'You Big Fatty!' A delicious dining review- COMPLETE!!

Loving your reviews!! I must admit that those wontons from Y&Y have been on my mind since I had them last - 4 years ago! I was so excited when my husband said we should go there again since he loves the mango cheesecake.;) So, it's on our list for our trip in 2 months. Yeah!

Also need to check out that shrimp and fries basket at CHH and that strawberry shortcake at SS.

Thanks for broadening my horizons!

Ooh! So jealous! Wish I was going back there! Yak n Yeti is a bit of a must do for us now. We love it.

Love your review! Sanaa looks amazing I have to try to get an adr there for our october trip.

We would go back to Sanaa - probably for dinner though. And with a different server!

So the cheese danish is sweet?

That's what I wanted to fathom out Meryll! Yes, it is - like any other danish pastry. And the cheese part is like a sweet cream cheese. Delicious!

Thanks y'all for reading - CG coming up!

Simon and I had fallen in love with CG way back in 2006 when we went there during a family holiday and had our date night. It was the most magical meal we had ever had.

Since that experience we've been back there on every visit, even taking the girls there once.

But this time we were ditching the kids and going for the romance!

We got there early and spent a bit of time exploring the Contemporary Resort:

We checked in and were thrilled to find out we were in the wine room again - we love this quiet little area of the restaurant. It has amazing views:

They had decorated our table for our anniversary:

We decided to share an appetiser. We had the cheeseburger flatbread with wagyu beef:

CaliforniaGrill0182.jpg

Oh my goodness - this was amazing! All the components of a cheeseburger but done with a typical CG flair. Absolutely delicious.

Onto the main course - Simon had his old trusty favourite, the filet of beef on mashed potatoes:

I think I had some kind of chicken dish which was also delicious:

Yep - we were having a great time:

We decided to share the chocolate cake for dessert - this is how they served it:

This was another outstanding experience at the California Grill, we both had an amazing time. The service was second to none and the food was delicious. You can tell by our expressions on the way home how much we loved it :

Still firmly on our must- do list.

Big fatty rating: 9 out of 10!

Coming up: Artist Point!

So that's what the Wine Room does to you ;)

We have Artist Point on our plan to try for the first time this year, let's see whether it stays...

Yes Meryll - the wine room always has a funny effect on us! :lmao:

Hmmmm....the responsibility! We have always adored Artist Point...will it remain that way......?

Glad to see that your CG dining experience was superb!! It does indeed look like you were pleased with your date night! ;) We've been in the wine room twice but have always gone when it is so dark... I love seeing the twilight outside the window of the restaurant.

I hope they have a filet on the menu when they re-open! :)

Finally got all caught up and love all the pics/reviews!

Thank you so much for reading!

I love watching night fall from the Wine Room :) The changing sky is wonderful! I'm sure the filet won't be going anywhere!

Artist Point had become a bit of a must do with us guys recently - Sarah especially loved it and we had enjoyed some amazing food there during our last couple of visits to WDW. When we asked the girls to choose a restaurant each, this was Sarah's choice and we didn't need much persuading.

We always love visiting Wilderness Lodge:

We checked in and were shown to our table. We were brought some bread:

And this looks like a cocktail of some sort....:rolleyes1

Simon, Sarah and Kate all had the buffalo:

While I had the steak:

I decided to try the famous cobbler for dessert:

DisneyDay19038.jpg

I was really glad I did - it was lovely and delicious. A mixture of warm cobbler and cold ice cream, with fresh berries.

I don't know who got this dessert but it looks nice:

The food here was as good as ever - but I'm sorry to say that we didn't have the best service. It wasn't awful but just not as wonderful as most Disney service is.

It probably means that Artist Point won't be on our list for next time...:sad2:

Big Fatty Rating: 6 out of 10 (and you really expect more from a signature restaurant)

Coming up: Nine Dragons!

We have Artist Point down as a new try this time, as well as Nine Dragons :)

What was bad about the service?

Mostly when you are on the dining plan restaurants don't differentiate from anyone else - but our server just wasn't bothered. She might have thought she wasn't going to get a decent tip.

Also, despite the restaurant being nearly empty we were stuck away in a corner, far away from the beautiful scenery outside.

Just didn't feel like a signature experience :guilty:

Too bad about Artist Point. Looking forward to hearing about Nine Dragons.

Artist Point is a must-do restaurant for us due to a great deal of emotional ties we possess for it. The food is consistently delightful (with one exception when it was just average), but we have had two notable lapses in service in back-to-back trips. One such incidence involved an over-the-top server who provided cheerful, yet non-ending, chatter while we were attempting to enjoy a romantic meal. We wouldn't have minded if he had also paid as much attention to serving us as he did bantering with us and nearby tables. In other words, he talked so much that our meal became laboriously long. The second incident occurred in our next trip, about a year later, and we had a server who literally flipped the menus in our direction as he walked by and who we constantly had to flag down to take our order, get water, etc. He was abrupt and almost sullen most of the night. However, we've since been back two more times and each time the food and service was topnotch. I wouldn't cross AP off your list based on the one poor service. And for what it's worth, we always ask for a window table. Enjoying the reviews! :thumbsup2

Happy Saturday everyone! :wave2:

So - the next day we must have been to Sunshine Seasons for breakfast because I found a picture of this little beauty:

DisneyDay20001_zpsca402a78.jpg

We love dropping in here for breakfast before going off to have lots of fun in EPCOT.

And much fun was had on this day...so much fun that by the time we got to Nine Dragons we were having a bit of teenage angst once more....hey ho!;)

We do love Nine Dragons and the food is consistently good here. We decided to share a couple of starters. The walnut toast:

DisneyDay20012_zps0cddaa15.jpg

And we continued our love affair with pot stickers:

DisneyDay20013_zpse5245c21.jpg

Me and Sarah decided to share the honey chicken:

DisneyDay20014_zps15ae5c35.jpg

Simon had the beef:

DisneyDay20015_zps8d3e86ba.jpg

I don't think we had any dessert as I was having a bit of a Mummy strop (I blame the heat...:lmao: )

But the food here was as delicious as ever. It's such a nice restaurant and we always get good service here. And it's a place to have a break from the World showcase.

Big Fatty Rating: 6 out of 10 (would have been higher except for grumpiness!)

Coming up: Oh my goodness! The last day and Liberty Tree Tavern :guilty:

Is that walnut toast the same thing as the shrimp toast? I have read some negative reviews about the shrimp toast but it looks like something I'd like to try. Did it have a shrimpy taste? It looks delish!

Yes, it was exactly the same as shrimp toast - it had walnuts on the top! We loved it - very moist but crispy round the outside. Thanks for reading!

HELOOOOO SHARI

Long time no 'speak' Mrs!

Just caught up with your excellent reviews :thumbsup2

How's it all going? are you heading back to WDW this year? ..... questions, questions!
