BOG and Food Allergies

Not sure if this has been asked or addressed elsewhere but I am looking for food allergy info on BOG lunch CS. Dd has peanut and tree nut allergies but is a picky eater too. I'm hoping she will have a decent selection that is ok for her. Had anyone seen the allergy info for here? Desserts too... She would love it if she could have any of them. Thanks!

I haven't heard any reviews yet, but I'm going to be at BOG this weekend for dinner for a Tables in Wonderland preview. I'm GF/DF, so I'll be checking out the offerings. I can't wait to eat there and then to report to you all about it! :thumbsup2

Ugh. I just thought of something if the desserts aren't safe for my son (peanut/tree nut) whenever we go I need them to not bring the dessert by. I can't imagine pushing a cart of cupcakes in front of him and saying you can't have any. I hope someone gets the scoop soon.

Exactly! :)
They made those cupcakes and cream puffs look just too nice lol. This is what we're trying to avoid and will make other plans if need be (as much as I can't wait to eat here!)

They have good allergen information there, but I'm afraid I didn't look to see what was peanut/nut free. We were just gluten free and the options for adults were pretty good. For kids, it was a little more hit and miss. My DD is effectively vegetarian, and there were no GF/vegetarian options on the kids menu. On the adult menu, I think there was only the quinoa salad and soups, which didn't appeal to her.

The gluten free lemon cream puff is very good, the people in our party who could eat all of the desserts all like the gluten free one best.

I wasn't able to find out any info about nut allergies at BOG dinner, but they were able to accommodate my gluten free/dairy free needs pretty well. I'm hopeful you'll be able to find some good options for your DD there.

We are considering BOG for quick service lunch when we visit. Our kids are allergic to milk, soy, egg, peanut, treenut. Is there any hope of eating there?

I've heard they can't make any modifications. Has anyone eaten there with multiple allergies successfully? And do they stock any all the pre-packaged allergy cookies for dessert (since we can't have those cupcakes).

I don't see why they can't or won't make modifications due to dietary needs, even at lunch. Yes, you might need to talk with someone instead of just using the kiosk, but really makes no sense to me.

We are planning on going there for lunch at the end of December and I will try to notice what would happen there.

There is a review on glutenfreediaryfreewdw.blogspot.com for GF/DF. That is the only allergy review I have seen so far. My 6 yr old has over 20 allergies, so I hope to read more before July.

I don't think the issue is necessarily that they won't make modifications to the regular menu but desserts cause a bigger problem. The big issue is that most baked goods (maybe all?) in Disney have potential cross contamination with nuts in the bakery so they are no safe. My guess would be that like other CS places they could accommodate with a substitution like fruit or allergy safe cookies but they are definitely more limited with accommodating during QS especially with desserts than during TS meals. With TS meals, the chef would probably be able to make something that is safe. Thy usually have access to more resources to do that.

For lunch, at the kiosk, you will hit the food allergies button, and will check off your allergies. It will then display what your safe options are. It will automatically modify certain options for you such as changing out the bread on certain items. It is easy to use if you are not looking to substitute out food items or have multiple allergies that may leave you with very limited options. I don't see why you couldn't request certain combinations of safe foods from the existing menu. Even though it is automated with the kiosk, there are Cast Members available and willing to help you place your order.

By the way, all 3 options of the cupcakes (chocolate, strawberry and lemon) are tree nut and peanut free and are safe. No cross contamination, or made in a facility issues!

HOLD the phones! The cupcakes are all peanut free? OMG! You just made my day! DS is only 2 so not having the baked goods is tough sometimes! I am so thrilled that he can have a chocolate cupcake! We have a precious dinner res in Feb! If anyone else can confirm this news - thank you in advance. What wonderful news this time of year. Happy holidays to all!

WOW !!! That is wonderful if the cup cakes are nut free and safe. You find that NO where at WDW. Did this information come from a chief? I often find if I ask if there are any nuts in something, a lay person will often say of course not without really understanding what that means. If this is true, maybe we have hopes of these at other places as well.

I know. I was surprised at that news as well! Last time we went I was told all of the baked goods (cupcakes, cookies, etc) were off limits because of cross contamination concerns. For a lot of people "nut free" just means no nuts in the particular item but not a processed in the same facility issue, etc. so it would be interesting to know

I am glad I am not the only one psyched for this news! If the cupcakes are made in a nut free facility that would be amazing. I asked my awesome travel agent to look into this as well....
I have found that many desserts made " in house" and not through a central location have a much better chance of being nut free.....
Thank you all again...

I can only tell you our experience with the BOG cupcakes...

We have always spoken with a chef for TS and either a manager or looked at the allergy book for CS. So we were a little skeptical when ordering with the kiosk with allergies. (Lunch) The CM helping us order assured us every choice unsafe woud be eliminated off the kiosk choices. Which there were several of, and several modifications came up, such as different bread, etc. (for peanut and tree nut allergies). (For example, DD wanted the vegetable quiche, but that choice was eliminated for her so there must be something in it that is not ok, my guess is the crust...)

They must get this a lot, because we kept looking at him, like are you sure?? and he kept saying, really, it's all ok if the choices still remain. So we went with that, as we have trusted Disney for years with DD's allergies.

Her food was brought out by a manager and had an allergy stick in each item she ordered, it was not brought out on the cart with the other food.

Still, she stared, unsure, at the two cupcakes we were going to share to taste each one, and she couldn't believe it, as almost all baked goods Disney has are off limits to her.

She is severely allergic to both peanuts and tree nuts, and we don't even take a chance with foods that are peanut/tree nut free but are manufactured in the same facility.

Really, my heart raced as she started tasting them, and really wondered if taking the chance was even worth it. I had my eye on my purse for her epipen and benadryl even, lol. She was fine and the delight to see her eating them was so much fun! (We had the chocolate and strawberry.) I tasted each one and let her eat the rest...of both, lol. Shhh, don't tell her I told you that. :goodvibes A rare occasion and a special treat.

That was our experience and as always, I would suggest each party follow up on your own to be sure.

I hope everyone else gets to enjoy the BOG offerings safely! Have fun!

Thanks so much for sharing this! I just made our June ADR for BOG this morning (dinner ADR) and this makes me so happy to hear! :cloud9:

I thought I herd somewhere that everything at be our guest is being made in house in it's own separate kitchen, anyone know any truth to this?

Thank you for sharing your whole story! It gives me a big hope for our trip coming up. I am so glad she had such a wonderful experience!
