BC vs. YC Club level

There are 4 rooms that face the wedding gazebo that are garden view. Of those I KNOW 2 have 2 queens. I stayed in them both. One of the two also has a daybed. The other 2 facing the gazebo I don't know anything about. I do know a king bed exists in here somewhere either overlooking the gazebo or if it is the room facing the main walkway. They will NEVER give you a king bed if you are a party of 4. No worries there! Now for the record I have stayed at BWI CL, YC CL and BC CL for the last 4 years. EVERY year I get a daybed except for last year and I never requested it - and we are a party of 3. So look at it this way - if you are at YC - you know you have a balcony so scratch this off the request list. If you are staying GV you will have a lovely view, so scratch that request. Your only request can be "daybed please"

Just wanted to say hi scottmel :wave2:

Your only request can be "daybed please" vs. a BC request which in my case would have been "full balcony please, no connecting room, no handicapped room, daybed please". See the difference? Don't get me wrong, BC is lovely!!! I just am not a club level fan there but am a BC fan. YC CL is easier to work with

Thank you for a great explanation! I understand exactly what you are saying :). My DH and girls are going to be so excited. Now I just have to keep it a secret until May...

The lounge is that orange box right in front the elevator.

Disney revamped the standard view vs garden view categories two years ago so if you pay the extra cost for garden view then you won't be looking at the rooftop/entrance. Those are standard view. I have a chart for BC, let me go find it and i will brb.

Thank you!

(I don't see a PM, though. Do they take awhile to send on the boards or should they be instant? I don't get many sent to me here! LOL)

I stayed CL at Beach Club in 2011 and Cl at Yacht Club in 2012, around the same time of year. Beach Club was our very first CL experience and we really loved it. The staff was very friendly and the offerings were great. Our biggest complaint was that the lounge often felt very cramped. We ended up getting food and going back to our room to eat it more than once which was a bit of a bummer because we had a long walk to our room.

I was not super excited to stay at the Yacht Club because it always seemed a bit stuffy to me (in comparison to the Boardwalk and the Beach Club). Well, our visit in 2012, proved me wrong. We LOVED the Yacht Club! The lounge never felt as cramped as the Beach Club lounge. We were always able to find a seat. The staff was very friendly.

If I were choosing between both, I would choose the Yacht Club first every time.

Thanks so much for everyone's responses!!! You guys had a lot of great information, which I knew you would. :goodvibes

I just had the same issue- could not decide between the two. YC, based on all the helpful comments I have read, has a nicer lounge. BC, however had great views- our Gv room last year had views of SAB and lake ( if you turned your head). I kept waffling: what you know v. what what seems good. We wound up going back to our room to enjoy the view with our food-the lounge is small snd awkward. However, our room was close to the lounge and convenient. Check in there took forever-like 45 minutes.
I went with YC to try something different. One time the Bc lounge ran out of plates- minor issue but kind of odd. Another time we made it back to enjoy desserts and it was all cleaned up 15 minutes before dessert time ended. Minor annoyance but it seemed everyone wanted to go home. Still would recommend BC CL -but the only thing I can compare it to was GF RPC ( no comparison--- fantastic!) but the cost of GF CL is just too much for me.

Here's the garden view club level breakdown according to the concierge room assignor - she gave this to me:

BC:
Nine Rooms
None have king beds.
One has a daybed.

YC:
Five Rooms
Two have king beds.
Two have daybeds.

I'm trying to make the same decision, never stayed at Beach Club club level, stayed at Yacht Club club level last year and loved it and am trying to decide if I want to try something new, or stick with the old. Are the evening food offerings the same at both resorts?

Yes, the food offerings are the same at both places. I don't know for sure, but assume that the same things are served at both places each night- say, if Thursday is scallops with bacon, then both places will have it.

Same breakfast items- oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, danish/pastries, fruit, bagels, etc.

Thanks for the fast response. In that case, I might just as well stay at the Yacht Club. When we've stayed in a standard room at the Beach Club the last two times, the mattresses were so soft I woke up with a backache every morning. We had a nice king size bed at the Yacht Club when we stayed there last July.

Yes. However, what they were serving last year might be different than this year. They make changes constantly. But whatever is at the YC CL is exactly the same as the BC CL. So if you notice changes from last year, they are the same on both sides.

I posted a long review last year of the BC CL vs. YC CL. In summary my biggest problem with BC CL GV is many of the rooms connect, at least one of these garden rooms are handicapped and in short if you get a connecting room there is noise. No two ways about it. Just everyday conversation was heard, etc. There wasn't anywhere to move to b/c there are so few rooms in this category. I can speak from experience at YC that the connecting door didn't seem an issue - I have had three different rooms at yc cl gv facing the wedding pavilion and none connected. None were handicapped.

The lounge at BC is tight and I too experienced stuff just out of stock. One day at 3 no lemonade at all....dishes gone at dessert time. Forks missing at appetizer hour etc. No ice tea during the day, just things I never saw in my 4 stays at YC CL GV. Again no deal breaker per say but add that to the issue of connecting rooms, handicap room etc.

One thing though in regards to balcony ALL BC CL GV have balconies.

I loved BC as a hotel, I adore the infamous Teena, room décor, hotel lobby - love it all. I just was disappointed in the lounge and room assignments. However maybe lagoon view doesn't suffer this room issue at all or standard view, I don't know. I can only speak from GV.

The view at BC GV CL was over the volleyball court and just lovely. The YC CL GV was the wedding pavilion - both resorts I had a sideways lagoon view and loved it.

I would stay at YC GV CL again in an instant, I would stay at BC GV in an instant.

Thanks to all who responded. I think I'm going to stick with the Yacht Club. We stayed last year and at first, they gave us a room with just one queen bed. I went back and asked for a king and they accommodated us --- plus the mattress was comfortable. My last two days at the BC, regular room, the mattresses were so soft, I woke up with a back ache both times.

Thanks again.
