I have noticed on some of the longer cruises, people dress up for formal and semiformal nights. On our past longer cruises, Rich has worn a tux. He has a cute mickey cummerbund and tie. So what are the guys wearing for 1) Formal and 2) semiformal?

aan1701 & neg58- thanks for the feedback, especially on flight timing re: SNA & airline checking probably only for LAX - how does that work, anyways?

I did some more looking around and got a pretty good deal on Frontier out of SNA at 3:05 - now we don't have to rush around Monday morning! Unfortunately, we don't get to Indy til 11:18, but for the $$ we saved, I can't complain too much!

Regarding formal/semi-formal - we're casual folks & don't plan on going all out. Scott's probably wearing black dress pants & shoes, a white long sleeve shirt & Disney tie (he found a great Mexico-themed one on eBay last week!) and I'll wear a nice dress (but no heels!) . In fact, we're seriously thinking of skipping the second semi-formal - depends on the menu/restaurant.

We're hoping for a Palo brunch & will probably dress for that as we would for regular dinners - khakis and a polo/hawaiian shirt for him, a sundress or skirt/top combo for me - I assume that's "dressy" enough?

Our last cruise was the first where we skipped formal/semiformal nights altogether ... And while I did feel a tiny bit like I was missing something which I had always enjoyed, the far more overwhelming feeling was relief at not having to log around those dresses, heels, ties, jacket ...

This time I am probably going to take at least one nice dress (not floor-length, though) and maybe a pair of heels, and DH is going to go with dark slacks, a dark polo shirt or short-sleeved white shirt, and dress shoes (he has worn those for a long time already and is probably going to chuck them at the end of the cruise, so more free luggage space for the homeward journey ).

Pretty casual, I know ... but at least we won't arrive in our swim wear

Do you guys do door magnets? Its one of my favorite ways to prepare for a Disney cruise. I have a big Toy Story themed door, but now I'm thinking of making another door theme so I can switch it out since this cruise is a little longer.

Paris is Charles de Gaulle, Bologna (Italy) is Guglielmo Marconi, Wroclaw (Poland) is Nicolaus Copernicus...I know there is more, but I can't remember them.

I think there are more folk who dress up on these longer cruises. Well from what I have noticed anyway. More tuxes generally but not every guy by any means. I like the chance to dress up as I am not a smart dressy person at all normally and you don't get the chance very often do you?

You get a wide range of clothing on formal and semi formal.

This is why we rent a tux onboard. As for heels... well, I don't remember the last time I wore heels. I pack folding slippers made out of shiny material and a pair of flip flops that have rhinstones on them. They take up barely any room and if one's dress is long enough, no one sees your shoes, anyway.

The dresses themselves are not any bigger than the rest of my clothes. Although I am seriously considering wearing my wedding dress this trip--ruby red ball gown with beading. I just don't know if it will look right without the crinoline.

We like to dress up as well. There are usually 2 formal nights and 1 semiformal. DH's tux and my cocktail dresses get put to good use.

On formal and semi formal nights the staff really go out their way to make the evening special. I think they appreciate it when we participate. I know I appreciate their effort and compliments.

We definitely dress up for formal/semiformal nites including Jackson. He loves to wear his tux. Its funny when we got him the tux we thought this is really silly but considering this is his third time wearing it we have more than got our moneies worth. On the other nights we do wear nice dinner clothes - I personally prefer dresses to pants also.

This cruise my husband is taking dress pants and a sports jacket for formal and semi . I will probably take a long dress and pants and jackets for semi . Luggage space is limited.

Spent the last two days at Disney . It was not crowded at all. Spent day at Animal Kingdom and ate at Tusker House. The food there this time I felt was not up to par

I am also in the "dresses are more comfortable than pants" camp, so I will be in dresses nearly if not all evenings. For formal nights my husband (Joe) is in a dark suit and I'm in a cocktail dress. For semi-formal Joe wears a sportcoat and slacks in a different color and I'm in a nice dress.

My packing trick is to use the same shoes for both formal nights. This cruise will be easier to pack for and things should be lighter b/c it will be mostly warm for the entire voyage - MUCH easier to pack for than a transatlantic.

Good! On our last Dream cruise it seemed like nobody really did them. I enjoy it and look forward to seeing them on my room - like a welcome home I guess - so I would do them no matter what. But its nice to know that others will be doing them.

Good to know. We used to go to Tusker House a lot back when it wasn't character dining. Did you do the breakfast or lunch? We always liked their seafood stew.

Well for formal night I have to wear a jacket and tie. On semi formal its a tie. All other nights its slacks and shirt with a collar. Some nights after dinner I will get back into my shorts and t-shirt

Also, is anyone interested in doing a stateroom crawl? Basically "tour" one of each kind of room. I've never seen an ocean view stateroom and I'm sure other people would like to see other kinds as well. Anyone on the thread have a suite?

We would be interested in opening our room for a crawl. Are you volunteering to organize it?

We do the cruise line formalwear rental. It's so much easier than having to carry a tux and that way there's more room for my awesome dresses.

We did Tusker House for lunch and like I said I was a little disappointed in the food and Mickey never. made it to our table

hmmm... kids the same age and you do the same shoe thing... maybe we're long lost sisters. I always just pack a pair of super light rhinestone flip flops for formal night and palo.

We rent the formal as well. DH wears a size 13 shoe. One pair alone takes up half the space in a rolling arryon. I can fit a pair of my shoes inside his.
