When Buying resale...

If and when you decide to buy resale. Document every person you talked to and when and where they are from. My Resale Closed on October 19th and i thought i may be lucky and be able to get my Member ID over the phone. So i called MA on the 29th and was told they received the documents on the 19th. I figured sweet everything is going as planned.

Mistake #1 on my end. I didn't take the persons name i talked to.

So it comes to be November 4th still nothing in the mail. So i call MA again and was informed they don't have the closing documents or new deed, and that i should call Fidelity back. I call my contact at Fidelity and she contacts the Title company to send it again and have DVC expedite the process.

I call on November 5th and spoke with a gentleman and he stated they received the documents and deed the day before and stated it will take another 2 weeks. I said that it was unacceptable and that i know they have other contracts they must complete but mine should have been done by now. He stated he would have it expedited through the process.

Mistake #2 i didn't take his name.

So i called today and was told i have 50 contracts in front of me. i told them "i was told that it would be expedited." they asked who i spoke with and i told them "i did not know i didn't think this would be a major issue." she took my phone number and will hopefully call me back.

Btw i have her name down.

So when buying resale DOCUMENT!

So sorry to hear of your delays in getting into the system.:(

Good luck and wishing some pixie dust coming your way.

You will quickly learn that when dealing with the DVC you need to document everything. We have had points disappear from our account. We have had a reservation disappear. We had a reservation canceled and re-booked by a resort, they put our points in holding and borrowed points to make the new reservation all without our knowledge.

Keep track of your account, points, reservations, and who you talk to. Get it in writing when you can, and don't expect that Disney won't have IT problems.

Ask yourself this, if Disney were to erase my account by mistake, do I have records to rebuild my information?

While I agree it's a good idea to document who you talk to in cases like this, I'm not sure your problem is entirely with DVC Member Administration.

There may have been an issue with the documents submitted originally which caused them to be sent back -- I have had that happen with both DVC and Wyndham. If that is the case, the fault lies with Fidelity or their closing agent and it can't be fixed until they straighten things out.

And when DVC does get the proper documents, I'd be surprised if they put your corrected package ahead of other purchasers whose documentation is perfect. Why should they, other than greasing a squeaky wheel?

On the bright side, DVC processes resale transfers VERY quickly compared to most of the industry. When we bought Wyndham, it was almost 4 MONTHS after closing before we had our account operational, and another 2 months before we had our RCI account established. Our experience is not unusual for resale purchases with Wyndham and many other systems, but DVC is far better in that regard.

I know it's frustrating, but hang in there and enjoy your DVC!

I have learned long ago that anytime I deal with someone over the phone I clearly get their name at the beginning of the conversation. I remember to use it once in a while during the conversation and seem to find that I get much better service when I do so. :thumbsup2

Good News! decided to call Member accounting to see if i could get any head way. Got my Contract number and was connected to the online help center. They were able to get me signed up online. Booked our Vacation for this December 5th-11th at OKW and on a waitlist for Boardwalk
