November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Well... Our plane was supposed to leave an hour ago but we have been sitting at the gate. Not a magical start. Hopefully we will be moving shortly. Ugh! Really was looking forward to the time at MK this afternoon. Hopefully we won't have to change our plans once we get there.

Im sorry. Did they say why you are delayed?

I was in Target last night and got 4 Disney Princess costumes (2 Cinderella, 1 Belle & 1 Snow White) for $10 each. They had a few others for $15 (Rapunzel's Wedding Dress and a fancy Merida).

They aren't Disney Store quality, but that works for me -- my girls think the Disney Store ones are heavy and hot. These will work much better for throwing over their clothes. And if they get ripped I won't mind, it was only $10!

Great job snagging the costumes! :yay:

There is a maintenance issue with the plane.

So sorry to hear about this! Hopefully you are there by now and having a wonderful time!! And if it's an issue with the plane, I say take all the time you need, guys to make the plane safe!;)

I can't believe in just one week we'll be finishing our first dinner at T-Rex. At this point I just have laundry to do and pack. Plus get some travellers cheques & American money.

We leave our house next Friday at 4am!

Uggggggggg stressing over all the stuff I need to get done at work and how everytime I get started something else comes up. I stayed over 2 hours tonight to make sure stuff got done for a truck. Tomorrow I have to go in to time my first shift people to find out what the problem is. My second shift can check almost as many parts as my first shift people and first shift has 2 more people than they do. So tomorrow I have to go time them without them seeing me to see what is up. I don't like being the boss at all. I just keep reminding myself I am going on vacation soon. I can't wait! The nice thing is a few extra bucks in my paycheck.

I have the day off before our trip. DD will go to school that day. DH is off too so we can relax and get everything done that needs done. That day we will have lunch with DD for her birthday and take in her cupcakes. Her bday is actually the day before. I plan on having a massage that day, my nails done the night before, and DD and I will go to chiropractor right before we head to the airport hotel. It will be nice to de-stress right before the trip.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:Wooo Hooo my 500th post!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

*disclaimer - I can get excited about the littlest things

Power finally restored post Sandy for us.... it has been a grueling 5 days here... I think we weathered it pretty well all things considered - we all came out safe and sound. Sadly, can't say the same for a lot of folks here in NJ though - the devastation is overwhelming.

On the flip side though - we are down to 2 weeks!!!!

There were too many posts to go back and read so not sure if this was already mentioned here or not - the NJ teacher's union cancelled their annual convention next week and the Governor is urging school districts to use those 2 days to make up for missed days. How will that impact Jersey Week at WDW? I doubt it will impact it much as I am sure very few people will change their travel plans unless, of course, there are huge burdens on them because of the storm, etc. Our district already has added those two days to the school calendar, but we know quite a few families who will be enjoying the sun and warmth of Florida during that time.

Sounds like a lot of stress for you. It IS tough to be the boss! I'm sure you're a good one. Hope you aren't at work too long today.

The day before your trip sounds like heaven!!::yes:: Very good plan! Early happy birthday wishes for your DD!princess:

So sorry you were without power for 5 days! And glad it has been restored. Watching the news I have been amazed at the damage and devastation. :sad2:

I can't imagine too many people will change their plans since most have been in place for a long time. It's too bad students will miss a couple of days of school they didn't plan on, but after what everyone has been through, a vacation seems to be something to be enjoyed even more. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time!:beach:

Good Morning everyone!! :goodvibes

So excited for all our friends already at WDW and those on the way this morning as we speak!! We are at 11 days and counting....still much to do. I get 1 more payday before we leave and that has to go to pay off rest of our Universal part of trip and extra spend $$$- we all need that right?? lol!! Tomorrow is the day I can finally do the online check in- have never done this before but does it really save time?? How does it work?? Ive read that everything is ready when you get there cards included- do they still have to swipe you credit card or do you get to bypass that part if you have already provided them your CC information??? Was just wondering. Thanks all. Have a great day!!

Good morning all! Just got electricity back last night, so I can officially start being excited again about our trip in 12 Days!! It's been such a rough & scary week but at least we have something to look forward to. I hope everyone who had to deal with Sandy is OK and safe. Will officially start packing my stuff tomrrow. Kids are done for the most part, just didn't start anything for me and DH. Can't believe it's almost here! Hope everyone enjoys their November trip!!!!!!!!!

Gosh so glad to hear you have your electric back!! We live here in OC MD and it was bad too but we fared much much better than those in NJ and NY- I feel so incredibly blessed in so many ways. You will be there same time as us, yay!! Who knows we just might see each other at some point. All I know is everytime I talk to my daughter Sarah- she just screams and screams- she is way beyond excited and can't wait for it to finally be here. This from a 23 year old!!! Its been 6 years for her and I since our last trip and over 8 years for my DH and Rachel who was only 7 at the time. She is going to turn 16 in Januray- gosh just where does the time go??

Thanks, it was rough here in NJ but i'm not in a hard hit area as a lot of others were. My friend and her parents both got 3 feet or more of water in their homes. It's so sad. I almost feel guilty. Yes we may see one another. It's great you and your family are going back again! There is probably so much you haven't seen yet! You'll have a great time! I really am excited to start thinking about our trip again.

So in theory, yes, online checkin does save time. We've done it four times, it was super speedy twice, not so much the other two. Yes, your room cards are ready (although the room may not be just yet). There is usually only one (once I saw 2) checkin desks for online. Problem is, if someone in front of you takes a long time (for example, didn't get their room request and demands to be changed), it takes many minutes to do so. You are single threaded to that line and have to wait while regular checkins fly through their queue. So it's hit or miss. If you DO really care about your room request, I highly suggest you DON'T do online checkin, as its not made to handle room do overs. It really frustrates the CMs. Hope that helps!:thumbsup2

So i decided to start packing today... we are only 16 days out! I pulled all of our suitcases out and realized we only have 3 suitcases. I have a laundry basket full of crap I am taking for Disney... glow sticks, ponchos, toys that kind of stuff. I was thinking about putting it in a cardboard box and checking it. Can I do that?:confused3 It is a small box. We are flying southwest. Any experience with this?

You can also ship things to a Disney Resort via UPS/Fedex 7-10 days beforehand. I think if you try to check the box they will treat it as cargo and charge accordingly, but you could call Southwest and ask. I would ship it ground on Monday via UPS and then you have a tracking number (yay, something else to obsess about!) and will know for sure that it arrived. Call the resort for the address and to give them a heads up that something is coming.

You may also want to just buy another suitcase, especially if you are already tight on space and plan to bring back souvenirs. My wife and I will typically pack an empty duffle bag type suitcase to bring things back with.

So I called Southwest and you can check a box. If the security opens it they will tape it back up.

Also!!! While I was on hold I was looking around the southwest site and our ticket price dropped!:cool1: So buy changing them all to the new rate it refunded me 14,000 points! That is another flight I can take!pixiedust:

So we made it here. Tonight we are eating dinner at Jiko. It is delicious. The weather is so nice. 80 during the day and cool at night though. I was rather chilly at food and wine last night. If you get cold easily, I would recommend a sweatshirt or light jacket. Off to Magic Kingdom tonight. Hope I can stay awake.
