BC vs. YC Club level

Hi,

We are toying around with the idea of a late August trip. I am also looking into staying CL at either of these two resorts. Who can give me some info? I am mostly looking for what specific foods/beverages are offered (I know that it is subject to change) and where the CL rooms are located. Of course, I am interested in any other information anyone may have. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the link. I was looking around the web, but was only coming up with general information. Some of the threads and sites I've looked at list, very specifically, what is served. They give an actual menu. I was looking for something like that. The pictures were quite helpful though.

Does anyone know where the rooms are for club level in these two resorts? What floor? Are they all the same view for each resort?

I have stayed CL at the Poly and the GF goodvibes loved the GF) and they both give the option for different views. I don't recall seeing that for the BC/YC when I was going through the information.

That thread I posted is the BC/YC thread. You will definitely have a good chance of getting your questions answered if you post there. There is a member, ninjamom, who posts there often and is currently staying CL at BC. She has been posting updates daily and did go into some detail as to what was being served in the BC CL.

I have stayed at both and by far and aaway YC CL is the better. To be fair, I would only stay in a garden view room as the cost is around 11 more a night and I feel paying club level prices in a standard room to look at a roof top is nuts. So YC GV CL has 8 rooms vs. BC GV CL as 5. Now my problem with BC is the following - of these 5 rooms 4 connect. Of these 5 rooms one is handicapped accessible with no water pressure and sink in bathroom. I found the connecting rooms to be noisy. I like the YC CL staff better than BC CL staff. I love BC hotel and would stay here again just not club level. Food is average at both places but BC CL lounge is TIGHT and packed......YC seems more spacious and relaxed. My dd13 prefers YC over BC as do we. We really love the vibe at both hotels but I would not stay BC CL again. I was pretty disappointed with the room layout on the garden view end of things. Nice view though - volleyball court or SAB. Pretty. Love the view. And add to the fact that only if you stay BC GV CL are you promised a balcony - no where else in BC CL are you assured. you ARE assured at YC CL regardless the category. Rumor has it there is one room that shares a balcony but I don't know the details on that and it is NOT garden view. Gardenn view there is wedding gazebo or front walkway up the stairs

Very helpful post, scottmel. We've stayed both CL and non-CL at BC, but only non-CL at YC. Thinking of giving CL at YC a try someday and this is great info.

I can't recommend YC CL any higher! LOVE IT THERE. Regarding the staff, the biggest difference I found at BC CL is the 1/2 the time there was no ice tea during the shifts when it was suppose to be there. One night there were no plates. At all. anywhere. Seemed not near as well run or cups were in short supply or no lemonade as YC CL. I have also stayed BWI CL and I rank BWI CL higher than YC CL just in terms of lounge size, more efficient staff, etc. but honestly YC is a close second. Bc is a far distant distant 3rd. In fact we had booked BC for June 2013 but I told Dh with our luck it would be the one year we were ever upgraded and I wouldn't really want to be so we switched to YC!

About a month ago on the Yacht & Beach Club thread, a lot of people were asking if there is a menu list of the items avail on club level. So far, I have not seen anything like that posted for these resorts.

A recent guest who stayed at the Yacht Club took these pictures of some of the offerings in the lounge. Much more recent than the ones on the thread that I took over 2 years ago!

I believe the food offerings in both lounges are the same.

I'll be traveling with my mom, and as I said in the other post, I love her but I don't want to sleep in a king bed with her. And I also don't want to be inconvenienced by having to sleep on and dodge a rollaway in the middle of a small room. I can request a queen bed room but at the end of the day if there are 7 families staying at the same time then obviously we'll get bumped to a king bed. I'm not going to spend all of this money and be stuck with an undesirable bedding situation.

And now that you just mentioned the handicapped accessible room, knowing my luck we'll get stuck with that one. (This is no joke, I have the worst luck in the world. I have a black cloud that follows me everywhere. If something can go wrong, it will!) I honestly think I'm going to spend the extra cash on a deluxe room just to guarantee that I'll have two beds and a sink outside of the room. LOL

It's been 6 years since I worked at this resort, but when I was there we worked at both the YC and the BC. Front desk and concierge. The staff should be the same, but the person who said the facilities are different is definitely right. The YC always seemed more spacious to me, and I spent a year working there and walking around every part of both. The CL in the YC is nicer and the views are much nicer, and there definitely seems to be more room. There's also the fact that the YC is quieter in general. The YC gets all the convention guests, but we rarely if ever would put them on the CL unless there just wasn't room. I don't know if any of this helps, but thought I would chime in about my old resort

Dana - did you mean to type you had your heart set on BC GV CL? You typed YC...My handicap room issue was with BC....and I THOUGHT though I could be wrong, but at one point, YC GV CL had one king bed. Though the last I reseached it was 18months ago so it could have changed of course but Teena would certainly now best. I love Teena! She is a huge draw for me for BC

It really isn't going to be a problem unless the resort happens to be full that day. If it is, make sure they move you the next day. I agree. But keep in mind if you are staying Garden View - there are soooo few rooms. It is not likely you will be able to switch to the same view staying on CL in booked GV. T hey will give you something somewhere in the hotel. Last year when I got the Handicapped room I immediately let the hotel manager know (forget the 5th floor) and the only thing they could offer me was the 1st floor but I could use the club. No thanks. Minutes later they called up and apparently the group that was checking into BC GV CL had 5 in their party yet the room only slept 4. Did I want THAT room? Yes and it worked out fine. But dealing with garden view there are a handful of rooms

YC CL and BC CL are very similar but as several people have posted already the issues with room type can make or break your experience. Our most recent stay at the BC CL turned out positive because we were given exactly what we requested (daybed and full balcony) but many of the rooms around us only had the step-out balcony. DH and I sat out on the balcony several evenings watching distant fireworks, listening to Off Kilter, looking at Spaceship Earth, people watching the front entrance of the resort, etc, etc, and we both agreed if we would have been given one of those other rooms we would have been majorly disappointed. We have been very lucky to get the types of rooms we have requested, and even times when we didn't like our room they were willing to move us. One time at YC CL we brought my mother with us but the room didn't have a daybed. We were able to use a roll away bed the first night and then they moved us the next morning. I really feel like they want to accommodate everyone as best they can.

Rooms aside, I have to say I prefer the lounge at the YC over the BC. I find it larger and more comfortable with a much easier traffic flow. The BC lounge isn't situated in a way that makes "lining up" for breakfast very easy. Everything is crammed into one small area. But I definitely think the food is exactly the same. It has become a running joke with our kids... "chicken on a stick" and I always encourage people not to get too excited about the food. The lobster salad is a highlight for sure, but most nights you just get the Gordon's food service type of appetizers... "pick ups" as I would call them. We usually snack there pretty close to 5:00 and schedule our dinner reservations for 7:30 or 8:00. If you think these appetizers can take the place of a meal you'd be very disappointed.

As for the views, they do offer a water view that will overlook either the pool or the lake... then you have garden view and standard view. We typically book standard view because we don't like spending extra money for a water view, but if you feel that would be important to you then it might be worth it.

Sorry I can't quote as I'm on my iPhone, but to Scottmel I was talking about BC when I mentioned the handicapped room. When I heard about the king bed situation at YC I figured I would just change to BC CL GV but then I saw the handicapped room mention, and that was another downer. I know I'm too picky and anal, but I'd really like a room with the sink outside. When traveling with another person it really cuts down on time in the morning.

I might sound overly dramatic, but like I said, I really do have very bad luck! If the only way to guarantee a room with what I need is to book a deluxe, then ill gladly pay extra for it. Well, not too gladly. LOL

From what I've read in the posts here they definitely won't be giving you a king room, even if it is a king with a daybed. 4 people = 2 beds. They'd probably be glad to give you an extra rollaway to supplement your two queen beds, if you have someone who really doesn't want to share a bed, but the rooms look small and the thought of a rollaway shoved into your only walking space doesn't sound very appealing.

Ugh now I'm toying with the idea of keeping a GV CL at YC but willingly taking a standard view if they won't give us 2 Queens in GV. I know not to trust the Disney site, but their YC CL standard room description does say "view of garden, rooftop, or parking areas." Who knows, maybe there's a few that really are garden. (There's one example on Disney.com that I'm curious about. I know the map posted in here is old, but it doesn't look like it matches up with anything on it, as the window/balcony is on a different wall. The room looks a lot bigger, and it has 2 Queens and a Daybed. Also, the TV isn't on the wall but is on the dresser.) Also I wonder how they'd go about refunding the difference in price if we had to do that? (It'd only be like $36 for 6 nights, but money is money!)

Not related to my room debacle, but can someone please tell me where the lounge is at BC? Going by the map posted in here, which rooms does it take the place of? I'm assuming they had to knock out some rooms to put it in, or is it located in one of the orange "housekeeping" spots? Thank you!

The lounge is that orange box right in front the elevator.

Disney revamped the standard view vs garden view categories two years ago so if you pay the extra cost for garden view then you won't be looking at the rooftop/entrance. Those are standard view. I have a chart for BC, let me go find it and i will brb.

There are 4 or 5 rooms that face the wedding gazebo that are garden view. Of those I KNOW 2 have 2 queens. I stayed in them both. One of the two also has a daybed. The other 2 facing the gazebo I don't know anything about. I do know a king bed exists in here somewhere either overlooking the gazebo or if it is the room facing the main walkway. They will NEVER give you a king bed if you are a party of 4. No worries there! Now for the record I have stayed at BWI CL, YC CL and BC CL for the last 4 years. EVERY year I get a daybed except for last year and I never requested it - and we are a party of 3. So look at it this way - if you are at YC - you know you have a balcony so scratch this off the request list. If you are staying GV you will have a lovely view, so scratch that request. Your only request can be "daybed please" vs. a BC request which in my case would have been "full balcony please, no connecting room, no handicapped room, daybed please". See the difference? Don't get me wrong, BC is lovely!!! I just am not a club level fan there but am a BC fan. YC CL is easier to work with
