~ D23 Expo Aug./2013 ~

I already do :) This year I upgraded and got reservations at the Hilton. Last two I was at Jolly Roger.

Wife and I are going for the first time (yay!). Anyone know if we have a thread on the boards kinda like our cruise meet boards for this event?

Clint
(probably staying at the HI Express Maingate)

I already booked the Hilton as well. After walking from Candy Cane Inn last time, (which is a fine place, really) I decided I was staying there this time.

Do we know when the schedule of events will be released?
It seems they are more prepared for the massive crowds this time. :thumbsup2

I'm waiting on this also. Last expo's 3rd day did not interest me at all so hopefully they release the schedule so we can buy the tickets for days that we want to be there.

We've already booked too! This year we will be at the Hilton... Last two we stayed at the Anabella, but we gotta go with the best price! Unfortunately, the group decided this may be our last Expo, had a great time at the first one, but the second was a bit of a let down in our opinion... Here's to hoping they bring back some of the magic from the first Expo!!!

It sounds like some positive changes are being planned.

I think I'm heading back again this year... I stayed at the carousel inn last time and will probably book the hilton this time.

We stayed at the DL Hotel last time. (SPLURGE!) This time might try HoJo.

Booked air already on Virgin America out of Philadelphia.

After sitting out 2009 and 2011, I bought tix for the 2013 D23 Expo. I will probably pick the Marriott or Hilton next door, since I've heard from other veterans that closer is best.

Does anyone know if there will be a D23 discount at nearby hotels?

I would book a hotel now and switch if deals come later. Although I don't mind the walk from the Fairfield Inn to the convention center. After the ridiculously long lines to get in last year I booked the Hilton this time.

I really want to go to this. But do you have to be a D23 member to buy tickets? Or does it just help with getting discounts.
Also, is this the place to go if I want to splurge and buy a ton of neat things. :P

You don't have to be a member to buy tickets, they are just more expensive and you don't get to go in as early, although with the problems they had with lines at the last one I don't think it made a huge difference. You do get access to some cool merchandise and events during the year if you are a member.

Does anyone know if they provided transportation from the Disneyland Hotel to the convention center for the last Expo? I seem to recall hearing about a shuttle. If so, how was it.

Got a good deal, so booked Paradise Pier for 3 nights, after 4 nights at VGC (my friend booked it with DVC points). :cool1:

We stayed at DL last time (Frontier Tower). We all thought the walk was quite easy. The back up plan was the split a cab, but the walk was only 10 minutes, tops. Maybe less.

We are booked at the Hlton during Expo and then moving over to PPH afterwards to visit the Parks.
Haven't booked air yet. Will wait a few more months (pay off the deposit for the hotels first ) ;)

Could someone explain to me a typical day there. I want to go for the 3 days. But I just want to know what to expect.
And what kind of transportation do they have there. If I stayed at hojo, could I get there easily?
What about parking?

Well, you will see a long list of seminars about various subjects set in various rooms..they have the Arena that has the big events...like the Legends ceremony and the Studios presentation, etc. Then they have several other rooms..smallish..5 or six hundred or so? for other presentations..History of Small World, Designing Cars land, Pixar Panel, etc, which were tough or impossile to get into last time. They are making changes this year, so hope the experience is more positive for many. They have live events on the floor..Disney Radio, artist and celeb signings, demonstrations, etc., the floor also has collectors booths, stuff for sale and lots of Disney divisions showcases..large one for the parks, DVC booth, Gaming exhibits, the first year they had ABC preview showings (BRING THAT BACK!) and evening movie showings...lots to do. The presentations will overlap so you cannot see and do all, but I find it really informative and fun and will not miss it.
