when is the line too long for you to join?

Because of school, we have to go in the summer. I'd say 30, maybe 45 minutes is our max.

This is probably our limit too. I might wait an hour if it's something I haven't done and really want to ride.

Depends on FP availability, time of year and how long our vacation. sometimes we pass on 30 min, sometimes if it is busy, no FP and we do not plan to return to parks we can go into longer line but 60 min and more is out of the question. Although we did long lines in past, 120 min for Soarin when it just opened, 240 min for MIB during Spring Break and our first visit to Universal.

It depends on the attraction but we probably wouldn't wait more than 30 minutes for anything. However, for Toy Story Mania, we have waited up to 90 minutes simply because we're never early enough to get there at rope drop or get a fastpass for a decent time. TSM is probably the only ride we'd wait this long for.

Longer than 45 minutes for headliner attractions like Tower of Terror, Rockin Rollercoaster, Expedition Everest, Kali, Test Track, Soarin, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain.

Everything else 20 minutes is the max.

Eh it depends. We use FP, we go at rope drop, but we also go back to the parks at night. Sometimes we don't mind waiting on a line, it all depends on what the line is for, what mood we're in, and really how long the trip is. Like Robo said we've waited as long as 3 hours back in the day when ToT first opened. And I freaking loved that ride so much. I was 12. I was scared out of my pants but I was in love!

ETA: This past trip I made DH wait in line for probably 45 minutes to meet Tink and Periwinkle (this was early, like 9:45 am)...He was all grumbly the whole time on his phone, looking at Fantasy Football...After the meet he was all, SHE WAS CUTE! I LOVE PERIWINKLE! hahahahahhaa

We always go in off season because I can't handle crowds and lines.

If it is more than 30 minutes for most rides we will fast pass it or single rider it or skip it. Only exception being new rides that I really want to ride like Harry Potter at IOA.

Oh, nothing major. LOL I guess I got excited and spacey and when I walked into the park for the end of the day. I saw TestTrack and was all "Oooooooo! Shiny! Me want fast pass!!" I grabbed one, and then remembered the whole reason I went back into Epcot in the first place was for Soarin', which I now couldn't get a FP for since I already had one. I ended up just getting in line for Soarin'.

If the temps are higher than 75 degrees and the line is not shaded, I'm not getting in it period.

If the waiting area is shaded, then maybe 10-15 minutes if the temps are above 75 or 15-20 if the temps are under 75.

I can take the cold, but not the heat.

If most of the waiting area is indoors, like Soarin', then I might stretch to 30 minutes if I didn't have anything else to do. But that would be the max.

20 minutes. The only way we will wait in a longer line is on our last day in each park, if there is something specific we want to ride. Longest we have ever waited is 45 minutes for TSM.

This week, we've gotten in line if it's 30 or less. For some reason, all the times posted this week have been longer than the actual standby times. Some were pretty significant. The sign for Star Tours said 25 minutes, and it took 10. The only one that was longer was EE yesterday. For some reason AK had a low crowd and then got crazy busy about midafternoon.

30 minutes is the longest line we will get in. Of course, recently when we were there some of the fastpass lines were 20 minutes (CMs had to create orderly lines for for fastpass users out the front of the entrance)

I've been on 4 trips in recent years, and the longest we've ever waited for anything is 30 minutes (Toy Story and Rockin' Rollercoaster). My strategy is to go in the off season and rely heavily on FastPasses and rope drop. I get tripped up every time by RR--by the time we get over there the fastpasses are too far out and it's better to just suck it up and get in line.

~For certain attractions, 30 minutes is not a big deal, because it can take like 15 minutes with no line just to get to the boarding area. In my experience, the wait times are always inflated. One time at DHS, TSMM(soft opening) had a 90 minute wait, it took just over an hour -- fun but not fun.
