Port Orleans Riverside FAQ thread --- 2012, Part Three --- NOW FULL / CLOSED

Someone on my site mentioned the dates 7-Jan-2013 to 1-Feb 2013 for waterslide closure at POR, but I've not heard anything more about it, nor anything from folks who are there now.

Could anyone onsite at the moment check for us maybe?

Andre

I have heard this also Andre.

I think you'll be fine - as you say, you're at Disney!!! We've done three adults and one 12 year-old in a new AB room with no problems (other than working out where clothes were going to be stored). As long as you all get along OK I think you'll do fine.

Try to work out a shower schedule so you don't all want a shower right before you set off in the morning - maybe some of you plans for evenings and some for mornings? The double sinks are really helpful too when getting ready.

Looks like our visits overlap, we'll be there 16-25 Feb so I'll check up on you! :)

Andre

Oh that's neat!! I'll make sure to wave hello if we see you:)
Fingers crossed for decent weather:)

OK, I did a bit of hunting, and here's the info on the Riverside pools for January:

The Ol’ Man Island swimming pool slide at Port Orleans Riverside will be closed from 7th January until 1st February 2013. The pool itself will remain open as normal though, it is only the slide that is undergoing maintenance. The Port Orleans French Quarter pool and slide will be fully open during this time though, and guests from Riverside are always welcome to use it.

Also, Alligator Bayou quiet pool #2 (the pool located near to buildings 24-28) will also be closed for maintenance work from 23rd January until 26th January 2013. Both of the other quiet pools in the Alligator Bayou area, along with three other pools at the resort, will remain open as normal during this period.

50 days until we arrive - woohoo!! I miss POR!

Although I'm a bit nervous - the number our travel agent gave us isn't a Disney confirmation number, and when I phone WDW to try to get an actual confirmation number (3 separate times) they can't pull up our reservation using our names, address, arrival date or anything :worried:

We didn't receive our Disney number until we were around 30 days (35 maybe)

Good morning!

Quick question...I'm thinking of upgrading our room from a RGR with a GV to a RGR with a river view. My question is this. Would those RV rooms be able to look across to the main building and double water tower? Or are those obscured by greenery/trees? I think it would be lovely to see both the river and the main building all lit up.
Thanks!

Hi everyone on this great thread with love for Port Orleans Riverside!

I just wanted to first say thanks to Vernomhatch for assisting everyone with their room requests, Andre for taking the time to answer questions and run a fabulous site, and everyone else on this thread that have taken the time to answer questions.

Our trip is from Feb 2-8, so only 2 more weeks to go!!!

I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with Amazon shipping to Port Orleans?

When I have used a travel agent they have the reservation number and you aren't allowed to call Disney and get info or change anything. The reservation is likely in your agents name or under their agency. So the number you have is your file number with the agency, and they will provide you all the info and documents once they are sent to the agency.

It makes sense because that way people can't get an agent to do all the work and then take the reservation over and the agent doesn't get their commission etc.
I would call your agent and tell her/him your concerns and they will explain it to you I am sure.:)

In the past, documents were sent around 40 or 45 days out to my agent and then she mailed them to me or I went to pick them up when she called so you should have them soon.

Mine is booked through a TA and I have mine visible in my Disney experience site. I can see everything, you just can't modify the resort package or park tickets without talking to TA. Yeah they are down to 30 or even down to a week and a half before arrival for Mickey mail.

We are booked for our first trip to POR Riverside in April for my 40th birthday! We are so excited. We stayed at All Star Movies last year and I really looking forward to trying something new. This resort looks fantastic. :)

I've had it both ways. Once I could see it on the website, another time nothing. I suspect the OP won't be able to see it on the website anyway because we don't have the My Disney Experience website in Canada yet. Most days our website hasn't been working at all. I can't pull up my dining reservations no matter what I do.

Probably a good idea to call the agent and ask about it if Disney isn't giving you any info OP:)

Email your TA and ask for your actual confirmation number and explain why you need it (To access My Disney Experience). Disney can't give it to you because its the TA's reservation (I know, its strange, but that is how it works).

FWIW, I had a terrible time getting my TA ressie to link to the website at first. I believe she made a phone call on my behalf to get it linked.

Can some tell me or point me in the direction of the exact bus routes between POR and FQ. We don't mind the walk and will have a stroller for our 4 year old, so would prefer to walk to the very first stop, fold up the stroller, get on with the first wave, get to the back and not be in anyone's way.

Thanks, that is great! I have been all over that website but somehow missed that page.

Our main concern is that we have an 8:05 ADR at the Castle one morning and even if the buses stat running at 7:30 (stated that they start 30 minutes before the first ADR) that is not going to get us there in time. We will have a car but not sure with the parking and transfering at TTC we will get there on time. We are thinking of taking a cab to the Contemporary and walking over from there.

I guess we could leave the resort at 7am, would that give us plenty of time at TTC?

Next question: Looking at Google maps, if staying in Parterre, it looks like the walking distance between POR pool and POFQ pool is about the same. Anyone care to weigh in?

Hello all! We've never stayed at POR before and I have a quick question. We have a reservation for Cinderella's Royal Table at 9:10am. What time does everyone think we should catch a bus? I know the resort is huge and makes multiple stops around the property, so I want to make sure we allow plenty of time. We'll likely be in the alligator bayou section because we are a party of 6, if that matters in the timing.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We are always at the bus stop at 7am (or a couple minutes before) for our 8:05am ADR's at MK and haven't been late yet (no matter which resort we stay at).

As for the pool questions, I will let someone else more familiar answer (but my gut says POR pool would still be closer since you have to cross the bridge no matter which pool you are going to).
