Would you consider the Swan/Dolphin a Value, Mod, or Deluxe?

As many of you on here, we are having a terrible time deciding where to stay. I was looking at the Swan/Dolphin website and noticed there is a teacher discount! SCORE! We are looking at going mod or maybe deluxe with our stay (can't decide on that either). Would you consider Swan or Dolphin a value, mod or deluxe? Why or why not? Thanks!

I would consider it a deluxe. The rooms are good sized with nice toiletries, heavenly beds, and showers. Some rooms have balconies and amazing views. There are indoor corridors, multiple sit down restaurants and a spa on site. You can walk to 2 parks or take the boat to Epcot and DHS.

While you do sometimes hear the S/D lack the Disney magic, I dont feel that way at all when I stay there. I feel like I am in the middle of the magic!

love the swan/ dolphin certainly a deluxe, Sheraton suite sleeper bed is the BOMB !!! I have stayed many times and it is a super place at a great price for disney and taking the boat to epcot and mgm is very cool, If you have hopper passes you can boat to epcot then walk to the monorail to Magic kingdom take the bus back if its late.

I consider it a deluxe, and so does Disney. It has all of the amenities of a deluxe (multiple restaurants, great location within walking distance to two parks, beautiful pool area). The beds are so comfortable! Haven't stayed at Swan but I love the Dolphin!

Deluxe, for certain. We arrive tomorrow for our sixth stay. The location can't be beat and the comfy couches in the Dolphin's lobby are perfect for late evening cocktails and people watching. The Cabana Bar area at the grotto pools is lovely. The ease of getting to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and the Hollywood Studios is terrific. And those HEAVENLY BEDS!!!! Definitely a deluxe!

Definitely deluxe but keep in mind there is no Magical Express, so if you fly in that can be a bummer.

Being not Disney, we have no ambition to try either one no natter the cost... It's just how I am!

Definitely falls in the deluxe hotel category. But make no mistake- they are Not Disney Resorts. They are very nice business-type hotels. There is no Disney Theming. While we like to stay at Sheratons elsewhere, we prefer to stay at Disney resorts when at WDW.

I've stayed at Dolphin 3x, Swan 1x and Disney deluxes-BC, YC, WL, Poly, Contemporary. It is def a deluxe and feels Disney to me- we've always had a view of the Boardwalk, it has a Disney themed gift shop. It is right in the middle of the action between HS and Epcot. We love it. We are trying the BWI this trip because we want to try all the deluxes and it keeps our Disney trips fresh. Wouldn't hesitiate to book at S/D again though!

I agree. It feels more Disney to me than some of the other Disney resorts and is right smack dab in the middle of alot of Disney Magic.

Do they usually sell out very early? We are going in September and both the Swan and Dolphin are showing zero availability.

While I haven't stayed at either, we had our vow renewal at the Swan last year. It was beautiful. We also have eaten at the restaurants--great. I like that it isn't as crazy as some of the Disney hotels. We always stay in villas which are quieter. I don't think I'd like being at some of the busier deluxe hotels.

We stayed at Dolphin September 2012 and it was great! Loved the location and all the restaurant choices so nearby. Honestly though I was a little jealous about the people posting about towel animals from mousekeeping from Disney resorts. We didn't get those staying at dolphin. Also, sometimes it can be crowded because many businesses/organizations hold conferences there. But overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

To me, there are two things that most distinguish a deluxe from a moderate resort at Disney: 1) non-bus transportation options to at least one park and 2) balconies on rooms. Swan/Dolphin meets both those criteria with 1) the boats or walking to EPCOT and DHS and 2) at least some (or all - I'm not sure) of their rooms have balconies.

Other amenities are nice (and S/D certainly has them), but the above 2 factors make it a deluxe in my book.

I agree. And it's not just a Disney-themed gift shop, it's an actual Disney gift shop. You can have purchases from Disney parks shipped to the Disney gift shop at the Dolphin.

I've had towel animals 3 times in 37 years at Disney World resorts.:)

The Swan/Dolphin are definitely deluxe resorts. There are 17 restaurants between them ranging from the very moderately priced to pretty ultra.

IF you stay at the Swan/Dolphin you don't have access to EMH, is that right? I value that little bit of extra time, so I am trying to decide between the Swan/Dolphin vs. a WDW resort.
