Official 2013 Disney Princess Half Marathon Thread - Take 2

Thanks so much for all the good wishes - I think this last run made it all real... I WILL FINISH! :thumbsup2

I wish I could say the same. My 6 miles left my hip in some pain.
Not happy :sad2:
I'm sorry :worried: Hoping it's just a small bump in the road to recovery!

43 degrees so I decked myself out in a long sleeve pink Fila shirt, a sweatshirt over that and my long running pants with panties underneath (haven't done the commando thing yet and I figured it was too cold for me to try it on this outside run today).:
Hee hee, commando is my norm but I added some wicking panties under my tights the other day... what a difference in keeping my grumpy flute muscles warm! know now what I'll be doing race day.

Thanks for all the input on HTTD. I am currently in Brooks and have been thinking about trying the Pure line just to see how I like it. I know I used to push off with my toes a lot, and PT for shin splints showed me that I have a freakish lack of flexibility in my big toes, so I really got into the Chi Running and have tried to consciously be more of a mid-foot runner:
I think you might really like the Pure line then - they really make a mid- foot strike easy without forcing it like I found Newtons to do.

Congrats Princess V!! Hope you finally have your issues worked out, no pun intended!!
:rotfl: Actually I was telling a friend that my chiro is part MD,part PT, and part psychologist - I always leave there feeling better mentally, too!

I know this has been asked before...but what compression tights do the veteran princess runners like and why. Do you like full length, Capri, and do you like one brand over another. I've seen so many my head is spinning. CW-X(?) seems to offer more specific support for Knees and muscles.
I lovelovelove CW-X! Capris or full. Like wearing a bunch of compression sleeves connected by KT Tape!

So here's a question: Who has test-run their costumes yet and if so, where?
I tried my Snow outfit on yesterday... and immediately nixed it. I looked ridiculous! I'm going with all black and a Team Sparkle skirt instead.

I think there should be a second medal given to the northern folks who run winter races in FL - your determination is amazing!

Thank you! We need all the encouragement we can get. I'm looking at a temp of 27 at the moment in Chicago and it's making me procrastinate until it warms up even a little. But what to my wondering eyes should appear in the 10 day forecast? 37, 38, 45...49!!???!! It's not right, but I'll take it! :woohoo:

So here's a question: Who has test-run their costumes yet and if so, where? I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and do it at the indoor track because there's no way I can wear it in the 20-30* weather.

Dudette! Test run next Saturday!! Forecast of cloudy and 49 degrees! (friday rainy and 48)

I did two costume test runs, of different elements. Ran a 5k Race for the Cure in my tutu -- lots of tutus in that event -- to make sure a) it would stay put and not ride up/down, and b) to make sure it wouldn't drive me batty rubbing against my legs.

And then did a second test run at a 10k Halloween race where I wore a sleeveless top to make sure my shells (yep, I'm going to be Ariel) stayed affixed and that I wouldn't get too cold, and a different skirt option (more sequin-y) to see if it would be a suitable back-up to the tutu in case of rain.

Good luck with your test run.

Is anyone staying off-site? I'm still up in the air as to where to stay. I could only get into CS and CB with my current pin. I will have a car no matter where we stay. I'm thinking I may even want to take the car to the race in case it's cold so we have a place to hang out. We have stayed off-site on our last two recent Disney trips and LOVED it. I stayed at CB for ToT/Wine and Food Festival and was disappointed. I easily stress and plan everything so from what I read I will be okay to park if we leave the hotel early (I'm sure I won't sleep so no worries there).

My reasons for off-site-larger rooms, rather eat no-Disney food when I'm not at the park and $$$

Ok so I have some news I need to share with you princesses. I am almost 6 weeks preg! Crazy! I was feeling great and getting my runs in up until two days ago I've been waking up heaving and puking! Oh boy! I am just taking it really easy and going to get my runs in the late afternoon instead. Please send any sticky baby vibes our way! We have had an early loss before so we are a bit nervous but really really happy. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I also wanted to share this very special video my hubs made of our Disney Christmas Village! It is his project and it's really truly amazing. Anything with lights you see he custom did. He custom lit the Contemporary, GF, Poly, and even did the color changing LED's on the castle! Sorry for the pulsing lights in the video, that's just how the LED's translate onto HD. I don't know how to fix that. I know this will get you all even more psyched to be running!!!!pixiedust:

I just saw that, too!!!

I put on my costume this morning and was going to brave a mile in the cold just to see but DH stopped me and told me about Saturday's "heat wave." Woo!!!! :yay:

But since I had it on, I had him take a picture. Here's what I am wearing. I still need to get a green running belt and head band (mine are pink) but otherwise here it is:

I have a wand but I think I will skip it since I plan on having my phone, KTTW, iPod Shuffle and cash in my belt pouch and my camera in hand. I don't need another thing to carry for 13.1 miles.

Congratulations! Didn't someone say that every time they get a new puppy they find out they are preggo shortly thereafter? Fabulous news!

Thanks!!!! It's from all my obstacle course training and pole dancing. Seriously fun way to work the upper body and core while having a lot of silly fun. When people find out I am a pole dancer, they look at me funny and then I add "not professionally" and they are usually relieved. LOL!!! But your body is going to be doing something seriously awesome now so no hiding!!! We want to see that beautiful baby bump as it grows!!!!

Thanks! It's a dance costume. I scoured the various costume places for a green dress and found this one. I found some others that were adorable but I didn't think they'd make the 13.1 -- maybe a 5K -- so I am hoping this one cuts it.

That's me but she did just get a puppy!!!! :rotfl:

I know! That's why I brought that up. Who knew when you said that it would actually happen?! Neato!

You know what's nutty is on a totally different group a friend said the same thing to me! It was our first month trying. Who knew it would happen right away?! pixiedust:

Add us to the group of getting a puppy = a new baby! Happened to us twice! Within 5 weeks of getting a puppy we found out both times I was pregnant! I keep joking with DH no more dogs for awhile!

Wow, that dress is beautiful and your body looks amazing... Are you just wearing that, or will you be wearing gym clothes underneath?

7.5 miles done. :cool1: Need to figure something out to deal with this blister that won't die though.

Ok, anyone want a puppy? Cause I do NOT want a baby! :rotfl: Maybe it doesn't count since it's a stray that we found a month ago. No chip, no tags, couldn't find his owners. He's most def. just a puppy though.
