WBPC May 6th 2013 Wonder

Just a suggestion . . . if you guys want a quietly relaxing time together a deux, you probably don't want Diversions anyway - it's a PUB. You want the Cadillac lounge . . . quiet, dim, low key, romantic. Or the outlook bar, overlooking the adult pool. Or the Cove Cafe - not just a coffee place, but an adults only space with a bar.

And then, for non-alcoholic relaxation, there's the Rainforest room, the exotic rasul, or couple time in the spa . . .

I agree. The bar at Palo is nice as well.

DOUBLE DIGITS!!

Yeah!

Finally got a chance this week to:

--Book flights
--Finish check-in
--Book Palo brunch & dinner
--Book Puerto Vallarta & Cabo excursions
--Finalize private tour for Cartagena

--Add DCL transfer from LA port to DLH

Whew! Hope I didn't forget anything...

Yup, taxes and fees went down by about $9 a person. We got $36 and change back.

I haven't seen any refund for us yet. I figured we booked so cheap they would ask us for money. No rooms left for 5b but I priced 5a and it was over twice what we paid. Don't know what excites me more..... The cruise or the fact I got such a great deal!

My TA said DCL is processing them one stateroom at a time, so it might take a bit.

The 5A is almost 3x what I paid for the 5B!

We just added another person to our cabin and was afraid there wouldn't be room because there aren't many cabins left, but we got lucky. We're all getting really excited and need to start researching the ports and the canal history.

Wow, just looked. I have a 5A that I picked out and it's almost 2 grand more now! If anyone is interested there are still one bedroom cabins available for $14,000...........

Question for those PC veterans: do they sell rainforest passes for the whole 2 weeks? Cost?

Also, any suggestions for anything special we would need on this cruise? Bug spray? Allergy pills? I just don't know what to expect being that far south in May.

Sorry can't help out with the spa. In 12 cruises I have never once stepped in there. I would only bring bug spray if you go on a tour that goes to a rainforest to be safe. Also I don't know your allergies so that's hard to answer I say better safe than sorry.

Good job. All we have to do is figure out were we would like to stay in Miami. I am not planing on getting off the ship until it gets here to L.A. after Castaway. Got my transfers to LAX since my car will be there. Brunch is booked. DW tour in Cartagena is booked. Can't do flights till the day before we leave to get an idea of what looks good to get to Ft. Lauderdale.

They are doing funky things with inventory this week. Yesterday there were no porthole rooms for 4 and today the porthole rooms are back but the verandahs are all gone. Still a ton of inside rooms. One week to Silver check-in!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
So it looks like a lot of people have taken this cruise before? It will be our first Panama Canal. My husband is VERY excited about going through the canal & has bought a few books already.

Hmmm, I do remember you - we must have chatted before/during the cruise. We are big fans of the longer itineraries...seems like we are not the only ones!

I think this is one cruise the guys really look forward to.I could never get John interested in cruising till the 2008 PC came up and together with it being my 60th birthday and being the Panama Canal I got him onboard!! Been hooked since.

Well there was loads of chat before the TA cruise. I don't think I could do a 3 or 4 night cruise again ever. Long ones are the best and even better if lots of sea days.

New to this thread. Booked the OGT rate about a week or so ago and glad I did :thumbsup2 as it no longer exists. I am a solo sailer and looking forward to meeting you all and catching up on the thread. :)

Welcome to the group.

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Yes, they did sell length of cruises Rain forest passes and they were A LOT! I'm away from home right now and can't check my navs, but i'm thinking they were in the upper 200 range. remind me again next week, if someone else hasn't already given you a definitive answer.

I took both allergy stuff and bug wipes, and didn't use either one, however, I did not go to the jungle, either. Expect 'hot' and 'wet'.

Happy Day, ALL!

DITTO!! I think Diversions is the BEST place to enjoy games. That is what it is there for! The only bad part about Diversions would be that kids would not be able to play too since it is adults only at night. My son is a Munchkin addict and he loves Carcassonne as well.

I like the idea of having multiple game nights. Maybe we can just keep the plans loose and just have a vote on what game to play based on who shows up that night.

Hi, I am new to this thread. Good to see the Geezers will be meeting. I joined them on the 2010 WBTA. Fun group. I will be traveling with my friend Evelyn, whom I met in 2011 on the Western Caribbean. We just booked this month & will be in cabin 6588.

Are people still looking for things to do in Cartagena? We want to do a private tour and are looking for adults to join us.

Here is an overview of our tour:

From the pier we drive to the Monastery of Our Lady of the Candle, built early 17th Century on La Popa Hill, for a visit. Also from the top of the hill we will be able to take in a beautiful view of the city and the bay. We continue the tour with a stopover at San Felipe de Barajas Fortress, a military engineering masterpiece, erected as part of the defensive system to protect the city. At this photo stop, from the bottom, we explain to you about the construction techniques, dates, attacks, etc.

Then we drive towards the walled colonial city. First we take some time off at the handicraft stores of Las Bóvedas (Optional). After shopping, (if we stop) we take a walk along the quaint streets for a close-up view of the old homes and beautiful balconies, plazas and religious buildings such as the Cathedral, the Inquisition Palace; we also pass by Bolívar´s plaza and Customs Plaza, making photo stops all the time, naturally!!! At the end of the walk, we visit the Sanctuary of Saint Peter Claver.

After the walk and visit we board the van and depart towards the modern areas of the city to admire the architecture, the forts by the bay; then we make a stop at the Emerald Museum/workshop for emeralds and a drink!! This tour takes approximately 4 to 4 ½ hours.

Prices vary according to the number of people. We have 2 people so far (me and my husband) and we are looking for 4 more people to join us. With 6 people in the van, the cost will be $70 USD per person. That price includes the cost of transportation in an air-conditioned van, tickets to monuments, guide's fees and port's fees. Payment will be, in US$ in cash, at the end of the tour; and a free video copy of the tour will be given to each couple.

To get a video preview of the tour, click here: http://youtu.be/uQ0nsPNJwxQ

This tour company comes highly recommended from Cruise Critic and you can't beat that price! :thumbsup2

If you are interested, let me know. Adults only ;)

I hear ya Marilyn! We took a 7 day BTB on the Dream in October and even the 7 days seemed really short.

Sounds really good! I am definitely interested, but I wll have to check with DH once he finally decides to answer his phone :sad2:;)

So anyway, if you still have room, we may join you - I will get back to you later by PM!

If anyone is interested there are still one bedroom cabins available for $14,000...........

I'm curious if anyone has any guesses on how much it would be to upgrade to the one bedroom suite from a 5A in port.... I'm seriously thinking about it. We are totally pampering ourselves with this trip. While I'm not willing to shell out the 14k, I may be alright with a 1 or 2k upgrade (not sure yet).
