MyMagic + Officially Announced

I was referring to the specific, misleading statement in the article and not the position of the OP's post. :thumbsup2

Lol, Thats just great that its in there own post.

The end result is the same I guess.

Depending on the tages they use there is a bit of usable storage but I would be very surprised if they use the tags as anything but an ID.

I think there are so many possibilities that this could be a very good thing.

I imagine being in the parks and getting hungry. Instead of getting in line at Peco's Bills I pull out my phone, load up the disney experience app, place my food order. Then I walk into the restaurant and find a vacant table. Because there is a RFID reader in the table, disney now knows who I am, what I ordered, and within minutes of sitting down like magic someone brings me my food. AMAZING. Now, if they can bring me the fixin's bar my meal would be complete.

So basically the lunch process at Be Our Guest... hmmm... Guests would be able to get their food quite quickly that way.

This has peaked my interest. I think there will be good and bad that goes along with it. As Disney sees the problems that arise, they will simply tweak it...as they do with everything else. I am very interested to see what does come out of this. I think they have more up their sleeve than just pre planning fastpasses.

Yes, exactly like be our guest minus going to the ordering kiosk. Families would not have to split up. Would not have to drag your kids to the line.

It has its benefits for sure.

I am waiting to see how this works out. I am concerned.

I am one of the few who does not have a smartphone. I might have to invest in an ipod touch to avoid the data packages and still have the apps.

Will TSM become the ride version of Le Cellier? Even now with FPs open to everyone, it is tough to get one now.

I will be waiting for the first visitor who doesn't get it, standing there screaming expletives and banging the band against the reader.

:3dglasses

No where in any of Disney's press releases did the company state you are forced to use the MagicBand. The program is optional, not mandatory. In fact, as mentioned in an earlier post of mine, Disney said you can use it as much or little as you want to

Yeah, I get that. It just worries me because along the same lines as people making their dining reservations so early...sure you don't have to make any ADRs but you will probably end up getting stuck eating all counter service with no other options. I am trying not to be too negative till I see this working and have all the details, but none of the information about it so far is making me look forward to it coming.

The first (and only) thing I thought of when I heard about the wristbands was what I posted to Pete's wall on Facebook when asked my opinion:

If the wristbands are more comfortable to wear than the Food and Wine Festival gift card wristbands, I'm all for it! :rotfl2: I'm so predictable that I immediately thought of the Festival benefits from this.

Seriously. They changed the bands to a rubber band this year. Kind of constricting. And I've already played with the "tap to pay" system. I was a guinea pig for the resort ID tap to pay at Beach Club a few weeks ago. I set up a PIN for any purchases over $50. The cashier at MouseGear had to take a few seconds to activate the reader when she realized I was using the RFID reader, but it was pretty fast and easy to use.

I think (hope) they will offer many options for it. Keychains, Lanyards, normal tickets will probably be offered.

Im hoping that they make a watch band. I always have my disney watch when I vacation and only when I vacation so it would be amazing if it was also my pass+.

I assume (without knowing) that the wristbands will be removeable. Otherwise, we are going to see an entire generation of wedding photos with the wedding party (including the bride) wearing awful wristbands. It can't be the case that every wedding party that arrives days before the wedding and every guest who dresses to the nines to go to Victoria and Albert's will have to match a wristband to their formal attire.

I'm rather intrigued by it but then I'm not a frequent vacationer at Disney World. I try to visit every 4 years and every visit is memorable so I continue to go as often as I can, I just can't afford to do Disney and everything else I enjoy doing(both time and money wise).

I actually wore my room key and park key on a lanyard around my neck my last visit so I wouldn't lose them and had them at easy access to get fast passes and get in and out of the park. Having it in wristband form would be a lot easier and I would be less likely to lose it and if it were waterproof even better! I would be worried if I did lose it though and if RFID readers would be able to pull my information from it(as in if someone were walking around the park with one and were able to read it)although if Disney is putting that much money in it I'm sure the security for them would be pretty high.

In other words if it's available by August I'll most likely look into doing it if I decide to do a quick 3 day trip before DisCruise 1.0. ;)

They are removable and waterproof and there will not be any info on them worth stealing.

Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

About the only thing I could see me not using it for at this point would be purchases mostly for keeping track of what I bought and how much, however if it's able to do that with the app from what I'm hearing I can see me using this at my next trip.

How removeable are they? I will be going in June with a 5 and 6 year old. I hope they are not like our local waterpark where you have to cut them to remove, but then if they are too easily removed, the girls will want to play with them while we are walking and probably lose them.

It is good to know they are waterproof as kids will find water to play in.

Does anyone know if fastpass+ will be operating in June at the CBR resort? I hope to be able to use the old system for one last trip. We don't do the "big" rides and usually get multiple WInnie the pooh, peter pan, jungle cruise etc fast passes during the day.

I'm not sure when they are actually going to start using the wrist bands but the info Disney has put out is something along the lines of if you don't sign up to use fastpass+ then you can use the regular fastpass system. Also keep in mind most of the stuff that we know about fastpass+ is from the testing of it and Disney may make some changes between now and the summer when it will be expanded.

Has anyone on here actually been one of the people that previewed the Next Gen technology? From what I am hearing about it, I'm not looking forward to this Fastpass+ system, but I am curious. I hope that it remains free of charge. I feel like they would definitely be able to make it where people could just use their cards or wrist bands to go to a kiosk and reserve a fastpass time (like the current system without the paper). This system would ruin any spontaneity. What about cast members visiting on their time off, Florida residents, and annual passholders? They don't always know when their next visit to the parks will be! They cannot necessarily plan their reservations ahead of time! I really hope that this shapes up better than its looking... I understand it is not perfect, but there seem to be A LOT of kinks to work out!

As I said in the previous post most of what we know about this is from the test and august phase where Disney invited guest to help them test it. They are now adding more guest into the system, most likely to continue testing it further, before roiling it out to others. They have said that they will be keeping the regular system in place for now for those that do not have the RFID tickets yet. As for how they will handled it for CM's and AP holders that is anyone's guess right now as they are currently only offering it to resort guests.
