I know someone here will know the answer to this.:goodvibes...what time does the pool close at night in May?? Also, does just the slide close or the whole pool? I just read this on another thread.:confused3

Hours change according to the season. Right now I believe SAB closes at 8. MickeyT, can you verify when you get there??

Hi Teena, I have a few quick questions for you. We're coming down next week (meeting you is definitely on our list of must dos) and, even though Accuweather is showing cooler temps, we're bring our suits. :scared: If SAB is "closed," does that mean the entire complex is closed to guests, or, like at the Poly, does it mean the slides are closed and it is swim at your own risk (re: no life guards)? And, if it is closed, does that include the hot tubs?

Thanks.

Jesse

Hi Jesse,
Looks like I'm going to miss you unless you are around on 1/27. I leave on a 14 night cruise this Saturday.
Stormalong Bay is so large that it is classified as a water park. Therefore, it is entirely closed and locked up unless there are lifeguards on duty. I believe right now the pool (or water park) closes at 8 PM.
Keep in mind we have three normal pools. One by the BCV, one by the BC and one by the YC. They are open all the time and have hot tubs too. No lifeguards at any time. No matter which resort you stay at, you are allowed in any of those three pools. I love the pool at BCV!!
Have a wonderful stay and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it is warm enough to use SAB. Yesterday was in the mid-80's. Hot and humid in January!

Teena,
Thank you for this valuable information. Being first time YC folk - i was wondering the same thing. We love swimming at night even in January and at Poly this was never a problem since just the volcano slide closed. I'm glad there are 3 other pool options outside of SAB so we can still get our fix!
16 days to go

We will be staying at the Beach Club!

Just received our confirmation for our stay 8/26 through 9/2. There will be four of us: me, DH, DD (12), DS (7).

It's safe to say I am ridiculously excited. We have never stayed at the Beach Club before and I am really looking forward to the new experience. Plus, the ability to walk to EPCOT is just wonderful. And my kids will go crazy for Stormalong Bay.

I had two quick questions: First, how far is the walk to the Boardwalk from the Beach Club? I think there is a bridge?, but most of the maps I have looked at are not quite clear about it. Second, are there any dining options at the Beach Club that in your opinion we should not miss?

It is approximately a five to ten minute walk from the BC to the middle of the Boardwalk. You walk over a bridge to get there. It is a lovely walk and one of our favorite parts of staying in the Epcot resort area.

Don't miss Cape May for either the character breakfast or for the buffet dinner. It is one of our "must-do's" every trip. :) In fact, we often do both.

Thank you! I was hoping to go walking along the Boardwalk one evening, so I will definitely work that into our plans.

I will take a look at Cape May too. Our booking window is going to be here before we know it. :)

See you on the high seas. We'll be leaving on the Celebrity Eclipse which sets sail on Saturday.

Hello.... A few years ago I remember seeing a map that showed the BC floors and had room numbers/categories. I know it's out of date, but I'd love to have a peek to see what the views from different room categories would really be. (May do standard as opposed to lagoon). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

All standard, garden and lagoon view club level rooms are on the fifth floor only. Some suites and deluxe CL rooms are on first, second, third and fourth floors.

Thanks Teena-I knew you would have the answer. Enjoy your cruise!!!!

Its not that I hate the Contemporary area or anything. We do like it here. We did grow fond of BLTs as the week went on. Just like BC there are a ton of good restaurants on site or within 10 minutes. Just like the BC you can walk to a park. Just like the BC the lobby can get a little loud sometimes. Just like the BC the CMs are great. Just figured out what I miss most about the Y&BC. The grounds. The ambience. The lobby. The theming.

Most WDW regulars have their favorite resort and ours is BC. And we are finally heading that way.

Yesterday we started slow. Sat on the balcony at BLT, drank coffee and watched Bay Lake come to life. Love watching the boats at WDW. People coming. People going.

Late morning we headed over to MK again. Took the camera and just strolled. We watched an abbreviated version of the Dream Along with Mickey stage show in front of the castle. It was misting rain and they shortened it for the characters safety. Rode the HM and then just people watched for a while. We then did a quick decision to try the BOG table service lunch. It took us around 25 minutes to get in. We split a sandwich and a soup and were more than full. Beautiful building/theming. We had FPs for the new Under The Sea ride but surprise, surprise it was down. As was Story Time with Belle. Either it is one of those things where it is a luck of the draw thing and we just happen to show up as all these attractions break down or the parks are having a lot of maintenance issues right now. After this we decided to go ride old reliable. The People Mover. Grabbed a favorite, the cream cheese pretzel and claimed a great spot on Main Street for the 3 oclock parade. Headed back over to the room and finally did our swim. A little cold getting in (as it is in July) but we managed ok. Stayed in the pool about an hour.

I then did a resort walk around with my camera. Some ok shots. Still learning. We then had dinner at California Grill. Window seat to watch Wishes. Unbelievable food and service. It is going down in three weeks for an extensive rehab (heard six months). Hopefully it will be as good or better when it returns.

So time to pack again. Like Ive said before. Lee is a pro. Sister #1 arrives @ 11 so I doubt our BCV room will be ready. # 2 will be in around 3. They are arriving on ME so we will get a touch down to arrival time. Our current plans are to head over to HS and have an early dinner at Sci-Fi. And pictures. Maybe now I can take some resort pictures I can post (been kinda hesitant to post CR photos on Y&BC thread :)). Well off to balcony to watch last sunrise on Bay Lake&&It has been fun.

We'd love to see anything you shoot, except for the 'gators in the lake at BCV! I love the fact that you are taking it easy after Pierce left. It sounds so heavenly just sitting on the balcony enjoying coffee as the boats come and go. I am definitely putting this on my bucket list. I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary (MK view) since I was a kid but it just hasn't happened (Yet!).

Our crappy little point and shoot died this summer and with the way the boys put up a fuss about having their pictures taken I decided it wasn't worth the battle to even try Photopass. I didn't want the photographer to have to look at all the "You are taking my picture" snarls I would get. The cell phone camera was a disaster too so I am having buyers remorse at the lack of pictures.

Take LOTS of pictures and drink lots of coffee on the balcony! And thanks for the great updates!!

:grouphug:

PS. Do you have any recommendations for a good camera in the $400 and under range? I think I'll get better pictures if I start thinking about leaving the boys home on these Disney trips!

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. We always order water to be shipped to our room. Last year, we stayed at POR the first night then moved to BC so we just had the water sent to POR and brought it with us to BC the next day. We ordered it from Staples and apparently in Orlando, they just courier it to the hotel. If I order from Staples this year and have it sent to BC and they courier it again, will I still get charged the convention center fee or will the courier deliver it to the hotel?

This will be my first time using a pincode (awesome) and going to yc. We had dinner at yachtsmen last time when we saw pool, my husband (who wanted monorail resort) said " I could stay here!" A couple questions to teena s or anyone elsr...we ate going the middle of September and I know that's a slow time (that's why we're going then) and they could be working on sab. I only care about the deeper lazy river portion of pool but would anyone know whether that would be due for rehab then? If they do rehab it, could I reschedule my vacation or get my money back for a package or switch to swan/dolphin? I just want ti know my options when I pull trigger and pay for it tomorrow.one other thing...how much notice would I get if they were going to close that portion? This is a great thread thank you.
