DDC XXIV - What Bacon Shortage? We're Full Of It!

‘Morning all…

It’s small town parade day down here and I’m actually looking forward to the silliness.

[ShamlessPlug]
If you’d like to see just how “small town” or small town can actually be you can just check out the last chapter of my now finally completed TR (I’d advise against though).
It’s in that first TR link down in my sig…
[/ShamlessPlug]

Now then… What’s up with y’all?

I think cooler heads prevailed and kept your politicians from making same mistake years later. The lessons learned from the surrender of Detroit, Buffalo and Fort Dearborn showed you can't mess with Canada.

You're welcome.

It appears that I inadvertently started a minor boarder skirmish here :lmao:

To your point…
True but those were more examples of poor leadership and hasty preparation. One of the main reasons England settled the dispute was that their generals stated flatly that if the US took time to assemble a full army in the area and mount an effective drive, they’d likely take the northern territories. As hasty actions to try and move the focus away from the Mid-Atlantic and force a treaty, those losses were tactically useful.

And you foolishly didn’t keep either prize.

No that would be when we sent you Celine Dion.

But we felt sorry for that so we sent…

You should feel bad about Celine.
And no those other ladies (lovely as they are), don’t make up for that one.

Mostly one shot zingers, I'm the "joker" of the store, quick to have something to say about anyone or anything. Love short jokes etc. Others are slams that I am careful not to use in front of the actual person, or else. :rolleyes1
My favorite two : Co-worker looking for our lazy, rotund Product Consultant:

"Is Alison around?"
Me: "Very round"

The best quick one involved a co-worker who gets very wound up, only has one eye. He had been freaking good, and a co-worker turned to ne and commented he thought he was going to "go postal" on us, when storms in with a gun, what'll we do? Without losing a beat, I shrug, and say "Stand to his left".

I can get nasty too....:rolleyes1

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Nice… and quick too.

I love it personally. :thumbsup2

Thanks.
It’s diction (not accent) that actually marks the language of the South.
So I’ll type it the way I’d ‘ev said it (...just seems proper).

That foolish accent that shows up in most Hollywood films is more a stereotype.

I remember an old Mad Magazine thing about this quote "Most Americans didn't want the second option, and couldn't understand the first." :rotfl2:

Funny… and sadly true; most don’t know what it means.
But you and I know that 49’ was a compromise. No one got what they wanted.
Canada didn’t get to clam Washington, Oregon or Northern California, and the US didn’t get to clam Winnipeg.

Win some... loose some... :rolleyes1

But we all agree about Quebec, right?

Ugh, don't get me started

It would appear so…
:lmao:

Back from a week away from the boards, hope all have behaved.

He don’t know us very well, do he?

Morning all! Haven't been able to check in as much as I'd have liked to lately. Work has been insane but I'm finally getting things running smoother so hopefully soon that will free up some tome to take a daily Dis break.

On tap today, clean out the garage! Or at least enough of it to get to the Christmas decorations in the rafters. I know there is a ladder in there somewhere?

Good to hear form you Randy, you've been missed.
Welcome home, and we hope to hear more in the near!

Well, a new plan has formed.

I have been worried about going to WDW during Spring Break this year because it is Easter Week. I know many have done it and survived, but I only survived MK at capacity with the old FP system. Also, there is the pending announcement that the school will move Fall Break a week earlier and we have a cruise booked for the what would be following week.

Thus, my plan is to cancel the Spring Break week and stay in a 1 BR at BLT LV for 5 nights and then the cruise for 4 nights. The technical parts of the problem are the different UYs, banking/ booking time frames, and 7 month availability. But, there is still the fun in planning.

Or, I could get a THV for four nights (availability). Or, a week at OKW.

If I didn't already have plans on doing DL during fall break, Your THV idea was brilliant , I think we could of talked your DW into it

Right now for me it's a challenge to get next years trip figured out. I wasn't quite sure how'd we pull it off money wise, now DW wants to plan a non-Disney trip for my 40th birthday, which will strain it further. I appriciate the sentiment ( although, not relishing hitting 40), I'm going to have a majorly scale back Disney in August. (October is out, not satisfied with Amelia's grades to risk it).

I don't. She was mad at me for making plans to meet up with you and Lee at the MNSSHP.

Who's D?

Since we are DVC, the Disney trips don't take the big budget hit as we already have our room paid for. So, it is tickets, dining, and souvenirs, which we can control based on how much we want to do. But, if that October week is moved forward like I think it will be, I'm not sure how many more opportunities I will get to take a week off at WDW followed by a cruise (since I don't plan on doing any more cruises). Thus, if we end up getting that much time in October, I'm not sure we would have enough in the vacation budget for a Spring Break trip anyway.

Whatever. We got your card and it is the first of the season. It is hung in a place of honor :thumbsup2

First again. :lmao: Oh, decorating the trash can. You shouldn't have.

.

Really? I didn't know that, we really appreciated y'all letting us sit with y'all during the parade

Afternoon guys!

14 mile run this am, lunch with the family and then picked out our tree, got it set up and ready to be decorated. Now DW and DD are getting the ornaments ready, while DS and I nap. Great day so far. :thumbsup2

:lmao: not at all. Top of the post for the Hayden's :thumbsup2

Terrible news out of Kansas City :sad1:

Went and read the article. Terrible news. 3 month old daughter as well. Sad.

Something else was going on. She couldn't arrange a meet time with one of her friends who was there at same time. Girls want to overplan and talk to much. Turns out they both actually had a meal scheduled 15 min apart on Wednesday at Chefs de France and she didn't know it.

Not at all. Randall is one of the great minds of our time :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

He did say WWND first!

DON’T PAY THE RANSOM, I’VE ESCAPED.

Been a while since I checked in here. A bad week health wise. Nothing serious but haven’t had much energy to do anything. Won’t go back and read everything I missed but I hope everyone is doing well. Plus I am sure that guy from Mass. is talking smack about the Dolphins/Pats game tomorrow. Kicking back watching “Championship Saturday” waiting for GA/Bama to start. Wonder if I can root for both teams to lose? Good games going on right now.

Enjoy the day.
