Well, in just a little bit, I am going to attempt to make cannoli, to bring to a friends house tomorrow. We usually do Dutch olliebollen traditionally cuz DH is Dutch, but now it is time to introduce the Italian side.
I love cannoli, but never had the shell tubes to make them. Finally bought some, so I guess I had better give it a try. I don't usually do the deep fry thing, so I had better watch out.
I'm going to use my family's recipe for the filling. Ricotta cheese, cream, pistachios, maraschino cherries, sugar, almond extract and mini chocolate chips. Also calls for citron peel, but I am not into that stuff. Maybe I will do some orange zest. I will report back on my success or failure at some point. LOL!
