WISH Away the Pounds--January 2013 challenge--Everyone Welcome!

I have always thought it was a goal such as going to Disney last year or getting ready for a wedding now, but when I really think about it, I know that it is the way I feel, physically and emotionally. When I lost 100 lbs a few years back, I still wasn't at my goal but I felt GOOD about myself and I (most of the time) liked the way I looked. I want to get back there...

Bonus: NOTHING :( Have to write a court report for work, usually takes all day... Need to try to get to Target later though and look for a few last things for DS's bday tomorrow! So I will look forward to that :woohoo:

Crossramp is basically an elliptical but its movement is slightly different (and you can control the angle) so it isolates the muscle movement more. At least that's what it feels like!

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into the Polar too! :)

Yay! Lucky you, two trips in one year! That is awesome! :goodvibes

You truly are an inspiration! :worship: Especially with all the support you give everyone here :) I really look forward to joining you!

*********************

Well I got good news on the scale this am! Lost 3 lbs this week. Guess I just needed to give my body time to show the good work I have done! Also, probably because I am really watching my carb intake, but I am not struggling as much with cravings as I have in the past. On Friday we had our usual family movie night with everyone enjoying a Costco pizza and I happily munched on my stufffed mushroom caps, really did hit the spot! And last night I had quite a few calories left over and could have easily had some low carb ice cream while the family enjoyed the ice cream cookie sandwiches I made them, but I found I didn't REALLY want it, so I didn't eat it. And I was FINE! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the nice words!

Woohoo on three pounds!

I keep meaning to try mushroom cap pizzas! Glad you enjoyed them,

********

Took a nice brisk walk, but it is really chilly out! May go out again in a bit...or maybe not;)

Over-ate the Beanitos I brought along. I should know better than to throw the whole bag into the lunch sack. I ate more than the 2Points I had planned, so I just threw the rest of the bag in the trash to avoid the temptation to finish the bag. I'm the only one who likes them, so no one will miss them. I hate wasting food, but it is better than "waist-ing" food! It is SO easy to give in to boredom eating while sitting for hours at these meets! I try hard to only pack what I should eat in the appropriate portions, but sometimes I get lazy.

I want to be healthy first

And what to feel good about the way I look second.......
Went to my god-daughters cheer competition today...that was fun :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
Way to go Lisa on your Tink race......love the bling,

Have been trying to get my fingers to move which is causing an increase in the pain in my wrist and arm :(. Hoping the swelling goes down and I can get mo use of my hand soon...tired of relying on e everyone for the simplest of things. Heading back to work tomorrow to see how that goes one armed. Should be interesting:)

Hopefully you will see increased range of motion and decreased pain and swelling with every passing day. The movement should help with the swelling.

Good luck at work! I'm sure they will be happy to have you back.

Swim is over and we are heading home! It was a good day, but crazy long time to wait for just 2 swims!

Dinner is a toss up since the day was so long and people didn't end up where they were supposed to be. DS skipped robotics, where he would have been for dinner. DH came with me instead of driving robotics car pool, and the meet lasted longer than I thought...so "whatever-you-can-find" is for dinner tonight.:rotfl:

See you tomorrow!.............P

Hello all!

I have updated the first page. So please let me know if you see anything that needs corrected. Lots of color on the first page and still lots of time in January to see progress.

Jen--Hang in there. Hopefully those fingers will be moving without pain soon.

Dinner tonight at my house: grilled cheese with arugula artichoke pesto and tomato soup. :) Still need to work on my meal plan but I am off tomorrow.

I have started typing up my marathon trip in my journal if anyone wants to read. It is not that exciting. :)

Just a note: Please feel free to continue to send in weigh ins and I will update as I get time. :)

Had a great day today. Have managed to pretty much eat on plan for the last 2 days, did have a glass of wine with dinner tonight though.

Walked 5.25 miles today around DC. Feet are killing me! Lol

Tomorrow we have to get up really early though to get good seats. But we are packing lunch so I know that will be OP as well.

Will post pics as soon as we get back.

Sounds like you are having an amazing time!

QOTD for Friday, January 18, 2013:

What's your favorite form of exercise?

Bonus QOTD: Describe yourself in 10 words or less.

I have been recently doing Jazzercise and I am really liking it again.

Wife, mom, teacher, kind, organized, coffee-a-holic, loyal, optimistic.

:wave2: Hi everyone! I am catching up for the weekend. I have tomorrow off and I am enjoying my evening knowing I can sleep in! :cool1:

I do have to say I have been very busy exercising all weekend. Yesterday I went to yoga, ran and then went ice skating with my youngest son and his friends. Today I did 2 hours of Jazzercise (one hour of body shaping). It feels good, however, even after watching what I am eating, the scale isn't moving much. I have recently had some "girl" issues taken care of and I was told it would take 3 months for things to straighten out. It better be worth all this aggravation. :faint:

Bonus: wife, mom, writer, baker, introvert and sadly lonely :(

 Hoping your loneliness gets better. I should put introvert on my description too! (Have you read the book Quiet? It is a great book about introverts!)

Have a great day everyone!

DH is totally against the trip because of college expenses coming up, but if I can do it for $1000 or less, I should be all set (already have about $800 saved). Sure, I KNOW that the money should go into the college account, but in the grand scheme of things, $1000 is a drop in the bucket and you know what... YOLO!!!::yes:: Many, many things will be changing in our lives in the coming few years. DD won't be here and I am going to miss her like crazy! This may be our last chance to do something like this for a long time! And I hate to be morbid, but let's face it... you don't live forever! I am very frugal and believe in saving for emergencies, retirement, etc., but I am not going to spend my entire life saving for "what if" and not living in the NOW! Sure this would be a splurge, but I don't think I would ever regret it.

Okay friends! Time for me to get moving. I never made it onto the website for my new job training yesterday, so that is a priority for today! Hope it isn't boring!

TTYL........................P

Pam, we splurged last year and went to Key West as a family when my oldest went to college. It was nice spending time together and I don't regret spending the money for the time we spent together. However, if you have to go into debt to do it ... I would say no, don't do it.

And you were talking about the sweater you bought and I also found a cashmere one for 35.00! I also got some casual sweaters that I can wear at school. The store I got the sweaters in is an expensive store. Even at 75% off, I couldn't afford some of their clothes (they had sweaters for 300.00!!) If it is 25.00 or less I will look at it. The 35.00 one was a splurge too!

BTW, I think I forgot to mention..... DD got a call week accepting her to her TOP CHOICE COLLEGE!! Now we just need the paperwork and hopefully they will "show me the money!" :rotfl2: Looks like she will be heading to Roger Williams University in southern Rhode Island. Still waiting to hear from 4 other schools, but this was her number one choice. Of course, it will depend on any $$ offers from the other schools, plus swim coach input. She already got one acceptance with a $16,000 offer, but it was a safety school.

Off to start lunch and proceed on with my day! My bed isn't even made yet!! TTYL.................P

That is awesome! Congrats for your daughter. Hoping they give her some kind of financial aid! Is she going to swim?

Quick check in.
We are headed to DC in the morning to see my dad drive in the Inaugural Parade!! WOOHOO!!!

So, I will either send my weight in tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

I won't be on the boards much so I will touch base with everyone when I get back on Tuesday.
PrincessNancy96 will get updates when we arrive. See my thread here if you want updates:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3049821

I hope to log some serious miles this week!

Buffy .... this is so exciting! Congrats to your dad!

I don't have too much to share tonight. I told DH that I really want to run the Tower of Terror 10 miler this year. I really wanted to run it last year, but didn't have the money. So, I was thinking of doing it this year. Except, DH reminded me that we are going to WDW next week and he still has no idea about getting a new job. He is going to apply to places while he waits to take his boards, but it's all up in the air. Then, the dreaded student loans will be arriving for repayment. So once again, I don't know if I'll be able to do it :( I guess I'm going to try to find some fun running events closer to home? I know if I sign up for a run I will train & do it. But, I would like to do more than 5ks but I'm not sure about a 1/2 marathon. Any suggestions for fun runs? I am in western PA/border of Ohio if anyone knows of any within a couple hours from me. Thanks!

I let DSs rent video games tonight since we have a three day weekend. This is a rare treat & they only got them because they each had a gift card which covered the full cost. That probably sounds mean, but we limit video games & tablet time during the school week plus it's too expensive to rent games. So I let them about once a month (or even less). They are pretty excited. We also rented Frankenweenie! I hope it's cute.

The plan for this weekend is to start packing. I have a Disney stash going right now & I just need to organize it more...like in a suitcase :lmao: I also want to get everything ready for in the parks (my purse). DS9 decided he wants to get autographs, so I used the design thread for pictures & made an autograph book on Walgreens website. I don't think I have anything else to buy, but I am going to make a menu & grocery list tonight, so if I think of anything else for the trip I can run by Walmart.

My major dilemma this trip is DS6 and a stroller. I know when we went 2 years ago, DS9 was 7 and even used the stroller a few times to sit and relax. I told DH I think we should go ahead and rent one from off site just in case, but he thinks I'm crazy & DS6 will not need a stroller. DH doesn't want to lug a stroller on the buses & spend more money. I would rather have it just in case. I have a good feeling DS will be tired with 5 days in the parks. And, since the parks close earlier, we plan to stay in the parks most of the day. Bah! Anyone have any experience with this? Advice? Thanks!

Well, I'm off to put a load of laundry away and make my menu & grocery list. So, have a great night!

Jill

Jill ... I want to run the Tower of Terror too. I am hoping that I can do it this year. My husband and I are having a contest losing weight and if I win, we can go to Disney and he has to be pleasant while he is there. :rotfl:

The stroller is a hard one. At 6 they can still get tired. But, he might be okay with breaks. Maybe just rent it if you need it?

QUESTION OF THE DAY SATURDAY JAN 19:
If someone asked you what your secret to consistent weight loss is, what would you tell them?

Bonus QOTD: Who's going to Disney this year???

Mine would be watching the food you eat. It is shocking how many calories simple treats are and how long I would have to run in order to make up for something I eat.

I am hoping to go to Disney. If I don't make it this year, we are definitely going to Universal the summer of 2014. I have never been there and we would like to tour that park. Maybe we will stop over at Disney for a day or two!

Question of the day: Sunday, January 19

What inspires or pushes you to lose weight? Is it health problems, your kids, other's success, etc?

Bonus QOTD: What will you do for fun today?

I really want to feel better and like the way I look in the mirror. I also was thinking on Saturday when I was running how easier my run might be if I was not carrying the extra weight with me. When I pick up a big bag of potatoes in the grocery store, I imagine running carrying this ... and think, this is what I am carrying (and a bit more) with me everyday.

Bonus: I caught up with you guys :cool1: and looked for some places to rent for our summer vacation. We might go to VA Beach. Has anyone been there before?

Hi everyone! I jsut looked at the first page and loved seeing my name in green! :goodvibes However, the challenge is not over yet, so I better keep being good as I don't want to fall back to another colour!!! :scared1:

I was away this weekend, volunteering for the exchange organization I went to Denmark with. I was in charge of selection interviews for applicants who want to go abroad next school year. It is always fascinating to meet all these different motivated young people (they are between 14 and 17). However, it also means a very full day with very little time for eating. I tried to be good and brought lots of healthy snacks, but still think that I did snack a little bit too much of the healthy stuff anyway. But today is a new day, so back to tracking! I am very grateful for this thread popping up in my subscribed threads here on the DIS to motivate me to get back on track!

Hello all!

Dinner tonight at my house: grilled cheese with arugula artichoke pesto and tomato soup. :) Still need to work on my meal plan but I am off tomorrow.

Grilled cheese (my fave!) with arugula artichoke pesto?!? I think I just died and woke up in cheese heaven! OMG that sounds yummy!!! :cloud9:

I'm glad to say that even though I've only been weighing in every other week (until now!) that I lost the 1.8 I gained at my last weigh-in two weeks ago. I'm sure that even though I tend to party-hearty on the weekends :woohoo:(points? what points?:rolleyes1), plugging away at 9 miles yesterday probably helped a little. After reading through all the inspirational posts here, and feeling all the "weight-loss love", even though I'm going away for the next two weekends (Key Largo Seafood Festival  then DISNEY!!!!:dance3::woohoo:pixiedust: knowing that I have to be accountable to not only to myself, but to the goals here, I'll at least try to be good . Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and suggestions, they are worth more than you know!! :thanks:

Bonus: I caught up with you guys and looked for some places to rent for our summer vacation. We might go to VA Beach. Has anyone been there before?
Hi Mary Poppins - We went to VA Beach a couple of years ago, not my favorite place by far. VERYtouristy. Young kids driving there cars up and down the strip all day! Very crowded, not a lot to do. Just my opinion though.

Oh I've been away too long. I have such a hard time on here I feel like I don't have enough time to take care of me let alone make time to check in here. But when I do and see all the sweet responses that someone took the TIME to do on here makes me like a slacker because I know all of you are busy too. Honestly I very impressed by all the personal feedback on here!

I had a tiny half pound loss but considering the amount of eating out I have to be happy with that. This week is no better. I went to an all day crop yesterday and you know those are bad w food. Someone made turtles w those pretzels rolos and nuts and I popped so many if things in my mouth over the course of the day :(

Tonight is girls night for a friends birthday, going out to lunch this afternoon since I'm taking the kids out the science museum, dinner out tomorrow night w another set of friends! Thursday night is kids activities so we have to eat out that night too. I need to do some major planning. Plus I think Tom might be showing up by weeks end and the cravings and tossing will power out the window tends to happen for me!

We got a vitamix juicer this month and I love it and think it helped jump start my loss but all this eating out and no exercise this week is going to be a challenge.

Not sure how to do it but I guess one meal at a time and try to keep my focus. We have a big trip to Canada planned in August and that's what my goal date is. I thought I might just look at some trip photos on my phone before going and while I'm looking at the menu :).

Well I better get up and going to get my treadmill in!!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Dinner sounds yummy. DD loves grilled cheese with pesto.

I've been reading your trip report. It makes me sad that you were SO stressed about the WISH meet the day before, but I can totally relate. I am TERRIBLE at meeting new people! But I'm so proud of you for finishing the race, even though you were in pain.

Sounds like an interesting weekend!

It is hard to remember that healthy stuff has calories too! I have to remind myself of that with things like nuts and fruit. Even though it might be good for me, too much of a good thing isn't a good idea!!!

Weekends are hard. I tend to want to splurge often as well. But if I think hard and plan ahead and really PLAN what I want the scale to look like come Monday morning, it usually makes it a bit easier to make the RIGHT choices on Saturday and Sunday.

If I am dying for a splurge, I will plan one splurge meal over the weekend.... something indulgent plus a dessert... and that is it. Sometimes my splurge is not a meal but a BIG snack (movie theater popcorn and peanut butter M&M's don't count as a meal, right???:lmao: ). I plan it, look forward to it, count it (as best I can anyhow), journal it, eat it, and MOVE ON to my next OP meal! I try not to linger "out of the wagon" too long!!

Oh I've been away too long. I have such a hard time on here I feel like I don't have enough time to take care of me let alone make time to check in here. But when I do and see all the sweet responses that someone took the TIME to do on here makes me like a slacker because I know all of you are busy too. Don't feel too bad! We are busy all and pop on whenever we can and miss it when we can't. That is part of life! Just remember we are here whenever you need us!

I had a tiny half pound loss but considering the amount of eating out I have to be happy with that. This week is no better. I went to an all day crop yesterday and you know those are bad w food. Yum, but :scared1: Those are the types of things that I can't have anywhere near me!! But good job on the 1/2 pound!

Thursday night is kids activities so we have to eat out that night too. I need to do some major planning. Could you pack a healthy, OP meal for yourself for any of these events? I have been known to bring my own foods to many places.

We got a vitamix juicer this month and I love it and think it helped jump start my loss but all this eating out and no exercise this week is going to be a challenge.

I love our juicer too, but have to be careful about the amount of sugar I end up consuming with veggie/fruit juice. Plus I've never been one who is content with just a drink, no matter how substantial it is. I always want to CHEW something. That said, I feel SO GOOD and HEALTHY when I am juicing more frequently!

Not sure how to do it but I guess one meal at a time and try to keep my focus. We have a big trip to Canada planned in August and that's what my goal date is. I thought I might just look at some trip photos on my phone before going and while I'm looking at the menu :).

Have a great day everyone!!

Enjoy your treadmill time!

Happy Monday, Happy MLK day, Happy stay-at-home day for some of you, Happy no-school day for other, and Happy Inauguration day to the rest!

I LOVE today so far! Before 7 am I had already done over 4 miles on the TM, done a great stretch with some yoga moves thrown in, gassed up my car (even though I wasn't on fumes yet :thumbsup2) and was ready to rock the day!!

I came home from the Y and made a great healthy breakfast (egg white omelet with onions, peppers, spinach and a bit of light provolone cheese, plus a banana Vitamuffin), fed DD, checked email, texted a friend about lunch plans, and now I'm ready to hit the shower and help DS organize his binders so he can STUDY today!!

Savers thrift store is having 50% off all clothing today, so while DD is practicing with her other team tonight, I am going to try and hit the store and find a few necessities (black pants, navy pants, navy cardigan). I'm not holding out much hope, as I have already tried this store a few times, but I know they put new stuff out every day. Just hope it isn't crazy crowded!

Dinner is a fancy pork roast. I meant to put it in the freezer and save it for a special day, but I forgot and it is still in the fridge.... and since I have nothing defrosted for tonight, pork roast it is! :thumbsup2 I'll chop up some potatoes to roast for the kids, make some roasted green beans, and a small salad and we will be LIVING tonight! ...... oh, wait a minute. If DS is going to robotics, that throws a wrench in the works.:headache: Gotta ask him if he has a meeting tonight. Maybe I will need to throw the roast in the freezer after all.

Time to make sure DS is up and moving, throw in a load of laundry, make the beds, and take a shower. Meeting friends for lunch  at 1pm in town, so will be leaving here at 12:15 and not returning until after evening practice. (BTW, I haven't met a friend for lunch in about 10+ years, so I am SUPER excited!! I just don't have any social life!)

TTYL.................P

Sounds like a good weekend for you too. You are doing great with your weight loss. A day of extra calories is not the end of the world and sometimes even helps a little. I like your get back on track attitude! :)

Grilled cheese (my fave!) with arugula artichoke pesto?!? I think I just died and woke up in cheese heaven! OMG that sounds yummy!!! :cloud9:
It was so good and so easy to make! We have enough pesto left over that I am going to roast some veggies and make some pasta tomorrow and have a pasta/pesto/veggie dinner. The pesto called for a bunch of olive oil, but I only put enough in to make it smooth. And I used a small amount of olive oil on the bread instead of butter for the grilled cheese.

I've been reading your trip report. It makes me sad that you were SO stressed about the WISH meet the day before, but I can totally relate. I am TERRIBLE at meeting new people! But I'm so proud of you for finishing the race, even though you were in pain.
Don't be sad. I thought about not even talking about it, but decided I CAN'T be the only person who gets so stressed out. Finishing the race was the biggest relief and I really enjoyed seeing everyone on Monday morning--even though I was still a little anxious. I don't think I used to be such an introvert, but I definitely am now. :) I am going to talk to my doctor next time I see her and see if she has any thoughts on my back. In the back of my head I keep wondering if something is going on there that might be related to all the other problems I had a year or so ago. All this back stuff is new for me.

I hope everyone has a great Monday. Mike and I are going to the gym this afternoon since we both have off and I still need to finish meal planning. There are 5 pms in my inbox which I will try to get to today. :)

Question of the day: Monday, January 21st

Post a favorite low cal recipe.

:)

Today is most definitely a Monday...UGH.

I've got a good recipe to post, but I'll have to access my files and come back to put it up. :)

Thank you SO much for your thoughts. When I looked at pictures I was also thinking the same thing. Our problem is our teenage boys want "something to do" other than relaxing on the beach all day (what is wrong with them?!:confused3). We have vacationed in Stone Harbor, Sea Isle City NJ, Hilton Head and the Outerbanks. We are trying to find another place (just to try something different) by the beach that would have a boardwalk or small town atmosphere for my teenagers. Does anyone else have a suggestion? We don't want more than a 8 - 10 hour drive to get there ...

Well .... off to get my run in. It is chilly out there today. Tomorrow is suppose to be very cold so if I run today, I am giving myself the day off tomorrow. I received a spa gift certificate from my husband and I am getting an hour long facial after school .... aaaaahhhhh. See you later today!

Question of the day: Monday, January 21st

Post a favorite low cal recipe.

:)

Today is most definitely a Monday...UGH.

I've got a good recipe to post, but I'll have to access my files and come back to put it up. :)

I just made a marinade for boneless chicken breasts.

4 TBS olive oil
4 TBS soy sauce
1 TBS brown sugar
2 TBS fresh lemon juice
3 whole cloves
2 minced garlic cloves
1 tsp thyme or basil

Mix marinade together and place over 4-6 boneless chicken breasts. Marinade overnight. Then grill.

I am not sure how many calories this is, however, I use the thinly sliced chicken breasts at Sam's Club and everything except the brown sugar is relatively low cal. This is a favorite in our house. (Pam, sorry it is a chicken recipe. I know your son is allergic to chicken. Our house wouldn't survive if we didn't have chicken. It is usually something everyone agrees on!)

I KNEW something was missing from my previous post! Somehow this didn't multi-quote....sorry!

:wave2: Hi everyone! I am catching up for the weekend. I have tomorrow off and I am enjoying my evening knowing I can sleep in! :cool1:

WOOHOO for a day off!

:faint:

Hopefully it will be worth it in the long run!

Pam, we splurged last year and went to Key West as a family when my oldest went to college. It was nice spending time together and I don't regret spending the money for the time we spent together. However, if you have to go into debt to do it ... I would say no, don't do it.

Nope, not "regular" debt. I don't take a vacation unless I pay for it, cash up front. But of course, there will be college debt. But as I said, I doubt that the $1000 that this trip will cost would change that either way.

Yeah for a non-edible splurge!!

That is awesome! Congrats for your daughter. Hoping they give her some kind of financial aid! Is she going to swim?

Thanks! She definitely plans to swim, although the new coach has some pretty stringent cut times for walk-ons. That being said, we have been somewhat following the swim season at this college and NONE of the swims we are seeing actually match or exceed the cut times. We are thinking that the coach is trying to find a way to make the team more competitive for the future. It would be heartbreaking for her to get to school and NOT get on the swim team, but I would hate to see her pass on attending this wonderful school just because she "might not" make the team.

Fingers crossed for LOTS of financial aid!

Mine would be watching the food you eat. It is shocking how many calories simple treats are and how long I would have to run in order to make up for something I eat.

I need to look up the menu from today's lunch restaurant. I usually "wing it" at this particular place, but need to double check.

I am hoping to go to Disney. If I don't make it this year, we are definitely going to Universal the summer of 2014. I have never been there and we would like to tour that park. Maybe we will stop over at Disney for a day or two!

It is CRAZY when you start thinking about it that way. I always like the BL final challenge when the contestants have to "put back on" the weight they lost and run with it. It is a REAL eye opener as to what life was like for them not that long ago!

Bonus: I caught up with you guys :cool1: and looked for some places to rent for our summer vacation. We might go to VA Beach. Has anyone been there before?

Never been.... sorry.

I started making my grilled cheese for the family with EVOO a few years ago and no one has complained!

Good idea to get it double checked. Have you ever seen a chiropractor?? I am totally a chiropractic convert recently!

I am anxious when meeting new folks (even folks that I've "known" online for a long time). I can totally psych myself out, but I am trying SO HARD to get past that. I was so nervous the day I was going to meet Buffy in 2011 at Disney, I thought I might throw up..... but you know what? She is TOTALLY GREAT and fun and it was like meeting up with an old friend!! I hope you and I can laugh about this TOGETHER IN PERSON some day!::yes::

I hope everyone has a great Monday. Mike and I are going to the gym this afternoon since we both have off and I still need to finish meal planning. There are 5 pms in my inbox which I will try to get to today. :)

I have been totally slacking on my meal planning lately too. I got half of last week planned and then weather issues and such changed the plan.... and that plan is still on the fridge. Already today's plan has changed, as DS has robotics that I wasn't sure about (because of the MLK holiday). oh well.

Enjoy your gym time!

I've gotta say, my BEST recipes are already on the BL Healthy and Easy Dinner thread! I guess I need to go find a new one!

Okay.... I was searching for something I hadn't already posted here previously .... so here is something different. Not a meal, but a "treat" recipe. And I won't go so far as to claim it is a "favorite" as I've only made it a few times.... but it is tasty!

Skinny Vanilla Mocha Frappe

1 heaping tsp. instant coffee

1 1/2 C water

1/2 C skim milk (or soy or almond milk)

3 tsp. vanilla extract

1 tsp. cocoa powder

1 packet of stevia or 1 Tb. of sugar (to taste)

In a cup mix coffee and water and stir until combined. Place in a shallow container or ice cube tray, cover, and freeze for 4 hours or overnight.

Once coffee is frozen, place in a blender with the milk, vanilla, stevia, and cocoa powder. Blend until combined.

Notes: You can make a strong cup of regular coffee and freeze that instead of the instant.... just be sure to use 1.5 C.

NI: (presuming this is the breakdown using dairy milk and stevia)

Calories: 43.3, Fat: 0, Sodium: 65, Carbs: 7, Sugar: 6, Protein: 4.2

I think DD found this somewhere on Pinterest, so I can't give credit at the moment. And it is a killer on your blender if it isn't a strong one, so let it sit out to "thaw" a bit if you need to!

As a back up, since this isn't a meal, here is a link to one of my absolute favorite healthy low-cal meals that I have posted over on the BL dinner thread!!

Look for the recipe for "Heidi's Curried Chicken" (post #21). Don't let the veggies scare you away (if you aren't a fan of those veggies). They cook down a lot and you really can't differentiate them.

Off for now! ....................P

:thanks:

We definitely have the weight loss love here :cloud9: Keeps me motivated too! Sounds like you have some awesome plans coming up! Enjoy yourself!

Happy Monday, Happy MLK day, Happy stay-at-home day for some of you, Happy no-school day for other, and Happy Inauguration day to the rest!

And happy 12th birthday to my baby boy! :cake: DF and I did all his chores for him today, he got to have a cinnamon roll for breakfast (NEVER happens otherwise), and he is now contently playing the Xbox (which is usually restricted to 2 hours total)! Can't believe my baby is growing up! Later we will have family and friends over for dinner/cake/presents, so guess I gotta get going and get things ready!

I continue to marvel at your drive, I am lucky to have rolled out of bed and made breakfast by 7! :rotfl: Have a great time at lunch! Love getting together with old friends! In fact have a nail appt tomorrow with one of my favs :)

Hmm, I will have to think about this one... and maybe get some input from the fam on what they enjoy most...

:wave2:

Day off of work today but no time to read right now. Have a "squishing" appointment in about an hour and a half. I have made the completely impulsive decision to go and buy a Fitbit One. Looks like they have them at Best Buy which is on my way to my appt. Usually I discuss these things with DH and get his rational engineering brain opinion but I figure I can go buy it now, leave it in the package and let him look at it/research it and then when he says it looks good I will already have it!! :teeth: Otherwise it would be next weekend before I could go pick it up.

Need to work on menu and shopping list at some point. Have the next 3 days planned and need to make lunches.

Have to run and eat some lunch before I go. Hope I can catch up when I get back!
