Mayer, saw Maroon 5 open for Counting Crows (before Maroon 5 hit it big - met Adam Levine... they were AMAZING), saw Jason Mraz open in a parking lot of a DMB concert (a year later he opened on the main stage for DMB, and after that he was a hit), REM, Reel Big Fish, Guster, Rolling Stones, and Jimmy Buffet all stand out as fun times and fun concerts!

Biggest disappointment: Bob Dylan
Luckily it was at a winery and we paid for the dinner/wine service so not all was lost! We still had a great time even though the show was a total snooze.

Best: Michael Jackson - Bad Tour. My very first concert, a gift from my dad for my 13th birthday.

Honorable Mentions: Reba, Tim McGraw/Faith Hill (DHs first concert), Dixie Chicks, BNL (when Steven Page was still with them).

Worst: Hootie and the Blowfish. They were drunk and sounded awful. We left before it was even over.

Best: U2 and Bare Naked Ladies. U2 was just awesome and a spectacular show. BNL was fun and lively.

Worst: Paula Abdul :sad2: Do I even need to say more?

There seems to be no middle ground for DMB. People either love him or hate him, nothing in between. So in a way, it's not shocking people who like him on the radio don't necessarily feel the same about the show. As for me, well let's just say you've already seen them 98 more times than I will :lmao:

I also see mixed reviews here on STYX. I loved them with Dennis DeYoung, but they weren't good without him.

Holy Smokes...I am a huge South Side Johnny fan! I live in NC and never saw him but somehow my brother got me hooked. Is he still around ( and his Asbury Jukes) ;)

Yes, they still tour and are in northeast FL this month.

I've seen hundreds of live shows the past 34 years and have so many fantastic memories. From John Denver, The Who, Paul McCartney to taylor Swift, Andrea Boccelli and The Eagles.

Best- every one of the dozen times i've seen U2 live. It's like a spiritual high for me. My dream is to see them perform in Dublin. My absolute favorite thing to do in life!

Worst- Harry Connick Jr. It felt like he was having a private jam session with his musical buddies instead of playing to the audience.

I cannot believe this.....he is playing here Friday night!!!!! It was meant to be!!!!:faint:

Have a great time! It was 30 yrs ago that they played Bentley College outside Boston. I may be getting old, but never too old to rock!

The best concerts that I have gone to is both Spice Girls concerts in 1998 during their SpiceWorld Tour when it was the four of them. And again in February 2008 during their reunion tour with all five of them.

Never really had a worst concert because I have only gone to the two concerts above.

Best - Rush, saw them a few years ago, awesome!

Worst - David Lee Roth/Van Halen & maybe Skid Row - I was 14 and with my mom, 'nuff said :lmao:

Best: death cab for cutie in 2005 sigh love love love them. Concert with panic at the disco, boys night out, motion city soundtrack and fall out boy. Most fun I've ever had at a concert. Garth brooks my first ever concert when I was little and then I got to see him again a few years ago at the Wynn before he started headlining there. It was with his full band and I sat front row! It was AMAZING. My dad works there and has worked for Garth before so he surprised me and his girlfriend with the tickets. It was a limited access show not open to the public so it was a huge deal to be able to go.

Honorable mention: paramore, jacks mannequin, new found glory, gold finger, the matches

Worst: Santana. I was 8 months pregnant and we had a friend give us the tickets for free but it was standing room only. I just couldn't handle standing any longer and I hated that the songs dragged on. We left early. Hoobastank. They were terrible terrible terrible.

Best: Bon Jovi, Kenny G (amazing!), Jimmy Buffet, Duran Duran

Worst: only because it was so boring, Josh Groban. Beautiful voice but he talked about nothing for long periods. Just boring.

Best: No Doubt - had early entry were right at the front of the general admission area they put on a KILLER show, hoping they tour again with the new album. To make it even better Paramore was one of the opening bands.

Worst: hmm... almost every second opening act? Known to my friend and I as the curse of the second band, or any All Time Low set... I hate seeing them live, for some reason they are a million times louder than any other band...

I've been to a lot of concerts and usually throughly enjoy myself. It's a great way to hear new music, as I often don't know all the opening bands.

Best is a tie between NKOTB and BNL

Also great was The Rolling Stones

Least favourite was Brooks and Dunn because I don't like country. I went because my bf at the time asked me to go.
