I need some opinons... I got a quote from disney for POR 8/27-9/2 with 5 day park tickets and dining for 3 adults 2 kids for $3,843 ( i had a pin for 30%)... Then i got a quote from MV for the YC but no dining and a bonus water park day for $2,575... im just wondering what you all think i should do... what if free dining comes out? i will loose out on that so will i really be saving at all...i mean we dont spen a ton of time in the hotel room....ugh soooo confused any info or opinons are welcomed!:surfweb:

I haven't been there yet but from what I've read the pool at YC is like a mini water park so I'm not sure having a bonus water park day would appeal to me much if staying there.

I'm doing a split stay this trip at both POR and BC. It's not so much for the rooms as for being so close to the action with HS, Epcot, and the Boardwalk right there. If I could swing staying there the whole trip I would.

And from what I'm reading it doesn't sound promising there will be free dining by then.

Do you think you can eat $1300 worth of food in those days? As far as resort the YC is a deluxe and the POR is a mod so its a nicer hotel and you will not have to walk as much to get around the hotel grounds.

YC and POR simply don't compare. YC is a deluxe resort just steps away from EP. POR is a mod plain and simple. I would book YC and IF free dining comes out, re-assess your options. You can always cancel YC. I don't know how old your kids are, but I just ran the numbers on the Disney site and if you pull dining off, the POR package is more than MV's YC package. Yes, if free dining comes out (I'm really skeptical about this - haven't seen it yet this year), you will save by eventually switching to a different resort. I would lock that YC rate in and wait and see.

I can't imagine a family of 5 would eat $1300 worth of food over 5 days on the DDP. I just tallied up our reservations and estimated what our costs for the meals would be OOP vs. on the DDP (we also have a family of 5: 2 adults, one child who is a "Disney adult," and two children) for 5 days. Most of our table service ADR meals are going to run us about $150 at the highest estimates. Coupled with counter service (about $50 for all 5 of us) and a snack ($25), that's about $200 per day for food if we eat a snack, a counter service meal, and table service meals. I'll even be generous and throw in an extra $25 on top of that estimate, making your OOP costs somewhere around $225 per day if you eat expensive meals and get dessert with every meal (like you might if you were on the DDP).

x5 days = $1125

I think eating an extra $175 worth of food over 5 days, while not impossible, would be difficult to make the DDP worth it (and certainly you could save money by not getting it: Many of our table service meals I've estimated will cost us about $75-100 for all five of us, thereby bringing your total daily food cost down to about $150 per day--or $750 total for 5 days)

Assuming the Yacht Club quote included tickets, without question, I'd book Yacht Club. Your total cost should be less than the POR stay for much nicer accommodations and a bonus water park day.

I would go with the YC. The room will be bigger and you'll save a lot of time traveling since you can walk to two parks. I think it will be unlikely that you will spend $1300 on food, at worse you will break even.

We've never stayed at POR or YC, but we have stayed at the BC and loved it. I would go with the YC for that much of a savings for a deluxe resort. The Epcot resort area is beautiful and as others have said, you can't beat being within walking distance to Epcot and DHS.
