We will be checking in in 2 weeks and one day :cool1::dance3:.....we leave 2 weeks from today, driving down:drive:.....I am trying to catch up on some of the posts :surfweb: and have a question that i am sure has been asked a million times....:confused3 when is a good time to do a room request....now through my travel agent or upon arrival?

Do it PRIOR to arrival through your TA. Then if they don't meet the request, you can nicely ask at check-in if anything is available in your requested area.

Any suggestions on what area to request? We won't want to walk forever to the bus stops, however that's not a deal breaker...maybe near a nice pool...but will that matter in 2 weeks? Maybe something not too far to walk for breakfast? Lol...i have no idea what to request...a nice view would be great!

After our lunch experience at PM we opted to skip their breakfast option. Also I didn't want to pay $15 a person for Mickey waffles. :)

I don't blame you $15pp for waffles is a bit steep...even if they are Mickey ones ;)

We were on the dining plan so didn't have to think about food costs, which was nice. We ate at the PM a couple of times for lunch and found the food to be tasty enough (being from the UK we didn't know what some dishes were but we enjoyed trying them out :)) as you say maybe you were just unlucky with your timing.... for me tea-time was the most annoying meal to have to eat at the PM! nothing wrong with the food, but surely there must be a simpler way rather than stamping those cards and having to line up for meals at different counters!!

You might swim ...you might not; December weather is so fickle. I'd request Cabana 8a....short walk to main pool, close to quiet pool and a short walk to main building over bridge. There is parking in each section

Love the thread. We will be staying at CSR for the first time in March and this thread has got very excited. Can't wait to hear some more from those who have stayed. How long is the ride to the parks? I know what the book says about times but would like to hear from some of my dis friends.

Was poking around the WDW site and I realized that CSR is 110% FULL/SOLD OUT for my dates (11/26-12/6). I know there will be Pop Warner and the other cheer/dance conference going on + regular travelers. I'm worried about the resort being PACKED because of it being sold out. Wondering how that will affect the pools, food areas, and buses...

Oh no! :scared1: We're going at that time too. I did not think there were any conventions running at that time. What is causing this to be sold out? :surfweb:

For what it's worth, CSR is not sold out for that entire period. You may have searched availability for your length of stay and there was no availability because the hotel is booked on one or more of those days. But, for example, from 11/26-11/30, the first 5 days of your trip, there is availability in CSR and all hotels for that matter.

That seems really strange. CSR is out favorite resort and we have been to WDW during that week. POP kids do not normally stay at CSR. Large conventions at CSR can be VERY helpful we have found. Most of these people are in meetings during the day and not using the bus system. Most have breakfast with in the convention and morning at the food service areas are not too busy though sometimes lunch can get a little busy there. If there are indeed no conventions going on, that might be an indication of a VERY busy resort that week. My guess is there is something going on and rooms are blocked off until they see how many they are going to need and then will be released. That's how we have learned that CSR is a great last minute resort to book.

If you are worried about staying at CSR during pop warner and you are doing a split stay anyway, why not call and ask if you can add some days to AKV or AOA? Maybe they will change your res. w/o a fee if you tell them you are concerned about the noise level from the groups.

CSR is one of the moderates available to Pop Warner groups from December 1-8 (along with CBR). The bulk of the kids stay at values, but there are probably some rooms blocked at CSR for any teams that want to stay there. I'm not sure when Pop Warner registration closes, but they will probably release some rooms closer to the date.

I agree with ffugitive. I just finalized our reservations for CSR this morning, and Nov. 27-Dec. 1 is wide open. Maybe it's just after Dec. 1 that's filled up because of the conventions?

Considering CSR for our next stay, so it looks like I have some reading to do!

We got back yesterday from our ten night stay at CSR and we had such a great time.

We were in Cabanas 8A, room 8155. We loved that location, being so close to the dig site was very nice and we were sort of in between the quiet pools in Ranchos and Cabanas.

The room was great, we loved the beds and linens. We had no problems with housekeeping. Most days it was excellent, a couple of days it was okay. Those couple of days we for instance didn't get new toiletries, the room wasn't vacumed and the beds were made but not the way they were the other days. On those days, we got a bunch of extra toiletries, extra towels, room vacumed, beds made up very nicely. On those days (8 of our ten days) I would rate housekeeping as exceptional. So I was very happy overall. I will also add I had to call housekeeping a few times, and they were always prompt and very nice.

All the cms were super friendly.

The grounds at this resort are gorgeous. The beaches with the hammocks, quiet pools (which are so nice and clean), main pool and common areas in
El Centro were all very nice. My so used the gym most days and said it was very nice, good equipment, clean etc. We didn't find any of the walking a problem and in fact I think its set up easier to get around than POR. Its large for sure but we always find that the bigger mods with their multiple bus stops, quiet pools and walking paths are easy to navigate and nothing above what we are okay with walking.

The dining at this resort was awesome. We loved having so many choices. Cafe Rix and Siesta's were very convenient and we loved the choices (wish I had a cuban sandwich from Cafe Rix right now lol). Dh was in hog heaven with the chicken wings at Siesta's (15 wings for one cs credit). Having food choices and a drink refill right at the main pool was really convenient. Dh and I did the Pepper Market for lunch one day, it was good, it wasn't as good as I hoped but we did go very close to closing and it was deserted. We did enjoy it and I would go back. We did the breakfast buffet yesterday and it was wonderful. So much selection, always restocked (it was crowded in there) great service and we all four were kind of like "why did we wait to do this the last day?!" I will add the cms at all the cs locations were great.

I want to go back and it will probably be two years which makes me sad!

We enjoy the moderates, POR has been our favorite for the most part and we did have 11 great nights at CBR in March. Its hard to pick a favorite and generally the one I am at is the one I love the best! The food court at POR has always been our favorite, however, the new set up at Pepper Market and the choices at Cafe Rix and Siesta's were much more varied than I remembered.

I envy anyone getting to go in the near future!

Amy, thanks for the review. You've made me even more excited to be back at the CSR in 31 days.

Dont tell me that! We arrive on the 6th! Should we switch resorts? We are room only and doing a split stay with BC. I was debating trying Boardwalk but went with Coronado since it gets such good reviews. Maybe I'll call tonight and see if I can switch my discount (the general room one that expired already) to a deluxe for the first half. I cant stand teenagers in groups! We happened to be in WDW last April when the World Cheerleading competition was going on. Ugh, those kids were terrible! :headache:

Hmm, other random question....I am sure it is in this thread somewhere, but you people talk too much! ;) Is there pin trading as in a pin book at the resort (not just CMs)? Concierge maybe or the gift shop? Deluxes tend to have books at both concierge and gift shop or large traveling pin boards. It has been a long time since I have stayed at a Mod, before pin trading became popular in fact, so I am not sure how they work.
