I have my news radio channel on and I heard that number tossed around as well. Not confirmed but the season would start around the 27th of December. As much as I disagree with the lockout, I am SO ready to have hockey back. As my siggie says, GO JETS GO!

I was doing the same thing after m-sita's post. Constantly refreshing yahoo sports and tsn.ca while keep "last channel"ing between nesn and nhl network.

Bob McKenzie ( TSN) is tweeting that the room and surrounding area have gone silent. No leaks, which should indicate things are going well. My fingers are crossed there is news when I wake up tomorrow morning.

You just know that if this works Bettman will be taking all the credit since he suggested he butt out along with Fehr. To me, it just shows what the problem was in the first place.

Honestly though, in a weird way, I almost hope they don't come to an agreement, because I want to stay angry at them. If they come back, and then I come back as a fan, I'll feel like I've been played or taken advantage of. Does that make sense on some strange level?

The 56-game figure was definitely thrown out there - Bettman needs to have some sort of schedule in place. In case a settlement is reached, they don't have much time to get the ball rolling. My cousin is in the ownership group for the Pens, nothing has been settled, no agreement has been reached - yet. Mario Lemieux says he's willing to stay in NY until they have an agreement, and Sid does like rainbow chocolate chip cookies
