Is anyone running in a costume? My husband and I want to run as a prince and princess but I don't know where to get a custome. Can anyone help?

Think about it, you ran 3 miles, then a bit on your own, then 3/4 or a mile the wrong way against the other runner's and then that 3/4 back, then a mile to the finish. That's 5.5 miles. You didn't miss a ton of the race, just kind of made your own course. ;)

My 10K Turkey Trot....I AM SO EMBARRASSED! Well let me start at the beginning...got up at 5:15 am to get my dogs(ooops four legged kids!) fed and out potty before I needed to drive for 45 min to get to Boerne for the 10K Turkey Trot. 43 degrees this morning at 8 am race time and felt chilly in my long sleeve fila top and bermuda wicking shorts. Quickly warmed up and physically felt great (had my running belt on since there was no bag check for keys, etc).

Well marked course the first 2.5 miles then they had a split for the 5K to go one way and 10K the other. I followed the 10 K signs...felt all alone since no one ahead of me and people way far behind me. That's okay I thought...the course is pretty well marked where you turn (course was through neighborhoods before heading back to main street) Passed mile 3...good...on my pace and feeling I can really do the last 3.2...Ha, Ha eeeehhhh! All of a sudden I see people coming TOWARDS me...Oh boy...and then the gut said "I think we missed a turn. Kept going about another 3/4 mile and then asked the runners coming towards me "are you the 10K group" yup they were! :confused3

Figuring I had MAJORILY screwed up...I followed them the last 1 mile to the finish. I AM SO EMBARASSED...FRUSTRATED.... MAD ! I trained good...I felt good...and I know I didn't do the 10 K in the 56 min the finish line clock said...definitely NOT going to turn that time into RunDisney ! Could just cry as there are no more 10K's in my area before PHM. Just gonna hide in my house for the weekend and lick my wounds.... AAARRGGHHHH!

Don't be embarrassed! You should be so proud you finished. And i would submit the time. You can drop back to B or C or D or...You get the point ;-)

Yeah, that's probably what I would do. If you are a solid C corral runner and because you didn't have a time to submit got put in corral F ... I'd take it with me to expo. Let them move you up to A or whatever but you can then drop back and start in C

If you wait until expo you also aren't bumping a true A corral runner from a slot. And you might get placed in C anyway and not even need to worry about it

Anyway- I'd take it with me and use it if I needed to. :). No shame!

Hi ladies! I've been lurking but finally have the courage to start posting! Love love love keeping up with this thread.

I'm running the princess half marathon with my mom. She's a runner. I'm working on it. I had to take 3.5 weeks off of running for surgery, but am back at it. I had an awful run this morning, but am finally starting to feel better about it.

I "ran" 3 miles today. I had to walk a lot! (Ran the first 1.7, then it got hilly and I walked, a lot.) Finished with a pace of 12:24. About a minute slower than pre-surgery, but I also wasn't doing any walking on my 3 mile runs pre-surgery. After an emotional breakdown and almost crying othe course, I realize I need to give myself a break. I'm being too hard on myself. I was off 3.5 weeks, I can't just pick up exactly where I left off.

I have my first 5k ever on Thursday. Same course as today. I'm terrified.

Many vibes to all you injured ladies!!!

Oh, I'm staying at AoA and my mom and I are dressing up. I'll post pictures onece I get our outfits together. :)

Oh no!!! That's one of my fears- wrong way on the course. I'm chuckling though. With that time you are an A corral for sure! Lol

Oh how I wish corral A...maybe if the Hawaii five-o guys had been at the race! :rotfl2:

Don't be embarrassed, it wasn't your fault they didn't mark it better! I have to say that I would probably still turn in the time. If you don't have any other opportunities to get in a 10K before then, I would use this. Is it REALLY far off from what your time would have been? I mean, you missed maybe a mile, right? It isn't like you cheated and had someone else wear your chip or something. It is YOUR official time. If this is the only 10K chance you have for get a qualifying time, I would submit it.

And WTG for getting out there!!! What would race day be without drama, anyway, right? Chin up, you got out and ran which is better than most people who slept in and sat on their couch all day.

Thanks for the positive vibes....glad I got out there just really disappointed I didn't do the full course the way it was suppose to be done.

I like the way you think...dont' want to bump a true corral A or B person at this point so may take it to the expo. GREAT idea!

After my turkey trot fiasco this morning I am so with you on the tears...12:24 is super after being off for 3.5 weeks....we still have 3 months to go until PHM so plenty of time to improve...

:thumbsup2 That sounds like a perfect plan. Best of worlds for everyone.

Me too, planning the outfit has always been more fun for me than the actual training.

Wow I wish I had the talent to sew something for us.

Interesting perspective! I never would have thought of that at all. Thank you!

Princesses, I'm having a conflict. Today for my training plan I need to run 6 miles, and it'll be the farthest distance I've run, ever. Last week I did 5 miles for my long run and knocked it out of the park.

My issue is.... I found a 10k on thanksgiving which would be early enough to submit a time to Disney. But two things: one, I'm not sure I'll have a decent time to submit if I'm not ready to run that far... two, it's 2 hours away so I would have to wake up early and drive there, by myself on thanksgiving day :(.

Should I try it out anyways?? After my run tonight I guess I'll see how I feel... I'm thinking I should though.. There's a local 10k I can run but I'd have to bring my results to the race because it's the day after the last day to submit. Which is still soon! AHH I don't know what to do!

I would not travel 4 hrs r/t to do a 10k, especially on a holiday IF I had plans. Now, if you don't have anything to do that day I might consider it.

I am feeling very blessed that my Thanksgiving 10k is less than 5 miles away. Which one are you looking to drive to?

My plans aren't until a lot later, so I would have time to come home and nap if I needed to haha. It's a Turkey Trot in Phoenix. I also feel like maybe I wouldn't feel so guilty stuffing my face later that night if I did it, haha!

At least you have a 10k or greater to run before the race. In DC, MD and northern VA before PHM there is nothing. There's a 5 miler but that isn't long enough.

You should do the one you think is best but having to drive 2 hrs after running is tough. Even if you take your time with you its not such a big deal.

If turning in a time early is important to you, I'd do it. If you did great at 5 you'll be great at a 10k with the race environment pushing you. I don't think it would be a nightmare at all

But waiting and taking to expo is really no big deal! Super easy process.

So it's really just up to you on if you want to make the drive. Good luck!

I'm doing a 5k turkey trot with the whole family. My DH, who hasn't run in years, could probably still turn in a much faster time than me. He gets to push the stroller. Lol. Since we will be running with a 9 ye old, 7yr old and 5 yr old (plus stroller) I Imagine this will be the slowest "trot" on record. Ha! The 5 yr old is already whining about it, even though he can easily run 3.1 miles. Easily. @@

If you don't mind the drive I'd do it! Thanksgiving runs are always fun so hopefully you'll do great and have fun doing it! My area does a 5 miler every Thanksgiving that we like to do to reduce the guilt of the second helping of pumpkin pie later in the day! We missed it last year because we went to WDW for the holiday and are missing it again this year for the same reason! I'm gonna get my long run in Wednesday before we fly out and the plan is to get in at least a 4 or 5 miler while there...we'll see how that pans out ;)

I don't know if there are still openings, but on Active.com there are several listed. Search running 10k. :thumbsup2

I am getting way off track in my training and need some motivation! I ran the Disneyland 1/2 in September (my first 1/2, SO much fun!), but have had a hard time with training since then. Wrapped up one job and started a new one the next day - running has gotten pushed to the back burner. Now it is hunting season, which always makes me a bit nervous for running, and it is cold and dark in the morning before work and in the evening following work.

I've got my race registration, hotel reservation, and airline tickets... but I seriously need to kick it into gear to get back in shape for this race. Any advice for sticking with training in the cold weather/dark days/busy holiday season?

Just finished my 6 mile run tonight guys :cool1: feelin' a bit pooped, but I averaged an 11:06 mm. I stopped for a brief second to take a picture of the sunset, then proceeded to drop my phone like a doof :sad2:. Didn't break it though!! I also went adventuring out on the main roads. I'm not used to the hills out there, oye!! But I feel good, and I'm proud! 1:07:55 was my finishing time :). Here is the photo that almost cost me my phone, haha!

NOTHING in the surrounding areas?! Wow! I'm really sorry to hear that. There are only two 10k's that are nearby for me. And that's within the next month which I wasn't feeling ready for.. I figured it was just AZ though, holdin' out on the races! Maybe something will come up for you :( best wishes.

A 5 year old doing 3.1 miles?! Impressive! I had no desire to do that at 5. Or 10. Or 15. Now I'm 23 and finally enjoying running hahah. Thanks for your encouragement! I'm already feeling better about it :)

Aw thank you!! :goodvibes

So jealous you'll be in WDW! Take me with you, I promise I'll try and fit in a piece of luggage :rotfl:. And that's a major reason why I would probably make the drive - so I can eat more! Yum :) Green bean casserole... pie... stuffing... rolls... turkeyyy. fooooooood. We DO have a local 5k but... I want a 10k! hahah
