December 2012 Car Rentals

I couldn't get those codes to be accepted... which fields do they go into on the reservation page? thanks!
You have to click on "Use Offer Code" first. Put D454300 into the BCD field and
MUPZ044 in the coupon field.

Oh, it's Budget... thanks! the person was responding to someone looking
at Alamo so that's why it didn't work on the Alamo web site.

You don't mention what type of vehicle you are looking for but using Wendie Code D454300 and E-Coupon MUPZ044 for $40 off the total after e-coupon is applied when return vehicle (compact) is $138.

Do you have to be an AARP member to use that coupon? That's what a quick Google search seems to suggest.

I just won a bid on priceline for a standard car
- Vendor: Budget
- Bid: $10/day
- Days: Dec 1 - Dec 9
- Tax/Fees: $71.16
- Total: $151.16

Also went through ebates.com and got 3% cash back :)

Just booked through Costco a second reservation that's not a lot better than my original, but shaved off a few days so its cheaper since I'm thinking about moving my off-site excursion on my itinerary anyways.

Got $169, including taxes for an intermediate with Avis at the Hilton Hotel from Dec 5-12. (One week)

I currently am holding a Dollar City Special at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista for $206 including taxes from Dec 5-14. (9 days)

Checked earlier this morning and Alamo's rates are at least changing for next Saturday - not low enough to book yet, but at least they're moving in the right direction! Here's hoping for some pixie dust :)

I just got what I think is a half decent deal at Budget. Pick up at MCO on 12/25, drop off at the Double Tree on Hotel Plaza Drive on 1/01. Total price with tax is $267 using BCD X474200 and coupon MUWZ003. I think that also means I get $20 off upon return as well?

What size of vehicle are you renting? You managed a slightly better price than we did, assuming your vehicle choice is similar.

With both pick up and drop off at MCO (December 23 to December 30), using the same BCD, we have a standard SUV for $302 all taxes in. We are using coupon code MUWZ023 ($25 off) so our final price should be about $275.

You are correct.......the coupon is applied when the vehicle is returned.

I just checked and a standard SUV is the same price as you got. We don't need the space so are going to save ourselves the 30 bucks

When we picked up our car at dollar last night all of the lock low and go rentals were mini vans. We are paying 140.44 for 8 days but booked about a month ago

Lucky you! I just checked for 12/21-12/28 with the code and then without and it shows that MCO is SOLD OUT! So are all the local locations. I wonder if they blocked out all the locations temporarily.

I have been getting hat since yesterday too

Just checked Alamo and managed to get a standard for dec 8-15 6 day 21 hr rental for $215 all in. Considering the prices lately i am overjoyed with that.

Now only problem is that I need a minivan for the in laws but those are still way too high. Can still get one with national using klm code if we have to take desperate measures. Lol

Whoop whoop! I checked the Costco Travel website (I am a member) and looked up my standard over-Christmas dates. My DH has some free National days that he has to use, so local locations were OK with me too because we can rent from National at the airport and switch cars around WDW mid way through our vacation. I saw Budget's Worldgate Resort location came up SUPER cheap and it's right near the Sherbeth Road and 192 which is the "back way" into Animal Kingdom. As an added bonus, it's also less than 3 miles from the house we are renting!

The rate for a week picking up in Kissimmee and dropping off in Tampa was (drum roll please) $144.47 including ALL taxes and fees for a Standard size car! I prepaid (saving $23) and used the Costco BCD and the Costco $40 off coupon. I was also offered a free 10-month subscription to Family Fun Magazine worth $10 that I accepted but I can send in a form (you need to take the link under the offer to print the form) and a copy of my reservation and they will send me $10 instead of the magazine. My DD is too old for that magazine, but I'm willing to fill out a form for an extra $10 savings. So, I'm really getting my car for $135 :).

I had been sitting on a 2-week reservation with National using 7 of my DH's free days and his corporate code for $225. I really didn't think I could do better. My new 2 week total is $176 and it only uses 6 free days :cool1: (we have to pay taxes and fees on the free days).

ETA: My Costco membership is up for renewal at the start of the year and the savings on this reservation just paid for another year!
