Arg! We made our reservations for a late lunch for our FIRST TRIP (2 days in Feb). We are surprising DD with the castle meal. And now, with this lousy new menu, there is NOTHING for dh and I to eat. I am not kidding. I am so sad and mad. :( Below are the adult choices. Brussels sprouts, really?? And I don't do beef and he doesn't do fish or any alcohol.

He didn't really want to go to CRT anyway, and I insisted b/c dd is a princess fanatic. I don't think I am even going to tell him. :(

Any sympathy? Please?? Am I the only one who thinks this menu is insane???

Could you check for a breakfast ADR (people do cancel)?

I agree everything has mushrooms or brussel sprouts...not two universally beloved ingredients.

CRT really isn't worth it for me so take this for what it is worth. I don't think that the menu looks particularly appetizing, but not too bad, either. For the price, I wouldn't be happy, but I would survive. I would likely order the chicken, gnocci, or short ribs. I completely agree with you in not understanding why they would make brussel sprouts a side. Is there a more universally loathed vegetable? Any chance that you can sub something else?

I think the menu looks delicious!!! :goodvibes There's nothing you could eat? At all? What about going for breakfast instead?

Or how about going to Akershus since your DD loves princess' so much?

Where did you find this new menu? I looked on allears but didn't see the changes.

We have ressies for dinner in May. Is there a new dinner menu, too?

If the Pork Shank is half as good as the one at Gaston's Tavern... Count me in.:thumbsup2

Sorry. No sympathy here. First, Brussels Sprouts served as a side vegetable are not going to ruin the meal if you don't like them. Just don't eat them. Second, many people (like me) love Brussels Sprouts. Would you rather have cooked to death carrots or soggy green beans? Some would. Some woudn't. Can't please everyone. Third, there is no requirement that every restaurant serve unimaginative dishes that aim for the culinary middle. Where else does that happen? If you go to New York and you are choosing between Nobu, Babbo and Eleven Madison Park, you look at the menus and select which one appeals to you more. But you don't complain that your really want to go to Nobu, but you wouldn't like anything on the menu because it is Japanese. "Seaweed and eel? Really? Does anyone actually like that stuff?" Yes. People do. And if you don't, you go somewhere else. If you don't like the menu at CRT, pick another restaurant. There seems to be more and more of a sense of entitlement when it comes to dining that CRT, BoG, or what-have-you have some moral obligation to serve food that "everybody likes" whatever that is. These places serve good food. If it isn't to your liking, then you move along.

You took the words out of my mouth (and said it better than I could have).
I agree wholeheartedly.
If you don't like the menu at a particular restaurant, than you don't have to go there. There are over 100 restaurants in WDW. I am sure one will please you. Some of us enjoy different things.

Looks to me like a nice change for the menu, with a very broad assortment of meats, fish or veggie options. Heck, I even love brussel sprouts and mushrooms, but I know I'm in the minority! When we went for lunch about nine months ago, we were less than thrilled, so I guess any menu change is going to bring love from some and disgust from others. From my perspective, it seems clear that they are trying to respond to previous complaints about the food and step it up a notch, but I will readily admit that rarely, if ever, will there be a universally approved menu change for any restaurant.

For better or worse, CRT has never been about the food anyway. I can't imagine what they might could serve that would/could ever live up to the hype or price of dining in a castle...we're all so upset about paying out the nose to eat there that no food could ever live up to the standard we tend to expect - ha! We have eaten at CRT two or three times in the past, and I have always just had to appreciate the fact that going to WDW with young kids is not about me...it took us about five years before my girls were willing to ride anything with the word "mountain" in it, but now they love all the mountains and even RnR, ToT and EE, so after much patience and many rides of Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo, we are finally turning the corner and riding some more dad-friendly rides (or at least this dad!). In the meantime, seeing my girls' faces light up at princess interactions and over-priced castle meals was just part of the experience and totally worth it. I actually ran across some old CRT photos last night while cleaning out some drawers, and DW and I both almost started crying when we saw our girls a few years ago dressed like princesses and hugging Cinderella. They are now still just 10 and 8, but have virtually no interest in that stuff anymore. Not sure if you can get that point across to DH, but don't let the opportunity escape to make those memories (...unless you've already done it a couple of times, made said memories and paid the piper -- there IS a limit to it -- ha!).

If the lunch/dinner options are not appealing, I would jump on the breakfast bandwagon and see if there might be an available ADR. Having breakfast there also provides the potential benefit of getting into the park before it opens, getting a head-start on the rest of the park guests and, if doing the early thing, avoiding an interruption in otherwise "productive" time in the park to stop and eat. Definitely eases the pain of the price a bit...and let's be honest...it's hard to mess up breakfast food!

I thought the menu looked really good too. OP, your DH could order sides off the kids menu if Brussels Sprouts are not to his liking.

Sorry, I think the menu looks really good.... it's funny, people have complained that the food at CRT was too ordinary for chargine 2TS, so now they've kind of brought it up a little and that doesn't work either. I think you can never please everyone all of the time. I would try for breakfast where it might be more to your liking.

It kind of makes me a little bummed we are doing breakfast there and not dinner.....:scratchin

I wouldn't eat that either! :crazy2:

I don't see anything wrong with the menu. It honestly looks a bit more 'fancy' to me - maybe to go along with the castle setting. Granted, I've never looked at the wording on the old menu. I'm partial to T.G.I. Fridays, so what do I know?!

They've got a main course from each group to try and make everyone happy - pork, beef, fish, chicken....

:confused3

I know! When BOG's kids menu came out with new and unusual findings people complained after years of complaints that the menus were all the same and generic kids food :lmao:

All of the entrees sound good, and honestly, aren't that exotic. I'm sure you'd be able to request a different side to go with your chicken, fish, pork, etc. or go to town on the bread service.

Did you look at Akershus as an alternative?

appeal to me and some don't. Chefs tend to go wtih trendy items rather than what main stream likes. If they offer substitutions that makes it easier to taper to indivudual tastes. I had them serve me 'root' vegetables at Captains Grille. They were harder than raw carrots and not at all appetizing. I just ate around them.

Personally if we don't like the menu we don't book an ADR. My wife is a meat and taters person and would not be happy if I took her there.

You can't control a menu change that happens after you book your ADR but you can change venues.
