A Magical 4 night Cruise- 4/12/2013

My family is going on this cruise. I am interested in FE too. This is our first Disney Cruise and we are very excited. I will be sailing with my DH, DS 5, DS 3, DD 3m, and my parents am brother's family.

Hi! We just booked and we are so excited! This will be our first Disney Cruise. It will be me, DH, DS (6), DD (4) and my sweet parents (66 & 69). We would love to do FE so please let me know if anyone is going to participate.

We are super excited! This is going to be our first cruise. We are a family of 4, DH, DS (6) & DS (1.5).
I've been reading a lot of blogs (yes, I'm a newbie and don't know what to expect).
Do you have any tips to share with me?! I can't wait for April!

I updated posts 3 & 4. Post 3 has a list of all us DISer's on the cruise and post 4 has a list of those interested in the Fish Extender group.

:cool1:

Thanks girl!
I'm extremely excited about this... Just read about the fish exchange. I was clueless.
Can you explain me what's what we need to take? Yes, the newbie talking :/
Price rate? Etc
:cool1:

Thanks for starting the FE list! I have participated in three of these and will be doing another in a week. I could do the google document if you wanted.

Also, we have three, 4 year olds :)

Woo Hoo!!! Good to see more people starting to show up on the board! WELCOME!!!!!

I would be interested in the FE too... I think it would be cool especially with the little ones that will be cruising!

This is our first Disney cruise as well, so whatever info you have to share on the FE would be extremely helpful. I'd been reading feverishly on what to expect during the cruise, but hadn't come across any real guidelines on how the FE works. Like, do we exchange room numbers ahead of time? At what point do you drop off gifts to participants? All I've seen are a bunch of pics of the super-cute extenders that people make/use.

Also, I didn't know until yesterday that there is a pirate night!! How awesome! I can't wait! :cool1:

Yeah! I was planning on feverishly studying up on FE's this weeknd. I would love any and all help on this because I have never done one and only have a basic knowlege of how it works.

Oh and how funny! I was trying to give you another kid and take them all back a year in age.

So excited! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I just booked my cruise activities.

Day 2 - Palo at 6PM. I think this will be perfect for sunset.

Day 3 - We decided to book the Mayan Ruins & Beach Tour; I think my DH was a little disappointed that I said no to the ATV's but I just don't think it was the best for our group this time.

Day 4 - Palo Brunch at 10 AM.

I am planning on getting either a week long Rain Forest pass or most likely two of the couples passes on board depending on how interested the others are. Also, us girls may do manicures not sure and it won't bother me to much if it doesn't work out.

I want this to be leisurely so I am trying not to over plan. Pretty tough on my part. :)

We are super excited about this cruise. This will be our first cruise. It will be me (Maymie) my DH (Shannon), DS11, DD10, and DS7. We also have some family cruising with us including a nephew age 5! We would like to do the FE. But may need some guidance on the logistics...
Any tips for first time cruisers would be great! Can't wait til April!

Hello Everyone!

My kids and I will be taking or first ever cruise. I'm a single Mom traveling with my DS-8, DS-5, and DD-4. I am very excited and can't wait! The trip will be a suprise for my kiddos!

What is an FE?

Any advice you can share about cruising in general or this Cruise specifically would be much appreciated.

Sherrie

I am also really excited about this cruise, even more so now that we have such an awesome group shaping up.

I will try to post a few things about Fish Extenders this morning.

You know I am a little jealous of everyone. My kids are almost all grown. I remember that the young ones really keep you on your toes and busy but when they are young they are so sweet and loving.

My DD (16) has finally got back to being my sweet daughter. We had a few years in there were she was a little moody. We also when through about a year of the all black phase. Dark hair, skinny jeans, medal studs on clothes. I went with it because I did the same thing at that age. :scared1: I figured she'd get tired of it and out grow that phase and sure enough she did after about 6 months. Of course there was never any bad behavior just a fashion statement. Bad behavior would have been a different story all together.

Of course now we have 3 grandbabies ages 2, 1.5, and 3 months. There so fun to play with. I just wish I could talk their parents into going on this cruise with us. :scratchin

Beside the doors on the Disney Cruise is a Fish shaped clip that is used to clip the days Navigators and other information to.

Many DISer's join fish extender groups which exchange small presents with other members sailing on their cruise. In order to leave the gifts members of the group attach a fish extender to their Fish. Here is a picture in post 2:

Your fish extender can be as elaborat or simple as you want. Some people make theirs creating their own designs. Some people buy them off Etsy. And some people just use simple items like decorated gifts bags attached to the fish.

As far as the actual exchange maybe nancyelew can give us some more information as she has actually particpated in them before. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if we are doing the FE (crazy here) but we are extremely excited about the activities and my kids meeting others!
Please post any tips for us newbies :)

Thanks DallasTxCpA for all your help!

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone.

Did a little research, and an definately interested in doing the FE, sound like fun.

I and my oldest son have a passport from our trip to Belize last summer, but do i need to get one for my younger children for Cozumel?

You will need a passport or birth certificate. However, if there are any emergencies and you need to fly back to the US, you will have to have a passport to get back.

I just found a web page called Fish Extender 101 -- and I can't post it because I haven't made more than 10 posts yet.... blah!!:rolleyes2 I suppose I'll go make a couple of posts elsewhere on the boards lol

OMG how do people manage it when there are like hundreds of people that are participating?
