Great update! I can't believe that lady being so anti-EPCOT! (though, sadly, I really can - there are all too many people who don't feel the Disney magic, including members of my own family.) Personally, EPCOT is my favorite of all the Florida parks. Whenever I go for more than 4 park days, EPCOT is guaranteed to be a twice-visited (and possible thrice-visited!) park.

We overheard a similar type Epcot comment a few years back and my now 13 year old DS said to me, "Epcot has something for everyone. There are good rides, lots of good food, characters, shows, entertainment, hands-on stuff and going to the world showcase is like going to museums. How can you not find something you like at Epcot?"

So exciting!!!! I love the morning of a Disney trip!!!! I love Allies shirt so much! It's so cute! Wow! I can't believe that lady was trashing EPCOT! >:-( I guess Disney's not for everyone after all! Who knew??

Nice foreshadowing there, now I understand why my parents yelled at me when I didn't weigh my luggage the night before I left for Disney. All makes sense now! lol jk Can't believe the lady on the plane. Someone seems to be missing a whole lot of magic in their life. But yeah, more for us!

So jealous you guys get to go a few times a year to WDW!! My sister and me did our first trip last year in January and ended up staying for 3 weeks and we're coming back this October for a Disney Cruise and to spend some more time in the world!!!

Chapter 2- "We've Been Here for Ten Seconds and You're Already Pin Trading."​

July 14th, 2012​

We were drivin' along, lovin' life and listening to the radio and pretty soon we were approaching...

THE GATES OF HEAVEN ON EARTH.

WELCOME HOME.

We were soooo happy. I don't think we stopped screaming until we got here:

Just kidding. We were still freakin' out.

HAPPY CHIPPY!

We approached the beautiful Boardwalk and got out of the car. I saw a CM with pins and he had one that I liked.

I kid you not, we were out of the car for literally ten seconds and I was already pin trading.

Frump life.

Allie was laughing at me. She didn't get the craziness of pin trading at first, but after a couple days she was just as into it as me and we are both pin freaks now. She even got her boyfriend into it!

Happy pin trader:

We lugged all of our stuff in the lobby and I started FREAKIN' OUT! I'd never actually been inside the lobby of the Boardwalk, and it is SOOO PRETTY! Holy crap.

I'm in love. This was seriously the day that started it all. The EPCOT resorts are my absolute favorite places on the planet and the Boardwalk is just the epitome of my bliss. I LOVE it there so much. Everything from the theming and the ambience to the hidden Mickeys in the carpet and the striped socks that the male CM's wear. IT'S ALL PERFECTION.

Anywho...

We found out that our room was ready, got our room keys, and Allie and I headed up to the room while the Units took care of some other check-in formalities. We had a TON of stuff to carry, so when we got to the room this nice family walking by held the door open for us while we got our stuff inside. How sweet.

Our room was on the fourth floor, and here's the best part: IT WAS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE ELEVATORS.

If you've ever stayed at the Boardwalk, you know how nice this is.

We literally took five steps from the elevator and BAM- we were there.

It was great.

Here's the tour of our one-bedroom villa!

This was really nice, and we used it way more than I thought we would!

Allie and I shared this for the duration of our stay, and it was SO big and SO comfy! I loved it!

There were actually two balconies, one in the living room and one in Allie's parents bedroom. It was really nice that we each had our own!

I loved this balcony. I loved sitting on it at night and hearing the jazzy 20's music and just people watching. One night, this group of people in club-wear were walking to the parking lot and they were all REALLY drunk, and the one girl did a complete face-plant. She seemed okay, it I was CRACKING UP. So funny.

Of course we had to turn on Stacey next! Unfortunately, due to a solar flare that was linked back to OUR ROOM (I'm not even kidding- the whole resort was having TV issues and the entire problem was linked to us. Oops.) Stacey was really choppy.

We got through that tragedy (somehow), unpacked and planned to meet up with the Units later on at the Boardwalk. The plan for the four of us was to head to EPCOT, but we had different agendas. So, the Units got to the villa and started unpacking just as we said au revior! We had an important stop to make before heading to EPCOT!

So through the totally gorgeous lobby we went and into the morning sunshine! Stay tuned!

Chapter 3- "I Think It's Bastille Day..."​

July 14th, 2012​

We headed outside and down to the Boardwalk!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day!

My beautiful Yacht Club.

Since we hadn't eaten anything since the airport at like 5:30 A.M., Al and I were in need of a snack!

So what better place to go than the Boardwalk Bakery? Seriously, this place is awesome. It smells SO GOOD and everything in there is DELICIOUS. I know, I've tried almost all of it.

What should we choose?

Allie wants EVERYTHING!

She ended up going with a chocolate croissant, though. Disney chocolate croissants are the BEST!

I went with the strawberry cupcake!

We got one of the cute high red tables by the water to enjoy our snacks. They were delicious! My cupcake was so light and the strawberry filling was delicious! I loved it!

I don't think so.

The Units walked by us on their way to EPCOT at one point, and we tried to get their attention, but they were totally oblivious. Ah well.

Once we finished up our snack, we headed to EPCOT. We went through International Gateway, which is actually the best thing ever, and headed to Future World! As we saw France from across the bridge, we noticed some flags on the posts and it looked like some celebration was going on. I wondered aloud what it was and Allie goes, "I think it's Bastille Day," all matter-of-factly. To that I replied, "What the heck is Bastille Day?" At that, she want on this rant about dungeons and rebellion and something about "ATTACK!" I still didn't know what it was, but it was truly hilarious so I was glad I asked.

Allie started to hear the Innoventions Loop, which is her FAVORITE. Happy girl.

TOUR GROUP SPOTTING:

It's July. It's Disney. There's gonna be tour groups.

We knew this. And this was SO not our first encounter with these obnoxious fools. SO NOT.

We ignored them as best we could (after sniping them, of course) and headed into The Land, where we breathed deeply and acquired some Soarin' Fastpasses for later on. HOORAY!

Then we headed to the Imagination Pavilion to visit Figment!

NO DANCING!

Hidden Mickey!

I'm pretty sure we were the only ones dancing on this ride, but we really didn't care. The song is just SO CATCHY.

I know you're gonna hate me for this but...

I HATE the Figment ride.

Let me explain why. Even thought it closed before I could experience it (my first trip was in 2002, the ride closed in 1998). I find the original Journey Into Imagination to be far superior to this Imagination Institute stuff we have now.

Don't worry...Figment and the theme song ("One Little Spark") were part of the original ride. But the original ride also had Dreamfinder, Figment's best friend. Together, the two took guests through the worlds of art, literature, theater and science, because all four of these things spark the imagination.

But if you like the current ride, I'm fine with that.

I just realized that this TR is for July 14-22 which were almost the exact dates of MY Summer WDW Holiday,July 14-21(mainly went for the Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band),so I can somewhat "relive" that week through your TR!

Isn't The Boardwalk GREAT!?!There is now way to be BORED at The BOARD walk!

Hi Kristen! I almost forgot that this was your WDW trip before your August trip. Didn't you go back and stay at Boardwalk for a split stay with your family in August?? Seeing your gorgeous photos of Boardwalk bring back some great memories - especially since we had the 1 bedroom villa AND I also had that strawberry cupcake from Boardwalk Bakery! That's not a dumb question at all! I have a lot of pins, either ones that I've traded for or gotten on Ebay that I've kept. I don't know how many exactly, but I'd guess around 150-200. The cast members will always trade with you, and you choose both the pin that you trade for and the pin that you are trading. I usually buy my trading pins on Ebay, but sometimes I buy pins at Disney that I can't trade for that I want to collect. It's a fun hobby! Vinylmation is similar, but I'm not as familiar with that.​

Chapter 4- Dory, Duffy, & DANG! Those Legs!​

July 14th, 2012​

We said goodbye to Figment and played in ImageWorks for a little bit.

Then we decided to go visit Nemo & Friends!

On the way, we saw this guy walking around in some very tiny shorts. It was...interesting.

Of course, we HAD to do The Creep!

DORY! She's my fave.

I love when I can get The Seas and Spaceship Earth in the same shot.

I also love all of the sea plants outside. So much great theming.

We said hello to Nemo, Dory and the gang, and we experienced the awesome coolness and darkness of the Nemo queue. We also went up to the viewing aquariums upstairs for a little while. Unfortunately, I did not see our Frogfish Friend, so we peaced out after a few. Then we headed back to Innoventions Plaza.

Did you know that flower is called a Bird of Paradise flower? Uhuh. Yup.

I'm actually really terrified of birds, but as long as these flowers don't start flappin' their crazy wings, it's all good.

We decided to go on Spaceship Earth next, because we were both really in the mood to watch Rome burn.

EPCOT junkies!

Once our future was created for us, (Isn't technology awesome? One less thing to worry about! AND I get a flying car. SCORE!) we headed to the Future World pin kiosk, where we traded pins and bought some too. Allie traded for a Dancing People pin! EPIC SCORE! I bought a Chip & Dale Haunted Mansion pin and a couple resort pins, and Allie bought a Tower of Terror pin.

Anyway...

Next up, we went to Mouse Gear where Al bought a Dole Whip shirt!

We also saw a whole WALL of pillow pets.

SO. MUCH. COMFY.

From there, it was time to head to World Showcase!

There were Phineas & Ferb topiaries behind the Fountain of Nations, so we just had to get a picture!

I know some people were kind of annoyed with those, but I love them!

Allie and I did notice that there was something lacking in the walk from Future World to World Showcase, and we realized that it was the "whoosh" sound of the cars going around on Test Track, because it was still under reno. Thank God it's back in 2.0 form! SO. AWESOME.

We started out on the Mexico side of things, but we saw that Duffy was out with basically no line, so we had to stop by and say hello!

He was so cute! He spent so much time with us and wrote "XO" in Allie's autograph book. He was also miming that he wanted to color with her Sharpie, and when the character attendant said no, he threw the Sharpie at her. It was PRECIOUS. Even Duffy's tantrums are adorable.

So adorable. He was so cuddly! I loved him!

Coming up, we're reunited with our spirit rides!

I had such bad luck with pin trading on my trip! SO many of the CMs had the same exact generic pins! It was disappointing However, I had good luck with Vinylmation trading and am now addicted.

Ahhh I wanted that Strawberry Cupcake so bad on my trip, but I think it's seasonal! Hopefully I'll get to try it when I visit Jess.
