Which building would you request? I don't really care much about the view but would really like a quiet(ish) room near the food court. I have a preferred standard (aka not pool) view room booked.

I'm thinking I want top floor, right? I'm calling to add my flight info and thought I 'd put in a building request while I'm on the phone.

Thanks!

On our recent stay we were in building 3 lakeview. It was awesome to be able to see the fireworks from both Epcot and MK. It was about a 3 min walk to classic hall!

Bldg 3 lake view (and top floor) rocks!! :) We usually always request 4th floor (and ask for an end room) - its ultra quiet.

Have a fabulous time and happy anniversary!! :woohoo:

:wave2: jsmia! As other posters have said, bldg 4 & 5 are super close to classic hall. :) also either 6 or 10 (70s) would also be very good. Pick the theming you best perhaps? And yes I would request the 4th floor - those upper floors do tend to be quieter. :)

SOOOO.. If I want to have a room with a one of the best Fireworks views... should I request Bldg 3 4th floor or what is the best for viewing? I believe my resies are standard. Will I be needing to upgrade if i want a better view? I am only needing a room for myself wont be doing the parks but would love to have the evening end in my room with some beautiful fireworks

We are staying dec 30 and 31 in a standard room, where are these rooms located

All the buildings and sections at Pop have standard rooms.

There is a handy map linked to from the first post of this FAQ thread that shows where the preferred rooms are, so you can tell which parts of the buildings are standard rooms.

I like standard rooms. My favorite location is building 1 in the 50's section. One year I had room 1148 on a corner, just steps away from preferred rooms and the bowling pool.

Building 3, 4th floor is the best fireworks view! Do not upgrade, as the only way to possible see any of Illuminations is from lakeview rooms, looking toward the Little Mermaid section of AoA, and all lakeview rooms are standard. :goodvibes

Just booked POP two rooms for our June stay...I have never stayed here...the only other value we stayed at was AsMu and we like it..I had narrowed my choice to POP or LM room at AofA (same price for our stay, but if discounts are announced read that LM rooms are usually excluded, so of course hoping for a discount at POP!) and POP won...getting excited knowing we at least have a reservation...:cool1:

In addition to building 3 .... building 2 (50s) or building 4 (60s) lakeview (which is standard) are also very good options for viewing Illuminations.... 4th floor would be best. Just wanted to mention that it is the very top of Illuminations that you do see. :)

:yay: Welcome to the POP Century Thread! :hippie: Keep hanging around, and you will gain lots of info from all the knowledgeable POPers.::yes::

Last summer POP had dissapointing room only discounts (5%) but there has been better offerings lately. :thumbsup2

Referring to the mousesavers website, it appears that GP codes were released twice for the April-mid June dates .... 11/30, and 2/29/12; for mid-June-8/14, discounts were released 4/2. :)

Thank you so much! Took me over an hour to finally find the answer I was looking for:)

You're welcome!! :goodvibes

This is probably an odd question but this is our first stay at the POP. Are the comforters on the beds like a down comforter with a duvet or no? I'm weird about covers and need to know if I should bring my own from home.

No, they are a bedspread style. Not super thin...but what I would consider a true bedspread. Sorry :(

As stitchlovestink posted, definitely bedspread style ... just wanted to also pass along that the bedspreads are a little stiff and heavy feeling, if that will be a concern to you at all. :goodvibes

I am so shocked to read this! I got a 30% discount on my room only for our week in July. I guess if POP's summer discounts stink, I had better be thankful that DD will be a CM this summer since we are returning this summer for younger DD's graduation trip!!
I almost lost out on staying there in January (bringing older DD down to start her DCP) waiting too long to make my ressie but luckily my persistence paid off and I snagged a room discount after a cancellation was returned to inventory. After January's stay I will have over 90 days at POP! Woo Hoo!!

It's funny hearing about the disappointing discounts others have encountered. Our room only discount was probably around 40% and POP was the cheapest out of all of the value resorts, at least $100 cheaper for the whole week than the other resorts. Of course we're Florida residents so this might make our discounts much deeper.

I'm here now and they are regular am/fm alarm clocks. No sound machine. It does have an mp3 plug though.

I'm here too and the side of the clock also has ocean or brook or wind chimes as well as music sounds you can listen to in addition to an iPod plug in.

Congrats on the great discount!! Last August my sister was able to get the 10% AAA rate at POP (we had the FD BB) - better at least than the measley RO 5% discount. Maybe this summer Pop will get a little bit more love. :hippie:

Wow! 40% at POP?? Congrats!! That is a FL resident code? Or a pin? Whatever, that is fabulous! :cool1:

Janet,
they have changed the policy about scooter rental companies just dropping units off....
now only certain companies can do that. They must be a preferred provider. If they are not, and Disney finds an ECV unit just 'sitting around', WDW now retains the right to confiscate said unit and the rental company must pay a fee to retrieve the unit. There is alot of speculation as to why this changed but one of many thoughts was that units were being damaged either by a guest or WDW and each was pointing the finger at the other when the rental company questioned what happened. And finally WDW said enough. So I'm not sure Bell services is still willing to charge ECVs anymore since they won't accept them from many of the rental companies. If you (a renter from a non approved rental company) leave it at bell services (luggage dept) to be charged and they change staff, it might be too risky that they confiscate it as 'abandoned'. I wouldn't do it.
I plan on checking into this when I go back to POP in January. But I am thinking ECV users are going to need to charge ECVs in their room now not at bell services anymore.

stitchlovestink ... thanks for this info...appreciate anything you find out when you go in January. :goodvibes

Wow, that's a great discount. I've had an AP for several years and the only time I've ever gotten 40% off was way back in 2005 at the Deluxes (49%) and Mods (40%). I've never gotten that much off at a Value and the last few years, haven't even been able to get it at a Mod (usually 25%-30%).

Just curious...were these great discounts people are talking about for this coming summer of 2013? I have been following the various threads on the resort discounts threads and have seen nothing for the summer yet...??

You are right. No discounts past March 22, 2013 have been released yet.

On her Mousesavers.com website, Mary Waring has a chart of historical discounts with the release dates, etc. Check this out: http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/#2013 Based on that, some of us try to predict when new discounts will be released, but it's just a guess.
